I have no idea how it is that I have not come across this gem of a tune before, but I'm thrilled to have now. This song has a classic sensibility. It is a throwback to the Argo-Chess Records Days. Lyrically, it needs a little tweaking and extending, but the arrangement is near perfection. Well done, you!
THANKS BRO. FOR THE EARS AND KIND WORDS. YEAH, LYRICALLY SHORT. SOMETHING I WORKED ON ABOUT CLOSE TO 20YRS AGO IF YOU GOT SOME IDEAS THATS WHY ITS UP.LOL. HIT ME BACK. PEACE.
I'm just gonna say it because it has to be said. Far too often there are "funk" offerings here that really do not cut the mustard. This track, my friends, is the exception. You guys obviously know what funk is as well as how to elevate it. What captures me most about this track is that there are surprise gems throughout the listening journey--like the flute, horns and xylophone. The cool vocals are not more than they need to be, but rather, just enough. This ain't just funk, it's funk-jazz, and it's kicking ass!
THANK YOU MYKAEL FOR KIND WORDS AND EARS ON IT. SOMETIMES[LOL] YOU NEED SOME HELP TO MAKE IT REAL FUNKY. I GOT SOME HELP, MICKY AND JYNXZ, REAL DEAL . PEACE.
This track you've created is simplistically beautiful. I love the juxtaposition of the lush strings during the intro with the minimalism of the the piano at the song's conclusion. Well done, you!
It's NOT easy to blow my mind, but this track got mission accomplished. The energy is off the chain! The driving guitar and percussion are magical. It' funky, it's rock, it's an all out auditory assault. Brilliant Job to you both!
Hiyas! I'm so glad I discovered you and your music. Great production so far, and very very very catchy. The chorus is already embedded in my head..LOL. It's damn near radio worthy, in my humble opinion. Well done, you!
Ah, you have brought me back to the days of the singer/songwriter circa 70's with this one, which is (in my humble opinion) when music was, well, music. This is a very easy listen--beautiful lyrics, arrangement, and vocals. I'd buy this in a nano-second. Well, done, you!
DrKlinger! First, thank you for allowing me to discover you. I don't often get onto this site lately, but I happened to be checking my email spam folder and came an alert that you made a comment on one of my uploads here. Second, this song is absolutely BRILLIANT! Very few people really understand blending funk and rock as you do. This is, in my opinion, one of the very best tracks on Looperman. I just have three words to sum it up--Well done, you!!
Oh well - I feel massively flattered.
Thank you so much for your review. My tracks may not give the indication, but I am very very unsure about my material every time before I show it to the public. Such positive reactions like yours really help here! Especially when knowing, what kind of a gifted singer/musician you are.
Thank you and
God bless,
Michael
What a cool tune! Everything is spot on, I'd buy this track in a nanosecond! Vocals and vocals are in the pocket. I agree with Danke...I wouldn't categorize this as a grunge or postrock tune. The sound is very current..well done you!
I have really one word for ya, brother....SMOOOOOOOOOOOTH!!!! Well, I guess I have a few more words...LOL. This groove is in the pocket. The vocals are spot on. I'd pay to download this in a heart beat. Well, done you!
Thank you very much Mykael. Very gentle comment! Miguel Flores, the singer, is not of this world anymore... he was my best friend! I found the tape with the vocal track alone, so we build the music around it! I wish you all the best in this too large MUSIC WORLD! Thanks again for listening. Cheers and beats. Laurent
This quite refreshingly beautiful! I am not a huge fan of the flute, but I love it here. My only wish is that the guitar would be brought more upfront. Well, done!
I am really digging this tune so far. It reminds me of vintage Rufus a little bit. I agree with Wikkid regarding the repetitiveness. My only other suggestion (it's just me, and in the grand scheme of things what does it matter...LOL) would be to rethink the sax. Nicely done so far!!
What a thrill this song is to listen to! I love your lyric writing skills. I know you were feeling not well when you recorded this, but that actually lends a really nice texture to your vocals; somewhat raw sounding. Obviously, you can hear the nasal quality more at the bridge (2:19). Brilliant work so far!
Ludwig, I'd buy this in a nano second! It is as good as dance music gets, really. It's catchy, vibrant, fun, and it truly does make you want to at least tap your feet! Well done, you!
Hiya Evisma! I love the high energy of this track and the intensity of the guitars. At this juncture, you are probably gonna HATE me! LOL
I would let the song speak for itself and nix the soundbite. The organ/strings (0:29) sounds very 90's to my ear. I'd either drop it or replace it with real strings. I'd give the first transition a bit more punch, maybe roll the drums (1:27). The second transition I actually had to listen to several times before I got it; and when I finally got it...pretty damn awesome!
This is a beautiful track; lovely composition. I'm not crazy about the keys, though. I think this piece could really shine with a real piano, a Steinway, perhaps? Well, done, though.
Format, first of all, thank you for sharing such positive lyrics. I enjoy conscious rap, which there doesn't seem to be much of these days. Your flow is near perfection...I'm stoked to hear the final version.
For a piece in progress, this song is quite brilliant. As a vocalist (singer-songwriter) I kind of dig the structure as is. Some of the great songs don't follow the norm. With that said, if you are going to tweak the structure, TA's suggestion is pretty spot on. I can totally hear this tune being rocked out at an outdoor venue! Well done!
This is a very sweet track....easy to listen to. I hear, though, elements that do not seem acoustic. I think LoopmeDale is spot-on in his critique. Other than that, well done, you!
What you've accomplished here is quite refreshing. So many songs today are being offered up as R&B, but sadly they miss the mark. This tune of yours has an old-skool sensibility with a contemporary vibe. The hook instantly captures you. You've got what I believe to a really tight verse, I can't wait to hear the chorus and break! Well done, you!
You've turned Hip on it's head with this one! I love the slight throwback to the Clan...very very nice. Equally nice is how the chorus kept changing while keeping the melody as the track progressed. Pat yourself on the back...this is Brilliant!
