Yes I you got it hooked steppah! Gimme lickle jungle flow and wop, it'a hittin. Big Up bredda. I wanna here that mix u lay over computer malfunction dub. yes I.
Nice song, there's a whole lot going on here. It may be just me but in my phones I detected a few spots where the levels get blown out here and there. Right at the bigining, those subs sounds seem to be clashing with the deeper pad synth sound in the background. Makes it hust a bit muddy in places where those freqs are clashing.
My tip here, maybe trim just a smidge off your sub bass db level and be sure it compressor limited to at least -6 db in your over all mix. You may need to readjust some pad levels after you do that, but I think in the end you'll have a mix that is a bit more clear.
thank you bredd! like i was telling someone just a moment ago, i have really never worked around lyrics before. glad you liked it. means alot to hear that from you. theres a 320 mp3 with your name on it if you like.
Blessings most High!
A man after my own heart. I love that arpegiated key riff. That makes for a nice song in itself. Like the minimalism you kept in tact here. Ambient doesn't need a femal Enya vocal overdub or a cheesy string pad played over it all. This weird ambience that I love a lot.
Really, this is the first song I've made that I've kept simple, the rest of my songs have a lot more layers in. As for cheesy string pads, I normally love them, but I didn't think they would fit in with this one, so it looks like I did a good thing there.
Thanks for the review! I still like dance before the throne, its still a song I want to listen to a lot, but I don't want to fill your play thing with my face. I'd happily buy it.
I'm finding it really hard to do a short and sweet version of this one, so the next is basically "extended get it out of your system mix." Glad you appreciate the sonic weirdness here. I find it both very trippy and happy at the same time. Great, great fun!
You've programmed a good bass line in the mid range, but how bout throwing 1 sustained lo sub bass note under all that. Try it. Find your root key and play just a sustained sine wave style deep bass note. Eq it just right so it doesn't clash with your bass drum and see what that does for this tune!
That chording is simply gonna be a problem all across. It seems as if the same effect could be attained using a different bass sound w/o using chorded harmonics. It will almost always seem cloudy against a clean pad line.
Coney may be right in saying that your bass freq is clipping the bass out as well. Maybe clip the bass kick sound to something around 150-180 Hz. That large drum beat sounds unlike a pop and more towards a house and even dubstep line.
Thanks for the feedback. I wanna keep it fat as hell but clean when the subs are pumping, so the chords are gone, I'm gonna play with the harmonics in sytrus, and take the eq/comression advice. Lol, and I know nothing about genre's so it's kinda hard for me to define. Thanks for the correction though!
Beautiful what you did here Ark. You've taken us to another place with this tune, I like it here/hear. Taking things up a notch seems to be your best skill set these days. Very well done!
thank you Bredd! a very healing dub session this one here/hear. very happy you caught this one! most definitely one of my better pieces to date. your kind words really mean alot! Big Up midwest Massive!
Well Jah will help you if you are willing to go forth into the darkest regions of your mixing desk. Helven, you are onto a nice theme w/ this tune, the flute, piano elements are supreme. The mix needs some serious work though. ALL bass freqs are torn to hell. Even at half volume in my good headphone it's so distorted that you loose nearly all elements of mid range and hi melody. You structure for patterns is a keeper, but if you wanna make this tune go big on ANY speaker system, let's work the mix some.
Here's gonna be my general tip. Draw all your levels way at least -5db! At least! especially the sub bass and kick drum. Make absolutely sure that all the channels are eq'd to isolate the specific freq. range you desire (cut out the mud) and you HAVE to have a compressor on the sub channel. It can have a long slow release, but be sure to side chain it thru the drum kick so that they don't collide w/ each other in the mix.
After all that, if you have about -6db headroom as it goes into the master channel, add an analog sturation type boost on the final master line. This hould get you close to clear sounding hits, while maintaining a bumpin' sound that can be cranked up real hot on the system amp.
One of those tracks, to be sure. If it was a painting, it'd be classified as "Maximillism." I do think it's got an interesting vibe, and intensity reminiscent of Industrial music. [edit] As per your suggestion, I've moved this to Trance now. Thanks jah.
Holy cow man! Blow my mind would you?! This was totally unexpected and I love it love it! You've captured something in this mix that is absolutely crucial. An underbelly riddim that just pulses with heartbeat. Very well spaced reverbs, delays, phasing etc. You've just impressed Jah MAJORLY with this dub.
If you get a chance rip a 320 mp3 for me and send it priority Jah Know reggae Dj. ;)
Well, the launching point and inspiration is from the loops you gifted me, so I'm hoping my "vision" is a nice surprise. I'm thrilled you hear that heartbeat riddim - it's one of the symbolic components as it's Life. Creation and destruction=right hand and left hand of life itself. Still drafty draft #1, but even I hear potential dripping red.
