I'm almost half-tempted to call this Chillout, because of how relaxing it is. Though I dunno, coz the beat keeps the interest up (and prevents me from yawnin, haha). Who'd've thought, a House slow-jam. Nice one mate. Keep bangin on!
First suggestion would be to link to this *Review page instead of the players URL when posting in the forums and stuff (just FYI). Anyways, I'm diggin how laid back & slow this is. It isn't often that I hear decently done slow jams on here (mostly folks mis-categorizing their tunes as Ambient or Chillout, for example). I could def see myself dancing with my lady to this. Def puts the mind in good vibes. Cheers!
Cool stuff mate. Nice abuse of the wax here, haha. The only thing I think I'd recommend on this is to take a break from playin that one scratch loop maybe once or twice (coz havin it go all the way through the track is kind of a bit much, if it were my mix I'd cut it when they guitars and/or synth start to play, maybe also with Elaine's voc-sam {?}). Also, think about using the "Do it" voc-sam some more (diggin the way ya had it at the end). Otherwise, it was a pretty solid piece. Lates!
(Update: Yeah, that's it. I just wasn't sure if it was hers or not. Anyways, I'll catch ya later mate.)
Pretty groovin stuff here mate. Really diggin the organ action here. And its nice to hear someone usin Michael's vox in the mix. Keep bangin 'em on mate. Lates!
Pretty serious stuff going on here. Def a head bopper, but it is a show stopper? Perhaps, but first I'd recommend stretchin this out to be about, say 1:15 longer. I also would like to hear someone flowin on this. Has anyone sent you anything like that? Anyways, cool jam. Lates!
Diggin the mellow vibe mixed with the dark old skool Electro vibe here. Advice, the piano bit that comes in @ around 1:37 sounds like it's clipping really bad. As is this sounds like the RAW vers of this song (needs polishing/mastering). I think its a decent concept, ya just needta tighten it up now. Keep bangin on mate. Lates!
Its no worries chica, there are alot of us on here that are still learning to perfect our craft. I think that this has some really cool things going for it. Especially the bassline (when its being played with the basic beat & paino). Some things you might want to consider are tightening up the composition. Like if you go to introduce something new try working on transitioning it in more smootly (it seems a bit jarring when you just have something suddenly start playing with something else just cutting out). Best way to do that is by adding fades at the beginning and end of things. This one just needs a little polishing and it'll be good to go. Lates!
Def a serious piece of concrete goodness here. And though I'm not really a huge fan of Dubstep, I like the way it works here with the Drum&Bass. And the voc-sams are keen. If I were a wrestler I think I'd have to make this my intro music, haha. Will def save/fave this one. Thanks for making/sharing mate. Lates!
I'm more DnB head, and I like dubstep, but I just not feel comfortable producing DS ... so that the combination of DS and Dnb (drumstep) is more "my thing", combine a couple of elements from two genres is straight fun!Still working on this, but I'm glad you like it!
Thanks for listening and review, fav and save, much appreciated!
Interesting way ya used that vocal sample for the synth hit. Cool drum beat too. And the main vox are kinda interesting. Dunno how I feel about 'em. Hmm, I'm thinkin that they might be better in another language (mostly) with spots of it still in English (like the chorus, maybe?). The only other thing that I'd suggest is going back to make sure you aren't getting any red peaks in the meter if/when you go to remaster this (sounds like you've got some distortion & clipping happening at the higher volumes). Keep bangin 'em out mate. Lates!
Been a while since I stopped by yer page. How've things been goin for ya amigo? Stuff's cooler now that I graduated (but I still gotta go back for my Gen AA Lib Arts stuff so I can transfer up).
Anyways, let's check out this track...
Cool vibes here mate. And I can see why ya chose her vox, coz they seem painfully playful. I like the way ya took this in a different direction (most stuff I've heard with her so far has been Pop-related). Def diggin the horns here and the key treatment (bass/leads) is prolly my fav parts of this. My only complaint would come from its (slight) brevity. I'd love to have heard it for like a minute longer, but that's cool. Sweet vibes mate. Lates!
