Description : Today I took one synth not really designed for percussion (Thor) and used it to create snare sounds. Then I looped the 'snares' with some FX to make these experimental percussion loops. FX used include FilterStep, Magic Dice, EFX Refract and Softube Amp. All made within Reason.

Description : Experiments with FM synthesis. Using my Yamaha V50 to create spacey ethereal sounds to put texture and atmosphere in tracks. These sounds shine if you drown them in even more reverb and push them right back in the mix as a texture bed. FM synthesis is great for creating atonal and unsettling sounds.

Description : Flechtwerk is a wonderful techno synth based on the Plaits Eurorack module. It is (unbelievably) free and used to be only available in M4L format but is now VST3 compatible. If you make techno of any variety you should grab a copy! These demo sounds were made using just Flechtwerk and my favourite delay (Replika).

Description : Behringer Edge. White noise chopped and filtered in a Drum Rack. Super Saturator, Phasis Phaser and Magic Dice reverb. Easy way to make lots of different Techno percussions. These patterns are deliberately sparse so that they add movement to basic techno drums. Add your own 4x4 kick and hi-hat to feel the groove!

Description : MC-505 running through the bit reduction and lo-fi FX in the SP-606. Really crunchy and dirty top loops for any kind of EDM needing a bit of grit. No further FX added on the computer - just raw recordings of the hardware.

Description : I used my RD-9 and my Edge and combined them for techno craziness. No computer FX on these loops - just two hardware techno boxes working together to make chaos. You can use a rhythmic trance gate on these to tame them a bit and they go easily in the mix.
