I quite like it though, again, you've said nothing about how it was made, who's doing the vocals (it could be you for all I know) whether it's all loops etc
I definitely don't like the autotune on the vocals and would remove all of that (it's used as an effect here, not as a correctional tool). But I'll give a better review once you've given me some idea of what I'm listening to.
1:03 I like the busy change and rapid guitar and maybe also arpeggiated synth.
Thanks SM for some very constructive comments again. Firstly the track was put together with loops and samples from dance 6 with some additions by myself. I know you are not a fan of this, but believe me a lot of work and effort goes into arranging and producing my tracks , although on this occasion I decided to upload earlier than I would normally because I wanted some feedback on which direction to take it, as I had become to close to it. I take on board everything you have said and will endeavour to improve the final take.
A big thank you and best wishes,
Mark/Larry!
I agree with everything everyone else has said and can't think why this is in 'pop'. I nearly didn't click on it just for that reason.
Very emotive stuff and I like the sparse and subtle percussion in the opening section.
1:20 gets freaky and powerful and dark and epic. Great film score stuff here.
1:51 cool the way the voice moves just around that section. Lead us nicely into the next one. Though maybe I find that guitar a bit plodding and lacking in groove. Could maybe do with being slightly differently quantised.
This is so unlike pop music. It's weird but powerful and deep. No catchy hit song here!
thank you for your helpful comment.i totally agree you right it s not pop. maybe we can say it s cinematic ... without paying attention to the genre i tried to change my filling to the music
thank you for taking the time to comment.
Good recommendation from Danke regarding DVS Sax free VST software.
"Where, might I ask, can I acquire this DVS Sax free VST software? "
You Google it, as I did, and find the download. Yes, I hear some freeware can have bugs (but not viruses, as such) and cause problems for your DAW. But sometimes you've just gotta live life on the edge, like a daring all-action hero, and install that freeware VST. You only live once and all that.
Anyway, your latest meagre offering to the Looper gods:
Sax sounds pretty decent, actually. And what it's playing is good.
Bass is good the way it joins in gradually. The drums kick in well though the mix is a bit unclear and things are fighting. It's a big sound, especially for only three instruments.
If you don't know them already, please check out one of my absolute favourite bands ever - Morphine. Just baritone sax, 2-string slide bass guitar, drums and vocals and some of the most interesting and unique-sounding music ever made. Danke's a big fan of theirs. I'd love to do the slide bass thing, slide obsessive that I am.
Moving into metal as a change is good before the sax returns.
You know I love mad, long music (and making it even more so) but this is OK at this length as it's so busy. Maybe another minute and it would be long enough. How a piece feels is, of course, not just about the length in minutes and seconds.
Is the title a reference to different food blenders or implements that will masticate your food so you don't have to bother chewing?
I found the sax vst. It was a "dll" file, and my computer won't deal with them. It said to find a program online to read the file, but every place I went to get the reader(several), when I went to download the reader program, my K9 Blue-Coat Web Security threw red flags saying it was malicious spyware and malware. In short, I'll use the sax I presently possess.
I will check out Morphine after your description. Sounds interesting.
The title.
I have had extensive dental work done and racked up $6,800 over a two month span. It was a fun two months. Periodontal disease makes the gums recede and exposes areas without enamel. Interesting, isn't it. Anyway, I only have 19 real teeth. The front is all still there, but I have a total of 3 molars. I have partials that replace the fallen heroes. I had a crown explode into pieces on me the other day and it had to be pulled, so I'm a bit loopy, and this track was heavily influenced by those events,... and Hydrocodone.
Well I must say that I'm very surprised that in 4 comments no one has mentioned Pink Floyd.
This is very, very reminiscent of their legendary Shine On You Crazy Diamond. It's that classic organ as well as the guitar.
Separately, I think Shine On You Crazy Diamond may be just about the most popular ever song in which it takes nearly 9 minutes (!!!) for the vocals to come in. Check it here:
Your track again: good beat that moves it away from PFloyd and I like the reverse vocals too.
They're all good elements though I think I would preferred a bit less start-stop with the beat. It's also way too short so you should lengthen this and then it will be more enjoyable. It's far out music (my favourite genre) so needs to be longer as this isn't long enough to really get into it and chill.
As for " I have [no] idea how to transition a song from a pad loop over to a different sound without losing the integrity of the song" I have loads of suggestions but will save them for another time.
I am very curious to hear your suggestions on transitions, as this is the reason for my track being so short. I will certainly work on the start-stop factor.
Gentle ringing chords and cymbal work to set the scene.
