Extremely well done!
My only complaint so far ... I'm going in for a second listen in a moment ... is the synth that comes in as a perfectly nice surprise at 0.56 goes out again at 1.12 in a not quite right way. Leaves me hanging.
It goes out at the wrong point or too quickly or both.
I think I would have faded that out and maybe even experiment with it still having a quiet but still fading presence beyond the 1.12 mark now far behind the vocal.
Had a second sitting and wow.
This is very well done.
Love the ending.
For the life of me I can't get vocals samples in anything I do.
I've tried and tried but nope.
But you have put the vocals in so well I'm inspired to try yet again.
You have given me ideas.
Watch this space.
Great work.
Thanks you so so much for the listen and comment .. really appreciate that !
And yeah I Will make the changes as you said .. thanks for the tip .. and keep listeting man !
Yes you should try and finish the track
Yes you can sing.
Singing hopefully still isn't only acceptable from cute looking boys and girls with nice twee voices.
Bob Dylan can't sing to save his life yet he's possibly the most successful singer in the last hundred years or one of them.
Some very successful singers who didn't fit the cute voice bit ..... Lou Reed.
Tom Waits.
Johnny Cash.
Willie Nelson.
You can sing Gip.
Plenty of room for you.
I on the other hand can't.
It sounds pretty good now up the game a little with some energy some despair some sorrow some hope some wow factor bollox .... come on boy and belt it out.
You doing okay.
Hey man really appreciate it. I will for sure finish the track haha. It's really hard to bring energy without confidence so that is definitely something I'll work on. Thanks again man! Much love!
Sorry about that.
I'm struggling with a free version of Ableton that came with my keyboard at the present time and boy I'm finding it complicated. Best I'm managing so far is making loops on it with my MIDI keyboard.
The horns at 127 sound a little loud.
Well done putting this together.
I think I have the same loops sitting idle because I just can never stitch together this kind of stuff.
Machines were mice
and men were lions
once upon a time but
now that it's the opposite
it's twice upon a time
The meaning being machines were nothing compared to men but now it's the opposite.
And the whole thing sounds like it makes sense but it doesn't.
It comes from an album from my misspent youth back in the early seventies. From an album called Stomping Ground by Moondog.
Moondog was also known as the Viking of 6th avenue. He made albums toured all over the place and insisted on being homeless. He stomped around New York dressed as a viking. Very interesting guy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moondog
What he would think of the world today I can't imagine.
Have a listen to this .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ__4VUhCIk The world doesn't seem to have characters like this anymore.
He MUST be the "Moondog" who is referred to on the famous Janis Joplin live album, that I have listened to religiously over the years.
She even said that he "dressed like a viking" on the record we have! The song was credited to him, way beck then, and my wife and I have grown up with this credit.
It's weird living where we do right now, as out city still has characters like this... we've been interacting with the same people since we moved in together in 1996. "Crazy Greg" (Who is no crazier than myself)... "Deaf Ricky" who sees more than I've ever seen. Kevin who they've been trying to catch stealing bikes since '94... appar3ently we've become a fixture now. SAD.
I'm the guy, who just today carried a cottonwood log home for several miles. We scare the scaries.
Thank you for reminding me of your comment and listen. "We love you"
Hey Silverman, thanks for stopping by. I agree with you this one can be taken in a lot of different directions if I choose to add more to it. I decided to keep this one very simple and for what I was going for, I'm pretty happy with the result.
Who at 1.14 I heard Willy The Pimp and the Captain and Frank too. Bit of Edgar Broughton Band as well. (British Band)
I have long hair again and it's 1974.
Great stuff.
I can hear a lot of influences in this that were on my record deck at one time or another.
Guess you have quite the collection on that deck; personally i switched to sd cards... the whole of 1974 on a thumbnail sized piece of plastic : ) Long hair was nice although mine was in the 90's, tanx for stopping by man.
Terence McKenna lives!!!!
As he once said or maybe thrice .... chaos is what we've lost touch with.
For those who don't know Terence ws one of the worlds most famous
psychonauts.
I eagerly look forward to listening to your stuff Spiv.
When I see your name I know it's time to take a ride.
What a ride.
