I personally like the dynamics in this track quite a bit; no need to squash for a louder end result if your listening chain is solid.
You know I like your music CSAF; keep it up. Want to hear more output!! Really reminds me of some Aphex Twin SAW era stuff. White label vinyl type track. Can't wait to hear more.
oh my goodness this is great. I love the percussion, of course...but I'm especially transfixed by the interwoven melody / pad combination. very good job. downloading.
Pleasantly surprised by this one. Has a 90s trip hop / rock feel to it. I like the nuanced lead synths which combine with the whistling. Vocals are quirky to me, in a good way. Nice work.
thanks for your feedback, it's cool!
for the vocals, of course it seems to be quirky, owing to filters used on. It adds some originality to the atmosphere :)
thanks for taking time to listen and to share your feel :)
Nice production. I personally would have lessed the sidechaining on the lead riff, but that's just me :) Everything feels tight and the vocals blend very well.
I would personally call this electro/trance rather than house music, because I feel like it would fit into a commercial DJ set with those genres quite well...although it does have a bit of a Tropical House feel to it for sure.
Hello! Great with som feedback. I understand what you mean. I actually did a more specific sidechain at first to get the kick more "loud". But I decided not to do it because it didn't fit the sound. (My opinion). I cant agree with you with the genre tho. This might not be classic house music but its definitely not trance?
Definitely going to check out your album. Very interesting, almost meditative. I like the breakbeat styled drums. I personally would have added some more vocal effects like heavy delay on transitions, but they also work as dry as they are.
Reminds me a bit of aphex twin's "syro" production, yet unique in its own SpivKurl way! Congrats on finishing the album.
Thank you thephilosofist.
That means a lot.
My sound has never wavered.
And I'm glad you dig it!
Thank you very much and stay tuned.
The count down is on for my NEW mixtape
To drop.

Neat how you found so many loops in the same key and made them work. I agree with silverman; there's something about this mix that could stand out more. Perhaps LIGHTLY sidechain the instruments to the drums? Then the transients would snap just a bit more.
Man, you are awesome! Looked after it, and found an "error" : one of the main drum loops were not 120 but some 119.958 bpm. As i used as loop, it means some really minimal slide - you (at least, me) cannot really hear the difference, but maybe there is some different feeling. Wonder if it's do the trick.
Thousand thanks for the feedback!
This is nice! Really dig the snappy drums. Cool reverse effects on the samples, well placed. I could hear someone like Roc Marciano over this. Keep it up.
First the technical side. Pretty well produced, vocals could have had a touch less reverb IMO, but that's just me. The beat is fire, really well done.
Flow works with the emotions you're evoking. I'm sorry about your brother...I know how it feels to lose people in a flash like this. Hard times make for hard hearts. You really make it clear it in your vocals too, good performance on the mic.
Enjoyable track. Cheers. May the violence cease one day...
Beginning already has my ectomorphic field scratched by "dat texture." Nice tappy kicks. Dig the modular sound you got going on, I'm pretty sure I can pick out the textures based on your description.
It's been a while since I tuned into your tracks. Glad you got a solid groove going; song structure is intact, and your harmonies move between "standard" and "weird" and I approve wholeheartedly.
Glad to see you're still kicking around these parts.
Cheers,
Matt
Hello Matt, it has indeed been a while! It's cool to see you stopping in! I seem to remember noticing that you were throwing yourself deeply into hardware stuff recently, can't say where.
I like your term "ectomorphic field." Makes me think of something which might come up during ghost hunting with electronic devices. I have intentions to build just this sort of device, after I finish this, and that, oh and this other thing... Picked up a bunch of vintage integrated circuits which should prove most useful. Probably some ghosts in there already, ha ha.
My songs usually end up being whatever I feel like doing at the time, so "weird" is an appropriate word. Having been raised on classic rock and pop music, "standard" most likely also fits!
Thanks for stopping in to take a listen and leave your words!
Very nice track Dave. I like the ambience quite a bit, definitely something I can imagine listening to while sitting with a nice glass of something-or-other on a gorgeous day.
Nice use of delay, not too gratuitous but enough to embody that seaside-surf feel for sure. And as always, nice playing!
Cheers, Dave. Glad to see you're still around these parts.