Then introduce some bass guitar. Maybe those guitar chords get a little boring but it all sits fine.
Good solid drums but I'm having trouble hearing the kick. A more solid/louder one would be good.
Lead guitar is pleasant and this is all smooth stuff. I guess this has a bit of a jazz prog rock vibe to it. I'm up to 4 mins now and those guitar chords are still there so I they've probably been there too long.
Either remove them by this point or maybe add some other FX to them or try playing them on a different guitar.
5:42 we drop down into some gentle, groovy stuff. Bass guitar has a good tone there.
Percussions makes me think of water. Would soundtrack a river scene in the heart of the jungle very well.
Tell me how you're doing your drums and percussion. Percussion loops, perhaps?
On second listen, I'm now thinking I don't like this as much as the first time. I'm noticing its meandering, wandering nature a lot more and it's maybe all a little too laid back to maintain real interest and excitement for me. But could be some very effective sountrack work.
Yes, quite a lot of variety here but it all works well together.
This most reminds me of some film music for an energetic, modern scene. Could be anything active and busy but probably something involving travelling across the city/country in cars.
I guess the arpeggiated synth parts are Looperman loops. And you've added the guitar and drums? I like the ethereal, chanting vocals. Quite beautiful, actually.
Drums are good and powerful.
Very energetic stuff here that is really quite enjoyable.
Thanks for the answer. So, it's completely composed of loops. That's obviously less impressive than if you'd played and programmed and sonically sculpted it all.
Nevertheless, its an enjoyable piece. Do you only do loop assembly tracks? Any other instrument playing or synth programming?
Initally I started with loop arrangements and remixes, though I take a lot of time and effort with all my tracks produced this way, but I am now programming and producing my own sounds but at this early stage I still have a lot of work to do. Always happy to receive and accept advice and assistance. A big thanks for your time and interest.
Take care,
Mark/Larry
Lotta love for this one so I'll just add a bit more.
Though, first of all, let's kick off with a complaint:
I have no idea how you made this at all. There's no mention in your description and no mention of anything regarding production in 20 or so replies. I try to give lots of detail in replies (even when it's not asked for, which it generally isn't) in case anyone who comes along later is interested.
You can probably tell I'm wondering how this was put together, what you're playing (if anything) and so on.
But this is cool stuff and all sits very nicely and is pretty busy for 3.5 mins.
1:37 it really takes off and I like the drops before that. Classic groove there. Reminds me a little of Way Out West - wonderful electronic group (check out a track called The Gift). Or perhaps some Banco De Gaia stuff. He likes those sorts of beats.
Though I go in for mega long tracks, I actually like this length - feels right. Busy but always interesting.
Great collection of instruments. I guess that guitar is programmed rather than played. Big pads are fairly lush too.
One suggestion is that around, say, 1 min, you bring a good hat in as I think I'm waiting a bit for the beat to really pick up. It's great when it does but I would have preferred to have got to it just a little sooner.
A really big thank you for your very constructive comments. To clarify, the track was made entirely from loops on Ejay Dance 6,with some slight massaging from me! thanks for picking up on the hat, absolutely right and I should have gone with my instinct, but I have been accused in the past of putting toO much into a track too quickly!. I am pleased you like and enjoyed it and again thank you for your helpful comments.
Best wishes,
Mark/Larry!
Hey, you've got some sort of creature jumping into the track eg at 0:18.
More of your usual good work and some cool bass, especially the fill at the end of the bar at 1:00.
1:19 lead, slow rising synth is cool.
Have you got a bit of Sugar Bytes Guitarist in here?
Sax sounds pretty decent. How did you do that? Is it sample-based?
4:19 extra bit of delay on that synth is very effective there.
Not so keen on the fadeout ending but it's OK.
This is pretty decent, spacious you can dance to. It's not my favourite track of yours (think that was the last one you uploaded that was more banging and powerful)but I still like it. Not every track can be my favourite but yours are almost always good or better.
Hello...well the guitar is actully Rob Papens Rythmn Guitar, I need to study SB's Guitarist more so I can program my own chords and strumming better. The sax is a VST keyboard called Purity and I find they work well in the mid range but are pretty obvious once you go up the scale! I get your favourite track comment, I have made songs that I really like and few listens later I've moved on! I think I pump out the songs to practice mixing, styles, blends etc and also reflect the mood at the time! Much appreciative of your comments as always.
Regards
Steve
Hi again. I think you may not have understood what I was saying.
My comment about 'crazy dancing' was meant as a compliment -
me saying something good about the track.
It just means that I can see people doing a lot of dancing, having fun to this track. It doesn't mean that it's people with mental health issues dancing to it.