Pretty jammin piece you got here mate. Smooth & solid composition all around. The only thing that I'd suggest is to bring in & add another, more powerful kick to the drums (coz at the moment they seem kinda flat). Otherwise, this was pretty cool. Keep bangin on!
Lates.
Pretty smooth jam right here (though its kinda short). Just one thing, watch out for red spikes on the meter when you're going to master this (as it sounds like you've got some clipping going on). Keep bangin 'em out mate. Lates!
I'm so glad to stumble across another person on here that does Psy-trance. We seem to be a rare breed on here, haha. It def has that classic 90s vibe to it (takin me back to the golden age of it all). I think my fav bits of this are the voc-sams and the synth treatment (leads & pads). And since you've extended the offer I might try my hand at playin around with this. Will letcha know if/when I do. Very nice jam ya made here & thanks for sharing mate. Keep bangin 'em out. Lates!
Hey Donnie :)
Yep. Classic Psy like the sound we had back in the 90's is rare nowadays :) That's why I gave it a shot.
I'm glad you like the track and I'll give your songs a listen tomorrow :)
Cheers,
Daniel
Pretty cool stuff mate. Kinda reminds me of what Robert Miles did on some of his songs on the Organik album. The only thing that I'd recommend (would like to hear) is more variety, or, have the stuff on here come along quicker. As is, it seems like its calling for something like that (more stuff, more action, I dunno). Otherwise, this was a pretty solid start you've got goin on here. Keep bangin 'em out mate. Lates!
Hey mate,
Dunno why, but the track aint playin (the player just reads 0000). Just figured that I'd give you a heads up on that. Try reloading the track via the *Edit option (maybe that'll fix the problem). Hopefully that helps. Later on!
Yeah, I've got to agree with ELSD there. I'm really diggin the way this starts with the airiness of the pads & percs. Though it did seem to stretch out a little too long (perhaps you might want to consider cutting it back, by say, 20 seconds or so). The bass comes in rather nicely (and I dig the sound font & effects you've got on them). The lead synths are also nice (good choice of sound font again), though they do seem a little flat IMO (maybe think about copying them, moving them down just a few frames/spaces, and add some effects to them, like say, a medium or hall reverb). Also enjoying the second set of synths you've got on here (nice font & effects). Though just like how I suggested trimming down the length of the drum intro, I'd also suggest moving the introduction to these back (so it doesn't take as long for them to kick in and for pacing purposes). And if that jeopardizes the length of your song you could fix that by amending the current end of the song to just have them and maybe either just the bass or just the drums playing along side them (then bring everything back for the end, with say, some fast pan treatment) for the end. Otherwise, this was a great start mate. Keep banging them out. Later on!
Digging the mix of rap & singin here (wish more artists would do that, ya know). Oh, and the rapper on here sounds so familiar (kinda makes me think of that guy from The Bloodhound Gang). The piano & beat are cool too. Though yer def gonna wanna go back & remaster this coz you sound like you've got alotta clipping going on at the higher volumes (avoid those red spikes on the meter). Otherwise, this is a pretty nice jam. Keep bangin 'em out mate. Lates!
Thanks for listening and reviewing. I've never been compared to the BHG before but I'm not complaining. Thanks for the heads up on the clipping. I never even noticed that the red means above 0.0 db. You think by now I would've learned a thing or two. I'll try to post some more rap with singers. Cheers :)
Really diggin the slow synths & bassline here. Kinda makes me think of those old Detective flicks from the 30s/40s. Funny thing there, my buddy Jon is gonna do a music video to a song that's by a local rapper (where I'm imagining a similar theme being good for both). His vers is about 3 scenes where people deal with the struggles of life and mine is a basic alleyway chase scene (along the same lines, of 'the struggles'). If ya don't mind I might haveta play with doin a mix of this. Nicely done chica. Later on!
