Description : This one's a bit different for me, breaking away from the jazz and funk for awhile. This is sort of a dark pop/rock track, incorporating a favorite instrument of mine, the mellotron (VST.) This track kinda took on a life of it's own. I wasn't really sure what kind of track it would become, but here's the result. Hope you like it and enjoy the download.

Absolutely LOVE this track! I could go on and on, but there's really no need.

Great to hear the real deal on LM!

hi Scott, I enjoyed this nice track. really interesting use of the mellotron machine which can quite good imitate some orchestral strings effects here. it sounds very nice with the voice (1:08). Vocals have also some interesting reverb added and that works perfectly with all these mellow sounds from 2:37. really nicely done. Greetings,
Alex

Yes! Really liked this track, Scott. Great drum work, of course. I assume that was all done on your Alesis set? I really liked the Duane Eddy type guitar. Didn't sound like a VST at all. You did a great job on that one. The mellotron pad part had some glissandos that sounded very George Harrison. Loved that treatment. Yes, vocals were a bit dry, so perhaps some reverb would be good. Or, in the alternative, make them more more intimate in the mix. Not sure how to do that with effects, though. Might have needed a different mic arrangement and different vocal delivery. Anyway, I'd experiment. Who did the vocals, by the way? Very nice. An excellent departure from jazz and funk. Always good to get off the beaten path periodically.

Hey Eric,

Glad you like it. That Duane Eddy guitar is actually the M-tron. I took it down an octave. The vocals were an unknown pella I found some time ago. I collect stuff for future use and I can never remember where I get them.

Glissandos...I haven't heard that term since my college days!

Cheers,
Scott

Absolute unique track Scott!

Instant fav from the first second...like everything in the track...the 'crazy' drum rhythm from 0.37, the low toned guitar like from a Tarantino soundtrack, the cinematic felt synth voice and play and I really like that Lady's voice (a bit more reverb on it?)
James Bond soundtrack song...that's what flashed in...

Huge respect and thankx for this delicacy :-)

Danke

Thanks allot, Danke. So glad you like it and downloaded it.

The drum rhythm is my Alesis drum kit using it with a double pedal. Most of my career I only use one kick drum pedal, and about 2 years ago started using a double pedal. The low toned guitar is actually a Mellotron VST using the guitar setting and lowering it an octave. I think you're right, a little reverb on the vocals wouldn't hurt.

Again, thanks and hope you enjoy it in the future.

Cheers,
Scott

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.

Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.

Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).

Description : This track was like the inhale after an exhale of aggressive industrial-electro-sludge tracks that I had put out that summer and fall. This was the more reserved, and introspective winter track. It's nothing spectacular, but I still really enjoy it. I hope you do too. Take care. V.
