on This is Wat it do by ballhousebeats
Really good beat on this track. I definitely got into the groove with it. My only suggestion is that I'd like to have heard a bit more variation as the track progressed. I started hoping that I'd hear a new chord progression come in, or a melodic synth line. You clearly have the fundamentals of making a really good beat down. I'd encourage you to get more experimental with chord progressions, melody lines, and structure. If you are going for a trance type of track, then repetition with only minor variations is fine. I really like trance, but from what I hear in this track I think you have more to offer.

on Where Are You Now - featuring Kate Lesing by midiman007
I really enjoyed this track. Midiman. Yes, it is pop and yes it has a retro sound to it, but I LIKE pop and like retro! :) The instrumental backing is very lush. On occasion the timing of the vocals did not match the plus (tempo) of the backing track. If you have the software, I'd attempt some time stretching to change the phrasing of the vocals so that align better. Most of the time they were fine. You have the "Where are you now" refrain repeat 4 times in the track. I actually think it would be more effective if it only repeated twice. I know that 4 repeats of things seems to be a standard practice in EDM, but for pop and for this track in particular, i'd see how it feels cut back to 2 repeats.

But, all in all, I really liked the song. Thanks for posting it!

Thanks for your comments. I will try and fit the vocals a bit tighter in the track on the next remix. I think the Drums sounds need some work on the current mix.

on if i had one wish interlude by larrybarrow31
Again, a really fine soulful track from you, Larry. I've said it before, you have a great voice and delivery for this kind of material. You really know how to do it.

In my view, this track provides the base for something even better. It needs to be extended with full lyrics and more parts with different chord progressions. I don't hear it as benefiting from a rapper. I'd like to hear it fleshed out as a fully formed R&B song. Would love to hear that.

on I cry by benjizo
Just found your track, Benjizo. Great groove on this one. I really liked the melody line. Very soulful. Actually, although I liked the track as is, I really really wanted to hear that vocal without the pitch shifting, with an extended set of lyrics and some funky horns. But, that's just because I love classic R&B and this great track of yours had that at its heart! Keep well.

on jazz dance sample by yappy
Definitely not your average EDM track here on Looperman! This has a lot of promise, Yappy! I listened to the whole track and it maintained my interest. I was intrigued by the solo parts which seemed to be in a different key than the backing stuff, but worked really well. I don't know how to do that. It's must my own taste, but I would lose the sound effects at the beginning and middle. I think they actually detract from the musicality of the track. Guitar work is very nice. I am very big on good phrasing, and gaps in lead lines so that the silence functions as part of the composition. I think you did some nice work in that regard, particularly with the lead guitar work at the latter half of the track.

Hello,

Thnx for the comment and sorry for replying that late. I was already thinking to get rid of those effects but....on the other hand it adds something to it. Without it sounds like your average jazz-dance track in my humble opinion. It's still a demo and needs a lot of work. I already have some ideas but I have to work them out first. By the way...all the loops you hear in this track where from members. Not one of'em is mine. The guitar parts were from ferry if I'm correct.

Glad you liked it so far. I'll post the end result later on.
Thnx again for stopping by. I'm off to check your tracks.

An excellent song, Larry. Very soulful. You have a great voice for this. Very nice arrangement.

I see that you are using pre-recorded Obrian Music tracks that insert this audio watermark periodically. Please consider allowing me to try my hand at a collab with you sometime. My tracks aren't nearly as good as Obrian's, but it would be a real pleasure to work on one of your tracks.

on Noi doi - Behnam Zandi featuring Corina Ruxandra by deciBel
This is an exceptionally fine piece of music and a wonderful REAL performance by both you and Corina. I agree, she must return to music. I've had long periods when the realities of life drove out music, but I've always found a way back somehow. I hope that will happen for her as well.

