Arranging has become such a part of how we produce music.
The artistry is in the details.
The feel, the motion, the emotion.
Though it now may indeed be possible for one to produce convincing music without previous music training, be it classical or via the trial and error of real world experience, I still feel there is a heart and soul spirit within a piece produced by a true musician that seems to be missing when loops are simply bunched together. You are the real deal Randy.
As a fellow musician who knows what it's like to make music on a live stage under the critical eyes and ears of an audience, you have my respect.
Voltage
Hi Voltage,
Thanks for your nice comments. I appreciate them very much. I believe your very correct in that playing live on stage, as I also did for a number of years, you get a feel of how you'll be 'judged' by the first tune you play live.
If it sucks, not many people will stick around to hear the rest of your songs. First impressions count so much in everything in life.
Whether I make songs from loops or record 'live' from here at home, I have to have my own input into every song I do. Otherwise, I am just duplicating someone elses thoughts.
With all the great keyboards out there today, etc, it is so easy just to use 1 finger and create an 'amazing rhythm section' that would take 10+ musicians on stage to duplicate.
I have one of those (Korg Karma) and haven't used it.. yet..on here.
Thanks for the comments Voltage, I appreciate your work very much as well.
Randy
I realize I have reviewed this previously, however when I need to find comfort from the storm, I seek out those things that provide sanctuary. I come back to this song of peace performed with such sensitive emotion to cradle me from the world and remind me that there is indeed hope. I find peace and hope in this sound. I am home.
Voltage
Peppermint,
I find so much inspiration in this message.
I have a track I need to share with you. Perhaps I will post it here. I put together a very similar track a few years a go that i believe you will appreciate. Your track is very concise. Thank you for remembering and reminding us that the dream is very much alive.
Voltage
Ideas abound.
Worthy of embellishment and then some.
I know folks keep saying it has a raggae feel, but I am leaning more towards a Rush Power Windows thing....or is that Grace Under Pressure?
Cool track anyway you look at it.
Voltage
Interesting groove.
I tried singing a few ideas with the very nice melody.
Can't promise anything as of yet, but I might give it a shot at embellishing.
I'll check out some more of your tracks as soon as I can. Is there a particular one you feel needs a vocal right away?
Otherwise I'll listen, imagine and go from there. Like I said, no promises yet as I am about to do a couple weeks road time, but I did find this track pretty cool with lot's of room to imagine the potential.
Voltage
Excellent work here.
I sense the direction of your vision.
Just keep doing what you are doing.
I see and hear great potential.
You are evolving as an artist.
I look forward to observing your creativity.

Hi Voltage,
Thanks again for reviewing this song. This was my first creation with using software as mentioned in the heading. I found later that my master volume wasn't up to red book code, so I have since fixed that and some other minor levels, but I didn't repost the song is all.
Am glad you liked it as I enjoyed making it. I don't sing so I am afraid all my songs will be instrumentals. Most complain that it was too short, so I try and make subsequent songs near the 3 min. length at least.
Randy
Nice feel.
Great construction and beautiful engineering.
Playing this on the mains in my studio and it just rocks.
Perfect levels........serious quality.
Excellent work.
Direct to my Favs.....

Hi Sky Voltage,
Thanks so much for listening to several of my tracks and for becoming a new fan. :-)
Since it takes me about a month or 2 to create a song and mix it properly, I am afraid I don't have many songs posted as I just started music creation with Pro Tools last Nov.
7 to date in fact. I believe in quality rather than quanity, plus I work a lot, so time is limited. I like a variety of music from Blues to Country and rock.
I play 6 different instruments and what I can't play, I get off royality free loop disk.
I am glad you liked this Alternate type Rock song. I had fun putting it together.
I will review more of your songs over this weekend!

Pedro,

Nice production by the way.

I imagine a female voice narration over the top.
Of course that's not unusual for me, I do artist development. When I hear this very cool groove with a friendly feel pouring out of my studio speakers, it's as if the sound is just begging for a soft but confident female voice to realize the true potential.
You have a talent for building these cool grooves. Find a voice and tell the stories that are waiting inside the songs to be born.
Quality work.
Voltage
I think you might be right.I know some people who can sing,my mother being 1 of them but ive never recorded lyrics into reason and I wouldnt know where to start.Maybe ill put a post up on how to do so!Cheers voltage keep creating those amazing arrangements.Top man.

Cool mate....I dig those nylon strings (a lot easier on the fingernails)...I think I might be about to embark on a quasi Celtic phase in my playing...must be a roots type of thing..we'll see...cheers mate :)
Feels good to me.
I love it when the percussion slides into the groove.
I think the production stands up even before your mentioned mastering considerations.
If you get a chance, track down a record by Yello called Pocket Universe. This would fit nicely into that universe.
Nice, Deep, Cool.