So, I'm saying the track is good fun and makes you want to dance (other people here have said exactly the same thing). I'm sure you agree with that.
Hi. My first thought after "This is really good" was "Is this guy really only 14?".
If so, I suspect you've either already been doing this for a few years and/or are a musician who's been playing for a while. I don't know what I would have been like if I'd had synthesizers and audio software aged 14 but I imagine not as good as this.
There's a lot of musicality and variety in this track. You remind me a little of myself in the way that you keep doing new things and introducing new elements. My tracks have more variety because of the different acoustic instruments, sounds and drumkits that are constantly being introduced. But you've managed to create a lot of variety with only a few synths.
Well done and I shall give a more specific, detailed review (plus some suggestions) another time - probably tomorrow.
Thanks for the info. Yes, I should have guessed there was some tremolo arm action going on there. Seems obvious now I think about it when remembering that scream. You can get something kind of related using pitch bend on a foot pedal -something I have done at various times over the years.
I do it quite a bit in a track on Looperman called Trial By Ordeal. Another, much heavier track of mine worth checking is one called Debt Black Hole. Possibly the heaviest track I've heard containing so much slide guitar. Those two tracks were originally one 15 min track but I split them in two and they now sound much better and more distinctive.
I also do a lot of bass playing on guitar and really like it. I do it much more than bass guitar playing (it's in loads of my tracks on here) though I do that too (bass was the instrument I started on). I'm really not sure how common it is for people to use guitar detuned down an octave for bass but I'd like to know. I use an ElectroHarmonix POG2 octave pedal that allows you to blend five signals together. So you can go 2 octaves above or below and create some interesting, ethereal sounds, especially when using the attack and cutoff controls as well as adding some delay.
I agree your track could use some extra power in the bass, though you could just beef up the bass synth. I like to do that and can definitely get way bigger bass sounds from synths than bass guitar.
Good luck with this as it's definitely worth improving.
Hello. Some pretty big riffage here. It is all a bit noisy, though - mostly on the guitar.
As regards Crucethus wanting to hear a bassline - there already is one. Maybe he just means a bigger one that more closely follows the guitar But I think the bass that's there is OK and does a decent supporting role.
This is short but there are lots of changes so it feels like a good length.
I like the first drum fill and then the shuffle drum groove. That's pretty funky stuff. Massive guitar scream at 0:18 is cool. I'd like to get some of that into my own music though I'm not quite sure how to do it. Maybe you can tell me.
I quite like the end drums, especially the syncopated, awkward stuff. The cutoff ending I guess means this is not finished yet so I look forward to hearing an improved version.
Maybe it's not such a mixing problem here but instead the guitar sound and the noise on it. Tell me what your setup is for this and I might have some suggestions. Are you using a real amp/preamp or is it software ones?
Thanks, For the bass I tried to use a synth, to not much avail when I'm back on this track i'll be using my guitar for bass.. It does need extra power.. I can't quite remember but I think I pulled the A string tapping the 3rd fret n yanking on the floyd, as for the part after that it's an open D slightly tapped on the 3rd aswell.. i think anyway.. I use a slightly old digi-design USB pedal to record and all of the sounds come from it, bare a little mixing.. I'm mastering it's use these days, You'll hear that on my next track, Thanks again listening
Hello again. Yes, I guess it is something both spiritual and sophisticated.
You've got some interest from people such as Maffin and Crucethus and they both make interesting music so you'll probably soon hear something good done with this. Maybe next time say what sort of style of music you might like to hear these vocals in. Or just let people do whatever they feel works.
yep :)
Steve is very good choice but i have heared just one cinematic
track from him .
guess you are agree with me that this needs a cinematic music.
i hoped to get some offer from some of other musicians too but
seems they haven't liked this enough to want to work on it .
but in the end , i've been lucky for shortbuss music offer after your comment .
thank you very much for feedback.
(ps : are you norwagian ? can i know how old are you ? )
Cheers for the comment, yeah i don't know what i was thinking with this one. it's a you love it at the time but when you come back to it your like oooooh this is... not as good as i thought kind of track definately gonna revisit this at some point.
Yo, this be some damn smooth shit. That's my deep analysis right there.
Obviously some lovely jazz guitar right from the start, especially in the intro, actually. And then throughout. Makes me think I should play a bit more like that - my styes are more psychedelic/Eastern blues, rock, funk, grunge but maybe I should try going for a clean setting and a slow jam and work my way around some jazz chords.
Perfect collection of drum hits and cool, lazy groove. It's a fun little bass sound too.