In addition to Corina's excellent vocals, I must say that that the guitar work on this track was really well done. Very tasteful accompaniment. True musicianship. I'm not sure I'd put a full orchestral backing to it, but I found myself wondering what a solo cello might sound like, playing a counter-melody. But, truth be told, this track doesn't need anything more. It's just right as it is.

on forgive me by larrybarrow31
Larry: I'm not going to have time to post detailed comments because I want to listen to as many of your tracks as possible tonight. Just let me say that I really liked this one and, although I'm not a religious person, I recognized and respect the spirit and the message. It's late for me, so I'll need to get back to more of your tracks tomorrow, but I'm really glad I discovered you on Looperman! Good music!

on ups and downs by beatzmode ft larrybarrow31 by larrybarrow31
Hey, Larry. I grew up on classic R&B and this just reminded me so much of the music I love most. You have a really interesting charter to your voice and it worked really well with the track by beatzmode. I see from your profile that you relate to some of greats of classic R&B and I can hear the influences. I will now need to check out to see if you have other vocal tracks uploaded here. Like Alex, I wanted the song to be longer. That means, for me, it was definitely connecting. Thanks to you and beatzmode for this one. You absolutely need to do more!

on Dust From The Stars by Maffin159
A very unique track. Dorian mode, eh? It worked really well and I also liked the use of a drone-like orchestral backdrop. I thought it was really effective. Not your standard fare for Looperman, but then none of your tracks have been run-of-the-mill efforts. You also seem to be able to find very promising acappellas, or perhaps you just know how to make them into something that sounds special. I'm really glad I discovered these tracks. A bit late to the party, but at least I got here!

on Rain Comes Down by Maffin159
OK, now you really must tell me. Is that you singing? And, did you do the lyrics as well as the melody? The song sounds so familiar, which to me means that it hits home. I know this was a test of a new mic and that you wanted to keep it simple, but I do think the levels could have been higher overall. I know that you have a tendency to post remastered versions of your tracks. I can see doing a bit more work on this one, but I don't think this needs a full-blown orchestral accompaniment. I think it is much more effective simple and relatively sparse, so the focus is on the voice and the words.

on I Will Learn by Maffin159
Matt, I assume that's you doing the singing on this track? Sounds really good. I like the simplicity and your (usual) excellent orchestration. You get much better results that I do with orchestral arrangements. It can't just be that you have better sounding VSI's that I do. That being said, this is one track where I wish you'd uploaded the acappella because I might be inclined to try an entirely different backing track for the vocals. Not sure what, exactly, but there's a mellotron in there someplace I think! :)

on Dim the Lights - Feat Veela by Maffin159
Another really nice track, Matt. I like the fact that you combined and EDM/pop arrangement with some orchestral elements throughout. People have commented that my tracks tend to be a bit spartan, although that's never been my intent. This track sounds really good to me with a variety of layers/textures coming in. I also try not to get too much repetition in my arrangements and I like that fact that you've been judicious in that department as well. I'm never sure whether to repeat a hook, or just let it be. I think you definitely got the right balance with this one.

on Make Me Go - Feat Bonnie Rabson by Maffin159
Hey, Matt. I missed this track when it was first posted, but discovered it today after I heard your latest (very quiet) track. This is really fine piece of instrumental work. I'm am very impressed. You have woven in various orchestral instruments really nicely. I particularly liked the oboe, which is one of my favourites. I felt that the fade out ending wasn't entirely satisfying, but that's my only quibble. I must now listen to your other tracks since it appears I've been missing something really good for too long! :)

Just saw your post in the forums about the new acapellas and decided to check out your tracks I realize that this is an oldie, but just wanted to say that I really enjoyed it. Vocals and instrumental backing are excellent! The lyric in the second half, "busy nights and slow days" is a great line. Sounds like something the Eagles would have written. Must listen to your other tracks now.

