i guess the track is cool, but it can still become supercool. its befitting to say its a dance track, but when the beat comes in its like hiphop beat.if you give it that dance feel it should raise some eyebrows.keep going SJ
the problem with the drums is that they aren't very well fitted in the mix, they should come a bit more forward instead of being to the left. they are very far away, especially when the dry female vox kicks in
keep them in the centre, and maybe add a more defined snare and percussion
other than that - it's a masterpiece! love the vox, the chilled atmosphere
Hi and yes, I agree about the drums!
When I did this six months ago I really didn't know much about anything so my music producing skills really sucked - lol.
I'm still hoping to get back my inspiration and actually finish this song...and have been trying so a couple of times but it's not happening yet...strange considering this is my favourite of my own songs. Maybe it's beacuse it's all loops and nothing of my own really?
Anyway - thanks so much for listening and for the helpful advice!
i'm liking the combination of vocals and piano's going on here. It's very chilled. I can't help thinking that this would translate really well into a banging trance tune.
It was a pleasure to listen to.
FR
Really - A trance tune? Haven't thought of that at all - but it's a good idea! Maybe somebody would want to give it a try?
Maybe I should give it a try myself...I'm just not very experienced so it will take some time to accomplish, this one is also just a half-finished song.
Hey RockMom :)
Im impressed by the use of vocal samples - youve mixed them perfectly. Brilliant intro (Im on my 4th replay as I write this) Keep it up - Bravo !
Hi there!
I'm actually looking for a new nick but RockMom won't do - I was thinking about HouseMom, which sounded really good untill I looked up the actual meaning of it...lol.
Thank you for listening and I'm very glad you enjoyed it!
wow, dear colleague ''SJ'' , due to some issues about connection ,just today I've seen your reply to my frist comment. my appologize if I'm alittle careless about description below trax in looperman and have made such mistakes about singer and... about your track .best wishes & regards again.___Behnam
First obvious thing is yur good mix .combination of varous layers of sound takes much skills in counterpoint rules and carefull attention while composing.besides I want to admire you,for it's the first time that I've seen some female vocal has used any of male vocal acapella in her track (specially I should admire your choice,Cause that experienced man sings really lovely & welldone).about drum line I liked every thing(also that considered stop between measures) just think you could boost drum line volume about 1decibel.if I want to be honest I should tell you it's an innovative drum beats which I really adore it in various moments & parts. also your usage from various intervals in vocal melody attuned in this one is more professional than your other tracks which I've heard in looperman. and a remarkable point which seems is one of your strong point in your music(beside your Impressive voice) in considered lyrics,& set words which makes a perfect package & is remarkable. totally I should say I really enjoyed,& I prefered this one to the otherone which I'd commented on(from your tracks) last time, althought no doubt both show your worthwhile abilities & tallent & skils .totally I should say you're admirable for being a perfect package about your various tallents in music. regards & best wishes.___Behnam
Hi again, Behnam - Thank You for listening but one important thing: It´s NOT ME singing!!! Not in this one and not in the first track You heard from me. My voice is nothing like this one here, unfortunately. The voice here belongs to Farisha: http://www.looperman.com/acapellas/detail/4340
Maybe You could use her pellas in your Music also, it could actually fit.
Thank You so much for the review, although I can't take credit fot the vocals, or neither for the lyrics. The hole track is made out of loops from here - I'm not a musician, just a looparranger...sorry to disappoint You.
I have to slightly disagree with my esteemed colleague on about the drums. I actually like them. I think I would add more percussion building throughout the song to make it's mark. Overall what an amazing improvement in loop control and sounds, and you still get to include your signature echo-verb sound on the vocal, which gives the mix a Jamaican dub feel. (check out, Sly & Robbie, and Osbourne "King Tubby" Ruddock, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Errol Thompson ) and you will see that you are emulating some of there style. Great Job , keep looping your getting better by the day! :-)
Hi there!
Alright - You like the drums, I do to but I also can see what JoeFunktastic is talking about - actually I think it's that the piano doesn't sync with the drums all the way. It takes away the flow somehow.
Well, that I'm going to try to fix, and also increasing the pianosound should help a bit. And letting the drums build up is a definite Yes!
Oh, I SO want to be emulating Sly & Robbie, even a little tiny bit of emulating them will do!!! I love those Epic artists!
(The rest of them (Lee Perry etc.) not so much - I maybe should cut down on the reeverb and echoes a bit? lol
Or could it just be that I'm not really getting there Music? There are Epic too, no doubt.)
Thank you SO much for taking your time, listening and giving advice!
Have a nice day/ SJ

If you liked The Benefit of a Doubt ft Farisha and Isaiah Page by SeriouslyJoking you might also like these other Dance tracks.
Description : I have been using LooperMan for practice for some time now. This my most recent track. The only loop in the song is BabyGee's vocals. Free to download and if you repost tag me so I can share it as well.
Description : A psychedelic techno cello epic. It's not really techno as it's only 110 BPM but something like that (eg breakbeat), with lots of banging beats and arpeggiated acid synths, plus a whole load of my layered cello playing techniques. There aren't that many synths used but they do a lot of work and are carefully automated. No guitar. Drums are mostly a lot of drum loops, supported by a few programmed acoustic drumkits. Very busy and complicated with loads of different sections (funky, chilled, fast, heavy) that make up a constantly progressing trip. I don't know if there's any other cello music like this so let me know if you think there is. Interesting feedback appreciated - criticism, praise, ideas etc. Enjoy...
Description : Summer type dance track, for those precious 2 weeks off, if you can get them! Made around a selection of different loops and some keys from me.
Description : Inspired by an experimental percussion piece I heard. Rhythmic ticking builds into pounding beats and heavy soundscapes. I haven't done any mixing or mastering yet so tell me what you think. Any and all comments are welcome.
Description : A song about a damaged soul. Sadly, based on a true story. Gorgeous loops here are by Hardstyle Rythm, Aboe, and Princess Hollywood. All basslines by that fiendish genius Rasputin. Take a bow, gentlemen
Thanks for listening!
I'm thinking about working with this track but every time I try to get on with it something else comes up...
=)