Heya Blair, I'm getting it in mono too. I suspect that the crackling is related to the mono thing. Dunno what program yer using to record these, but there are a few ways around it (if it was inadvertently captured that way).
1.) Take track & copy it,
2.) Place it on the next channel,
3.) Click on the HELP menu and select Index,
4.) Now search for- Mono To Stereo, Make Stereo Pair, Swap Channels, (Make) Mono Left...
(kind of a tricky pain in the butt coz it varies from program to program, sadly {shakes head}).
As for the song, its pretty powerful and I imagine its for those who've gone through rehab, coz most of the addicts I know are too self-absorbed to be mindful of the feelings of those around them (course, that'd depend on the drug, was thinking coke & speed with the above). Besides the previously mentioned issues this isn't half-bad for your first go 'round @ recording. Keep bangin on brother!
Cool club sounds going on here. Heck, a DJ could spin this into a variety of sets (not just HH & Rap stuff). Like I could see this being used along with some Miami Bass stuff, or Booty House, or for Jungle/Drum&Bass/Breaks, or even some Psy-trance. This is pretty wild man and I think its fine as is... I somehow think that if this had lyrics it wouldn't be as good/cool, ya know? Anyways, nicely done mate. Keep bangin on!
It kills me that over 100 people could play this (and even 1 downloaded it) without so much as giving 1 review (lazy ppl, shakes head).
Haha, the "Go" voc-sam is givin me flashbacks to all of those Go labelled songs from the late 90s. The track does bounce around a bit. Interesting blend of styles here (probably gonna sound like a noob, but what is 'Jarvis'?). And I dunno why, but this makes me think of the kinda stuff they played during the parking garage party scenes in the film The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift. Come to think of it, this'd be pretty sweet to listen to while playing on of the Need For Speed games, ya know? Anyways, nicely done mate. Lates!
Pretty impressive for a freestyle mate. I mean, ya went for about 1:15 before ya ran outta gas. Haha @ the political rambling. The only thing I would suggest is smoothing out the qual on the vox by throwing a filter or two on 'em ('specially one to get rid of that background hum that's evident at the beginning of the track). I'd even consider redoing this seriously (going through to tweak & improve the lyrics, mainly for the second part). I think you'd have a certified banga if ya did that. Beyond that this was pretty cool mang. Keep bangin on mate. Lates!
Sounds more like a mix between airy Trance and light Italio Dance to me (the song is too upbeat to be Chill Out IMO). Really digging the echo FX ya threw on the synths here and the key placement is nicely done. An overall enjoyable track! And there isn't a single thing I could think to suggest for this. A def banger mate. Cheers!
I def hear what yer saying about not wanting to overwrite the original work doc (I often will do the same thing, doca, docb, docc). Though what I end up doing is going with the doc that feels like its got the best groove (might consider following yer lead with posting the diff versions). And its kind of a shame that this track is so short, because it has such a sweet vibe to it (especially starting @ around 0:43 & 0:60 , my fav parts of this BTW). You plan on continuing work on this one? Lemme know if ya do mate. Def has potential. Lates!
I actually, for a third time started completely over with this track back in April, which is (I think) my longest track to date. Again, a compeltely different feel to this version of the song, and I've gone crazy with it. If you wanna check it out, you can click here: http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/103040
Sorry for taking so long to reply, I didn't notice this review until just. T
Thanks for the review, I'll go check out some of your stuff now :)
About the Vocoded stuff, you can bump 'em up by doubling/tripling the number of layers you have for them (ie, pan 1 100% left, middle centered, pan 3 100% right, & possibly bump up all by +3 on the mixer). And the FX are pretty nice. So is the stuttered piano. Beyond that, the only other thing I could suggest is maybe adding some distort to a copy of one of yer synths (to give it a faux Rock vibe, if ya wanna take this in a harder direction w/fiercer kicks, etc.). Anyways, cool stuff mate. Lates!