OK, Jacques. I don't hear this as hip hop, but as a really nice backing track for a ballad type pop song. Yes, the violins are very nice! I really like it when strings don't just play accompaniment chords, but provide a bit of a counter melody. That's something I need to do better on my tracks.

on Novabass - Transcend by Novabass
Hi, Novabass! I saw your post in the forums and decided to check out your work. Nice house track. I liked the tasty melody line and vocals worked really well. My only critique might be that I'd like to hear more differentiation among the various instruments in the mix. Not sure if that's a function of reverb, EQ, or overall mix levels. That's probably a matter of taste, but I like to hear each part distinctly in the mix. At least most of the time I do. :)

Anyway, please post some more of your stuff. I didn't think that track was overly light, so I am definitely interested in hearing other tracks that you have done. And, welcome to Looperman!

Hey thx for the positive feedback and warm welcome - you identified the one thing I'm still working on with the overall mix levels. I'll be posting some more soon for potential collaborations soon, because most of my stuff is unfinished I thought I'd start with one that was :) - if you like what you hear then I'd love to work together some time, I checked out your tracks and they're pretty awesome.

on GUIT ACT HIP HOP BEAT AND NICE VIOLONS by jacquesdemers
Both are fun tracks, Jacques, although for different reasons. Yes, the first one is tacky, but actually I think if deconstructed and with some changes in lyrics, it could be a really good one for somebody like R Kelly. The sax part is great. Who did that? You know really good musicians!

I liked the second one as well and I don't really get into heavy metal much. Wanted it to be longer and posted as a separate track.

Jacques: HardstyleRhythm, who is from Germany, recommended that you check out a singer named, Mark Ratcliffe. I looked him up on Soundcloud. Small world! He's from Bancroft Ontario, about an hour from where my cottage is located!

By the way, I really like the second track (segment) as well. That's something I could lay a melody line on. But, I can't play guitar anymore and can't sing, so that will just be for my own enjoyment. Take care and keep the tracks coming.

Jacques: check out the tracks done by Tumbleweed here on Looperman. He's a guitarist and has great tone. I think he'd be able to lay a really tasteful lead guitar line on the first track.

on Fidiu feat Romy Harmony - Echo by fidiu
Excellent track, Fidiu! I agree with you it sounds great. This may be your first track on Looperman, but it can't possibly your first track ever. Sounds very professional. I particularly like the way you have integrated the vocal and the underlying instrumental backing. Its a very sophisticated polyrhythm. Mix sounds excellent. I have downloaded this one and will be playing it on my iPhone as I go to work this morning. Thanks for uploading it and for allowing downloads. This is the kind of track that I'd like to be able to make.

Many thanks for your positive feedback! A coplle of weeks ago I have found here an acapella of romy and then hit me.... I started to build around her voice. And yes ....it's not my first track, but it's my first one that sound almost professional, of course I'm subjective...But the positive reply gives me hopes that my future tracks will be aswel appreciated. Anyway thanks and I'm glad that it will be on your playlist

on 5 songs from past to now by jacquesdemers
First song: Wonderful groove! I love R&B. Great orchestration. i particularly liked the very tasteful guitar part.

Second song: great chorus.

Third song: I agree with midisparks. Very rich synths and vocal backing is excellent.

Fourth song: I think this could be a soundtrack to animated film. Crazy mechanical toys bopping around, slightly out of control. Lots of fun!

Fifth song: Very europop sounding track. I am not ashamed to admit that I like pop music. At least some of it anyway. Interesting chord progression. I didn't expect the modulation, which is a good thing. I wanted to hear more. I assume there is a longer version?

Hi, Jacques. L'ete en Ottawa sucks big time. Il fait froid, il pleut, pas du soleil. La meme chose en Montreal?

Most people on Looperman would not understand vive le quebec libre, but I do.

It would be very nice to collaborate aver vows sometime, but I know that vous êtes très occupé and, unlike me, you make a living from music so that must take priority. Mais, peut-être, someday we will be able to do something tout ensemble.

Pour vous je vais essayer parler en français. Actually, I guess c'est vraiment un melange du français et anglais! :)