I love Dub. I mean really, really love Dub. I never imagined I'd make it dance for me - lol.
Nice layment of the sounds here. Feels like a bigger tune. Curiously noisey in a good old fashioned nasty way. Liking the darkness as it fits the overall reduced feel here. good work sir.
revised. RThat song kicked me in the tenders so hard all I could spit out was a name that sounded something like out lord's name in vain. Brilliant production once again Birdy. fabulously filthy and in your face dubstep once again.
This a blessed tune indeed my friend. Peace to all! These tunes are going to turn some heads for sure. Beautiful horn parts. So big the mountain, so big the dub.
Up down up down up down. love the stenchman influence. Bass is all Chud though! Massive mekkon!
Filth is your arena. You been pimpimg labels that sign the filthy stuff yet?
Krypled Brain recordings. All filth - has signed, Davr, Richie August, Borgore et al. I have a buddy who's a label dj. I'd love to pass some of your stuff on to him. He spins out of Miami Florida. Does weekly ustream shows, and plays out tons.
Mate your quite welcome to pass my music on to anyone you think might be interested, after all its online all the time anyone can listen. Its not that I havent tried to contact labels or anything but just not really had a response. Obviously i would love something to happen, but it hasnt yet.
REal nice sound usage. Curious to know what you did to the samples and what remained as is. I would absolutely love to know you resampled and programmed those basslines. You have a serious sound happening init. No doubt you've listened to nuff dub to know what you wanted here.
hey thanks man for big upps thats the first track that i posted and i didnt know what sort of review i was going to get im all new to this i mainly used abelton with the main layout with the track used wav samples for the drums and found a random sample pack in my libary and jst choppd it all up ive nearly finishd another dubstep track il post it when im finishd.........
Very nice Konceptz. I like where you went with the bassline.
Here's what I coul dhear happening. Use that lickle dub skank sample a bit mor ein a break down, cut everything out into the dub style outro, just for about 8 bars, then drop the dubstep bassline and beat back in. Makes for a serious skank.
Also think that maybe modulating the bass sound after the 2nd drop might add some interest, maybe just opening the lpp cutoff a slight bit in the 2nd part of the tune. I'm really glad to hear this quality after yesterday's little blow up thread. nice work,
My rig is down right now, but I'm gonna do my magik on this track as soon as I'm up again.
Couple of artists you may need to investigate.

This sound has something init got you that you've overlooked in the rest of your dubstep....? It's something to do with the raaw drum kit in it's natural environment that makes this track so badass. I would seriously look into that one aspect more and see how you could spread the idea across your tunes collectively. A bit more analog dirt, reverb, saturation in the master mix for that old school recording with volume and minimal headroom.
and as far as the drums in the natural environment, it was honestly me just not knowing as much as i do now. lol. but yeah that snare is pretty dirty!! i been recently thinkin about that.
goin for different drum kit styles over different tracks. give some the dirt, give some the shine!
well let me know when you are up and going and ill send you the loops!
I kinda love this track. Sp much that it geserves some further investigation. I see obvious influences that maybe could be tapped even more.
Massive Attack produced by Mad Professor - it's the mad professor part that I'd look into. This dub pushes towards electro trance in the Massive Attack, Bjork, Portishead way. All of which are great artists to research while refining your sound.
Arrangement is spot, I might want to re arrange some instrumentation for a truer dub sound as the elctronica aspect starts to overpower the atmosphere. Especially the 180 bpm hard style drum beat at the end... now it's not dub it's rave, diva rock. The feel changed so much from the beginning to end I am now confused as to why you chose dub.
Thanks jahknow for your very detailed review as a guide.I know , what you said about genre, you are right.Chosing a genre for some tracks can difficult preffering sometimes.I usually working with my feelngs and they can changing at the making process.Your opinion about re arrange it is charming for me.Pls write me your email adress.I will send all off parts in it.
thanks again , peace
1st review Victor and I gotta say for your 1st trance track you have a nice thing going. I recently remixed a trance song (outta my genre for sure) and trued to put my spin on a trance track structure. It was fun. I like the way you kept the drums in front, expecially the kick. If you're at all curious check out my remix of Azoic's - Corruption tune. Started with raw midi date to create a dubstep style version of a trance track. I can hear similar influences happening here. You could play that cut time hi hat riddim way up in this and start playing with the groove across the snare and bass drum, me thinks.
legit. thanx for the tip! i will check out the limiter although ill probably have to check out a couple tutorials on using the limiter cause ive never really looked at it lol. i know its important and i really have no excuse besides being lazy. appreciate the feedback!