Every second I listen to this, I hear a variety of classic vocals on it. I'm sure you'll get some offers from people who would like to have a go.
Some lyrics might even include lines like "Yeah, girl, I'm lovin' you"
Probably my only real complaint is that same hi hat pattern for 3.5 mins. Yes, there are some other little percussive additions but I just find that hat gets a bit monotonous.
Some good, low guitar runs right at the end.
There's more to say about this fine work but that will do for now.
Thankyou STATIC , for such a complete and positive comment. I agree with you about the lyrics,it would add a bit more depth to the mix.My roots are in Jazz witch is my first love.In my younger days I played a lot of fusion, jazzrock, soul, RnB,Pop,Jazz.I would love to hear your clean playing tecnigue. I will stop by soon. PEACE. THE MACK MAN OUT.
Hi, I'm not able to listen to the track again right now but will do so tomorrow - partly just to hear that new ending.
Sometimes, when I point out a problem in a track, I wonder if the producer is perhaps already aware of it but has just not yet got round to fixing it.
I sometimes make changes to tracks I post though I do work hard to make them as good as I can before putting them online.
I've heard a lot of not very good fade out endings to tracks on this site and sometimes wonder if the producer is still working on a better ending but just did not say so in the track description.
Well done again with this catchy track.
Hi StaticNomad,
totaly agree, but there is an internal fight inside of me between 'put the track online and go to the next one' and 'Spend some more time to bring it up to 100$'.
In most cases I follow the Upload-Voice. Main reason for this : Me and mastering are not the best friends. I still think a good mix it's rocket sience ( and I am sure it is ).
I got a good equipment (hopefuly) but I need to learn some more details. As more I fiddle as more I am not confident with them. It's still a 'random process' for me :(
greetings
Megapaul
Everyone's already made the main points. Here are some more:
I like the drums as they come in.
Good ride and a bit of a dubstep snare.
Then you've got two kits going (I think) - one panned left, one right. Definitely a powerful, layered drum sound. Not sure if they might be better not so far apart in the stereo spectrum (very minor point).
They're good, catchy vocals.
I like the twiddly guitar in that first break and the movement of the bass underneath. Some of what's going on there reminds me a bit of some of my stuff.
Second breakdown brings synths more to the fore rather than guitar so that's good variation and makes each breakdown distinctive. Then that second one builds up nicely with the drums.
It doesn't really remind me of Duran Duran.
Finally, my only real complaint is the ending. Longer fadeout, please...
Thanks for directing me here from Soundcloud. Great to hear the full length version of this excellent track. Just my sort of thing.
I love far out blues and play a lot of it myself.
The bass and drums are the perfect rhythm section for a good track. The guitar, harmonica and other strange synth are a cool, slightly weird top layer.
Maybe bass and drums could change a bit more. I'd like some drum fills.
Not having drum fills and a change in drums (maybe move to ride or crash cymbal) lets this track down a bit as it makes it too much of the same thing for the whole length.
It's great blues for meditation but I prefer more variety and changes.
Thanks again. I do like that you like it and see what you mean. Sure, even at sun there are the spots. Let's just keep in mind the 'spooky' matter of this and not forget that the "best is an enemy of good" ). Otherwise it would be an other song.
dwarft voice are not separated line .
that is something like groovy loops of looperguys
here used in this one .
there's not a separated line for that .
but in my eyes it is very cool i don't feel
eastern flaviur in it !
dancing crazy ?
excuse me i don't feel like that about this track !
thank you very much for listening.
Hi. I like this though I'm not so keen on the flute sound.
Intro before the flute sounds great - nice groove there and everything is mixed well. The flute is also very loud in the mix.
Good acoustic drum sound and shakers good too.
I would prefer it if you chose a different lead instrument as I like everything else but it really stands out as a sound I don't like. But that's only my opinion!
First and foremost thank you for taking the time to share with a fellow lopper. I appreciate the feedback and agree that my weak point would be production. I will take Saint7's advice and maybe he can help me re-master my tracks. I will defiantly re-post when it's done. Keep the music revolution alive.
Hi. Pretty interesting track you have here. It sounds very much like a proper song (ballad maybe) but, obviously, missing the vocals.
Is it supposed to have them on? Does it now?
I like the drums most of all. They could probably do with more variation, though there are some decent fills.
Shaker at end of bar is good but maybe plays too often. Maybe vary that shaker pattern as it sounds copied and pasted and unchanging.
Lead guitar I like but it has a bit of clipping on it quite often so is going a bit loud and distorted.
Good slowdown ending.
I guess you're aware there's an extra low volume beat right at the end, as the guitar fades out? Is that maybe the drum beat recorded onto the guitar part as it spills out from your headphones?

