First let me say, I don't know squat about rap, so as far as the vox goes, I think you did yourself proud. As to the music, well, great piano work (and I'm a hack on the keys, so I'm somewhat qualified to give an opinion). The use of minor progressions is always a great idea when you want to impact your listener. So, musically I give this one a 10.

My uneducated opinion - this is great work. You can probably tweak the production a bit, but overall, this is really nice work. You definitely should be proud of it.

Well done.

haha thanks Bear! Its actually not too great IMO but I did try. And you can expect to try again L=
I love the piano I managed to compose. It just seemed to flow out...it always goes that way.
I honestly didnt plan on this being a Minor sounding track. I guess it just came out that way haha. Most of my stuff does. I guess its just my draw?
A 10, wow. Thats actually a huge compliment man. Thats hard to believe, but all in all that transcribes to a "really good job bro" to me, which is just awesome. Thank you for that.
I seriously appreciate you coming by and giving my little piece a listen. Im going over to discover what ShortBusMusic is all about right now L=

on Dancing with the Carnival Rebellion feat Nuada by n0mad23
I could not hit the favorite button fast enough on this one. Great vox by Nuada...really compliments the rest of the track. This one has a traditional feel, but I think it needs to. I have Celtic roots as well, and this one feels almost tribal to me, and stirs something deep in my soul...

The best thing one can ask of music is for it to inspire emotion, and this one does that as good as any song I've heard in a long, long while.

My hat is off to all involved, but especially you, Sean. This one is a masterpiece. When you are satisfied with the final product, I would love a copy :)

The pipes are one of the most emotionally charged instruments I've ever encountered. I'm sure my family is really glad I've never picked them up, as they're even nastier to learn than the fiddle! At least for those surrounding the learner. It's getting closer all the time to completion, and you're on the top of the list for a copy. Thanks much Bear!

on What We Got Re-make by Alen9R
OUTSTANDING!!! This is fantastic Alen. The bass is superb, it has the paintings on the wall shaking back and forth, haha. The windows are bumping too, hahaha. What a great way to wake the neighbors :)

The production is just as good as the musicianship, great balance and feel. The guitar you added is the icing on this musical cake. This is definitely a 10 out of 10 for me. Now stand back and wait for the rappers to come knocking at your door for a chance to flow on this one.

Well done, Alen. Really well done.

Now you have gone and done it....if there was a way to rank my favorites, this one would be in the top 3. I have always loved jazz, actually played trombone for years in a jazz group. This brings back so many great memories.

Man, you are a genius. And I think you need to dabble a bit more in this genre. There's not enough jazz on the loop. WONDERFUL!!!

One of the best tunes I've heard in a long, long time.

Now this is really special. As Dan said, this one is an enjoyable ride. You really did a masterful job incorporating all of the different elements from different musicians, and that is the sign of a true pro. It's not easy to take all of these "parts" and put them together successfully, but you have managed to do that. I have to agree that this is probably some of your best work yet.

Bravo young maestro, bravo.

Really, really nice work again. Love the clean tones you get. Metal is supposed to be distorted, but great metal is distorted but still clean. 10 out of 10 for technique. Well done.

Great tone on the guitar....outstanding rhythm work. If you know the bpm of this, you might post it in the track description (that would help some of the people who might want to put drums or bass on this). Anyway, it is a great start to a great metal track.

By the way, I saw you are an Air Force vet, and I just wanted to thank you for your service to this country. Much appreciated and much respect.

To serve in the name of freedom and the greater good of mankind was reward enough for me. Thank you for your support. Unfortunately, the bpm for both tracks switches throughout the track. Whoever comes up with drums will just have to do it by ear.

Well, Derek, you are two for two tonight. This one is radio ready and you are ready for the big time. I cannot believe you aren't famous by now. Just remember, when you are ready for the road, I've got the bus, haha.

Man, this song is flawless. Tough to find the right adjectives to describe your work, so maybe I should just shut up and applaud.

Bravo.

Mr. Vickers, what in the hell are you doing on Looperman....

You should be doing this for a living. Absolutely stellar work here. It amazes me that you were able to use these loops. I'm speechless and that doesn't happen very often.