You go way beyond any frontiers the rest of us here even glimpse.
I can smell the solder.
You're driven.
You're a mad scientist.
You have to be the most creative person amongst us.
Enjoyed the listen and intend listening again.
Keep on keeping on Spiv and always remember ...
Machines were mice

My friend Silverman, you have once again made my day with your words! I had no idea that so many regular users around here had not yet heard this track, so I'm happy that I re-featured it. For some reason, I assumed it was mostly due to the adult content.
I'm thinking that you are the only person who has identified McKenna in this one, and that also makes me happy...that someone still knows. Recently learned that Dennis McKenna is apparently stationed at the U of Minnesota very near here... wonder if I could track him down? "Chaos is what we've lost touch with" is something which is beginning to make sense, it seems like it refers to the extreme obsession that humans have developed with controlling all aspects of life. I have my moments of this obsession as well, however where natural growth/development is concerned, I try to take a more balanced approach. There is already far too much control, and life is already too convenient.
Your compliments are not taken lightly, and you give me renewed inspiration in these all too difficult times. I also realise that you have been struggling as well, and simply seeing you here is important to me.
Being driven, while it does usually help in creative matters, also gets me into trouble and stretches me beyond my capabilities. I have to switch into a lower gear or reverse, simply to protect myself. I'm getting better at it, which is why The Dept of Ag is invetigating public schools for me instead of me sitting in jail, after Wednesdays travesties.
In you closing comments, I read into it possibly differently from the intentions. It seems to me that men are machines, and lions are mice these days. Maybe I'll be a mechanical man-mouse with incisors some day.
I really like the music.
I'm no judge of vocalists really as I'm a mostly instrumental lover but it doesn't sound that bad apart from vanishing into the distance at some points. The music is fantastic.
I like this .... a lot.
But .... you probably won't like my take on it Mofo.
To me this is very dark ... weird creepy.
I hear a psychopathic murderer luring someone in to a bloody axe swinging party .... for two.
It's half past five in the morning I'm outof bed because it's just to hot to sleep and the first thing I play is this and I'm going back to bed after this cup of tea.
I'm going to fave this and I'm coming back to it later to see if it still has the same affect on me.
Brilliant.
Thank you, Silverman. Yes there's a psychopathic murderer lurking in there with a bloody axe, who looks a little like the German ancestors of me except that I actually wouldn't hurt a fly. Well, ok a fly. That grinding bass, which to some might be ugly, to me is beautiful because it expresses a true state of being which is being worked through with great effort. To trust someone in this world of betrayals is an act of great daring and a terrible psychic challenge - so that's what that music is all about. I guess you could say I was working through some stuff when I wrote that song - and still am - and probably always will be. Thanks as always for your perceptive and interesting feedback!
?It's only rock n roll but I like it like it yes I dooooo!
I'm rubbish with genres. The heavy stuff I listened to as a youngster was Sabbath Groundhogs Hendrix Edgar Broughton Band.
Never got into metal.
This for me is heavy rock and near perfect heavy rock at that.
The drums?
You tried using loops cut chopped mixed layered?
Ha, thanks. Yes, love the Rock and Roll. I love everything from The Doors to Zep to Metallica.
The problem with the drums is I used the shitty drum track to work with and lost the Master in a computer crash before I could switch them out. So this is what I am stuck with.
Sounds good but a whole day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish.
My humble efforts take three or four hours a day for a couple of weeks.
How do you people do it?
Remember Jamid?
He was knocking out tunes twice a week!
I could never do that.
What am I missing?
Whast happened to Jamid by the way?
When I upload a track onto Looperman, I do it for feedback. I'll keep improving the track based on the comments I receive until I feel it's finally finished. At this point it's not "released".
When the track is finally done, I'll upload it to my YouTube and SoundCloud page, complete with artwork and all that stuff. That's when it's actually released. No more changes will be made to the track after that point.
Hope I managed to clear things up, though it's a little late Haha
Gawwwwd my head!
My head phones met in the middle of my head!
That's some wallop you got going there.
Nice panning effects to make it very wide.
I'm useless at genres and have started labelling everything I do pop.
Neat piece and different too which is always welcome.