- Matt
Hey Matt thanks man!...yeah that delay can be a two edged sword, I remember when Miles Davis (my hero) used it to excess in the 70's so I always keep that in mind, glad you enjoyed the tune buddy and good to see you back here mate! cheers Dave :)
Thank you! This is in my opinion, my most professional sounding track up to this point. Might even herald a new age in my creative process! I am really happy about that. This probably isn't your kind of sound, so I appreciate you listening to it. I also think I am kind of finding my sound, which I haven't been able to do up to this point. I appreciate your feedback and the compliments!
I have made this track some time ago. It's funny, here in the description I still wanted to buy the Volca FM hahaha. I still really like the 80's plucky sounds though. I must say that this site has taught me a lot. If I personally compare this song to my newest song 'Neon Tokyo', the quality has gone up considerably. This has been from all the feedback I have gotten over these past 3 months.
I have used gating heavily throughout the track. This track was basically the first time I was really experimenting with it. I have used 'Gross Beat' to get those gated synths towards the end. I am glad you like the space-beach vibes! And windsurfing on neptune is a really cool way to describe it! Thanks for taking the time to listen to it!
Good to see someone who has been here longer than me!
There is a lot to clean up, the mix isn't perfect and neither is the playing. If I spent a week or so arranging it and composing some better parts it could come together.
This sound nice.
Might be a bit brickwalled in the final mix but it does sound good all in all. Really fits in with the current trends in music. The melodies are uplifting and the LFO you put on the riff synth works well.
Feels like some slowed down deep house, or chillwave. I can appreciate that :) Keep it up. You have an ear for music.
"Might be a bit brickwalled in the final mix"
i guess we'll see but it should be fine, i never really have brickwalled mixes.
"Really fits in with the current trends in music"
haha yeah the been listening to alot of future bass of late and that automated EQ filtering is quite a big staple so i think it definitely influenced this track
per ususal, you are an inspiration to the rest of the loop. I love the way you mix your bass guitar in with your work, with the stereo panning and whatnot. really makes it sound nice and large, and fitting.
makes me want to stick around this spot :) glad to see you're still active. it really does make my heart warm up a bit. cheers, dave :) maybe I'll send you a project for you to rip bass or guitar over soon!
Hey Matt, good to see you man!..thanks for the kind words buddy, yeah I'm still slugging away at the music something I don't think I'll ever get sick of,yeah mate anytime you want a little bass or such drop me a line,no problemo...cheers Dave :)
really dig this. the pulsating synth at the beginning definitely brings a good body. love the lead synths and melodies, all very harmonic and bring the listener in...uplifting stuff, electric-sounding too. almost sounds like pink floyd meets electronic music...I'd suggest glitching the drums up a bit to make it fit more in the electronic side. but they're so clean and atmospheric now, it works well too.
cheers for listening and taking the time to review. i will definitely consider glitching the drums in my future tracks to draw the listener in even more. thanks for the tip. i'll be listening out for future creations of yours, cuz i think your judgement and ear for music is cool man. right up my alley
super super super sick. wowwwww. talk about detail. great flow. great vibe. not sure what to make of the whole piece but it definitely leaves an impression. congratulations on making a fine piece of music.
brilliant. I love the description, made for great imagery. everything is so humanized and lifelike in this, I really enjoyed it all. keep doing what you do.
this is crazy hahaha. nice mixing job, frequencies are all very well EQd. some of the low ends could be boosted a bit, your wobbles are all pretty middle range compared to a lot of the dubstep that I prefer...maybe that's just my speakers though. very robotic feel to it. definitely a good mix though you should be proud. respect keep doing what you do, I would just humanize it a little bit more...like time the attack on the synths and the timing of the drum hits just a bit off beat but close enough so that the difference is subsonic, difficult to hear unless you're looking for it. if you do that with every hat or kick though it will make a huge difference in the end result. mess with the velocity control a bit too (though I think you've done that here already).
just my 2 cents take it or leave it, I don't really make dubstep per se. I do make bassy music though so I can relate! Peace
that bass is pretty funky. decent work, the intro is really..interesting, haha. I wasn't sure what to make of it but I started diggin it once that bass dropped. really interesting style man, keep doing you. thanks for using my acapella.