You sir, have mad skills. If you ever need any other instrumentation, just give me a holler. It would be an honor and a privilege to put something together for you.

This one went straight to favorites. Outstanding, simply outstanding from top to bottom.

Hey Pat,

Man, I love the bass on this one. Really, really nice :) I happen to know an actor who played a Hirogen Hunter on Star Trek.

He's a pretty good guitar player but one ugly dude, haha.

Nice, happy song. I really enjoyed this one. Keep up the great work.

Hey man, sorry it took so long to get over here and check out your track. Wow, the piano work is really, really good. Sounds like I just sat down in a great jazz club in Austin. This tune is nicely chilled my friend. Great production as well. I'd have to say it is worthy of a 10/10.

Nicely done!!

Figured since I was here, I might as well listen to all of your tracks.....

both of them, haha.

Glad I did. This is epic. My computer starts to puke when I have more than 24 or 25 tracks cooking at one time. If I gave it 100 it would commit electronic suicide....

On that note, all I can say about this one is WOW...WOW...WOW!!!!

You are the man.

Thank you! Means a lot... Man.. Bear... I am totally struggling... SO dissastisfied with my skills... with LIVE music.. with the effing scenes.. THE dead-end lifestyle of musicianship or entertainment....

Even despite these claims of "art".. I can't find my heart in it at times, and it breaks it into a thousand pieces... I suffocate under that weight of loss.

Now, see, this is really good. Great instrumentation, great composition, great mix, and one hell of a vocal track. If I'm handing out prizes today, you win first place with this track.

It sounds like you were in the studio together and that's all you can ask when you work with an acapella. By the way, really nice guitar work. You have skills sir.

Well done. Had to add this one to favorites :)

Bear.. what an honor, really. I'm a bit of a fan of SBM. I'm hoping to get up to a level where I can upload more loops and samples for our fellow loopers, I want to earn my keep around here. I see your loops in about 1/5 of all songs on here.
there sure are some heavy hitters stopping by lately.. I guess I'm on the right track.

You know, sometimes trying to find the right adjectives to describe something this good is nothing more than an exercise in futility. In those rare cases where I am speechless, I let my slack jawed, drool covered chin do the talking.

I seriously don't think you are mortal.

I swear that was a goose in there.

At this point, I can only stand and applaud....

on Gravy Train by Planetjazzbass
So, Dave, I do quite a bit of work with a bass player from San Francisco. He asked me who my favorite bass player was and I told him Planetjazzbass. He says "who the hell is he?" So, I sent him off to Looperland to check out your tracks. He came back a fan.

I say all of this because this track is a great example of why your bass work is up there at the top of my list. Man, there is magic in those hands...you do know how to caress Wilma ;)

This whole track is just a wonderful auditory stew my friend, and I enjoyed every last bite. I love gravy, but I love the "Gravy Train" even more.

So, I put on the really expensive head phones for this one, and I'm glad I did.

Really nice balance on this, you've got everything sitting really well in the mix. Nice panning, great percussion, just an outstanding effort. The only criticism is the vocal snippet at the 1:43 mark is close to clipping....and there is a slight click from a loop splice at the 3:37 mark...but that's nitpicking the hell out of things, haha. I would have never heard either of those on the $300 headphones ;)

Seriously though, I have to agree with MCHN, the 4 minutes went by too quickly. Well done.

Hi Bear,

thanks for the review...I was quite bummed at the final mix of it when I heard both instances you mentioned...listened to it thru' my headphones - I hear the click.....in some tracks this mysteriously disappears in the mixdown and did in the previous version ...I usually try to mask it by adding another sound when I hear a pop or click and it generally works (total beginner - with no clue)...will try to to it over tonight - any tricks to remove that? work on the that vocal piece....mucho thanks bear...will let you know how it turns out

***uploaded a newer version - much better and removed the click....again it seems the only way to do it was move the vocal over where it clicked????

Bro, another awesome effort from you. The standard over here in your neck of the woods is pretty high, and this track definitely meets those standards. I see you reached the 50 track limit. I think we need to lobby Looperman for another 50 spots so you don't have to remove any tracks just to add another.

I love that "flute" sound, gives it almost an ethnic feel. Awesome.

Great work as usual. Production is just dope :) Bravo Trax.