We have some things in common, I think. Like very long tracks!
I will give this a much more detailed review tomorrow. But it will be a good one, don't worry about that.
Great, lazy and also kind of funky, chilled melodic faroutness that appeals to my sense of melody and space and preferred tempo.
I don't see many people on here (apart from myself, obviously) with lengthy, deep far out stuff like this.
More tomorrow...

Good stuff.

You've got some interest from people such as Maffin and Crucethus and they both make interesting music so you'll probably soon hear something good done with this. Maybe next time say what sort of style of music you might like to hear these vocals in. Or just let people do whatever they feel works.

Love the intro. That's really melodic, atmospheric, beautiful and trippy. Lots of character too.
1:09 beat is decent.
Then 1:22 we got all vowelly aggressive and weird. Kind of like dubstep. Very trippy and headache-inducing. Bit like drilling into your brain.
This is sort of weird chillout but I wouldn't chill to it due to the lead dubstepping brain surgery stuff.
2:58 leads get a bit more aggressive. But the backing is still pretty damn chilled. So, odd contrast there.
I guess this would be popular on some sort of acid-dubstep weird chillout album.
It's not my kind of thing (due to the leads) but I totally appreciate it.

Well done again with this catchy track.
totaly agree, but there is an internal fight inside of me between 'put the track online and go to the next one' and 'Spend some more time to bring it up to 100$'.

Good work!
thx for leaving some words..
The short fadeout was bad, I have changed that.
greetings and respect !

But it's still a favourite for me.
Well done.
Best.

Who is doing the vocals here?
It's a bit like a Middle Eastern melody.
Great dance bass and drums - even sounds good on terrible laptop speakers.
Definitely makes me think of people dancing in a crazy way in a club. Probably lots of flashing lights and weird things going on.
that is something like groovy loops of looperguys
here used in this one .
there's not a separated line for that .
but in my eyes it is very cool i don't feel
eastern flaviur in it !
dancing crazy ?
excuse me i don't feel like that about this track !
thank you very much for listening.

Intro before the flute sounds great - nice groove there and everything is mixed well. The flute is also very loud in the mix.
Good acoustic drum sound and shakers good too.
I would prefer it if you chose a different lead instrument as I like everything else but it really stands out as a sound I don't like. But that's only my opinion!
on New World Featuring Romy Harmony by LeeVoorhees
Definitely think this could do with a mastering boost, though not horrible, over-loud brickwall limiting.
Otherwise, this is a good track. Both rap and singing are good, with some character in the voices. Some good rap lyrics too.
Not sure all her harmony vocals are in tune, though I might be wrong.
Clearly a big chill vibe with some dreamy little sounds. I can't hear much bass though - sometimes I think it drops out completely.

There's some good fun here and a bit of darkness and menace.
I like the ethereal vocal-like synth fading in in the first minute. Nice, haunting loop there.
Reverse drums in that first minute are also effective.
This is a decent length with useful breaks and buildups back to the main pumping beat.
3:47 I'm reminded a little of The Prodigy. And that theremin-like haunting lead is cool and trippy.
Sort of psychedelic, acid breakbeat I'd call this track.
I'm surprised I'm the first person to bother commenting, in 24 plays. But this site's like that, so no surprise there.
Good work.

Good work and I'd like to hear the full song.
