I don`t have enough technical knowledge of the genre to comment on that Donnie...I just go by what sounds good to listen to...and this sure does...very nice job on the mix too.....Ed
Yeah, that's usually what I do too (play it by ear, if it sounds right or interesting I go with it). As for the mix, I'm still getting use to applying vocals (of another person). Don't do it that often. Glad ya dug the mix. Later on!
You have a quality piece of music going here maddface....good lyrics...vocals/harmonies definitely on the money...love that backing pad & the acoustic is right where it should be if you add a bass track....kudos to you.....exceptionally well done....Ed
Thank you! The pad sound is actually guitar volume swells with some effects on it. Just finished recording percussion. Not a full kit, just djembe and symbols. No bass on this track, right now we are just an acoustic trio. Thanks for listening man.
I haven`t caught up with all of your tracks yet Richie, but every time I hit play on another one I am totally taken in by the talent....like this one for example...Beautiful vocal for certain, but being an old guitar guy (whose listening skills have expanded over the years I think) I pay a lot of attention to the instruments, composition etc...I would run over the word limit to try & describe everything I like about this one...so let me just say a very well done to both of you...This one goes on my MP3 player...beautiful work....Ed (P.S:.I don`t own a Godin (yet) but they are one very high quality instrument that don`t get near as much attention as they should...I have played a few in the music store & love the feel of the slightly flatter neck radius...you`ve got your XTsa sounding extra sweet)
I'm glad you liked the "guitar only" approach to the track. I just felt like getting back to a basic three guitars and drums live feel was appropriate. Thanks for your very kind comments - much appreciated.
The Godin XTSA is a lovely guitar in many respects. It's beautifully made from high quality materials (never had a guitar with an ebony fretboard before - really nice) and has three distinctive playing opportunities. Normal electric (two humbuckers and a single coil), acoustic (using the built in transducers) and MIDI using the Roland GR55 compatible connection. So versatile. Anyway, I could go on and on (and on) about guitars so I'll stop right now.
Thanks again and always a great pleasure to have you visit and comment.
Right on Richie....super piece of work & just goes to prove that it can still sound great and as modern as ever...very tight playing & like that snappy beat...goes to the top on my chart.....Ed
Thanks very much for the comments and I thought you would like the guitar only approach. It's such a great vocal too and I immediately thought American bubble bum sort of sound. It's turned out a bit meatier but I'm happy with the results.
EXTRA cool track going on here Serge...fantastic mix of instruments but I particularly like those guitar licks of course....good listening..I have the opposite problem...when I pop the top on a beer I want to reach for a smoke...old habits die hard (& I don`t always fight them much)...great piece of work here...Ed
I like to here voice of pro...
I'm happy that you like it and yes, old habits die hard...after four years of non smoking, I'm dreaming that I have it in my hands...#####.ing hard to stay of..

Beautifully done jamesalexanderthompsn.....really doesn`t need much of anything that you don`t now have in the mix, but I can certainly hear how some strings would add to it and perhaps give more space to the composition......Ed
You are doing some real interesting music my friend...some imaginative composing going on over here...really like the mix of those jazz elements with the dance beat...good listening ....way to go...ED
TRULY AN HONOR 2 HAVE UR EARS ON IT T.WEED. THE WORDS R HUMBLING, THANK U. HAVE'NT BEEN 2 A CLUB IN 30 YEARS. NEVER COULD DANCE. SO, 4 ME A STRETCH.LOL. I'M GLAD IT'S EASY ON THE EARS. AGAIN AN HONOR PEACE.
real interesting mix...there is a modern funk power from the drums & the instrumentation gives me a little taste of the older blues vibe...this is good music with a message NDAPOCKET123...I`m not listening on my studio monitors but I would maybe bring the vocal up a couple of DBs...its well done....Ed
VERY GRATEFUL 4 THE LISTEN. 4 ME THIS IS A CHALLENGE. THE OLD BLUES AND GOSPEL IS WHAT I GREW UP ON. THE FUNK CAME LATER. TRYING 2 INCORPORATE ALL 3 AND GET THE RIGHT SOUND,WITH NO AUDIO TECH BACKGROUND(TRIAL AND ERROR).SO, WHEN U SAY, ''BRING VOCALS UP'', WHICH 1???? LEAD OR BACKROUND OR BOTH?? WHEN I LISTEN 2 IT I TURN DOWN THE BASS A LITTLE AND THE VOCALS R CLEARER 2 THE EARS. AGAIN THANKS 4 FEEDBACK. AN HONOR. PEACE.
beautiful piece of work Blackout...not what I expected when I read your profile...but I hope you keep on this path for a while..I have been where you describe...but with the northern lights instead of the lightening & thunder...no less majectic....great job.....Ed
Yes, I think this Music keep a lot of stress away.It makes me feel chilled and also, I can express my moods with this. And the place I am talking about is actually based on my Experience :) Not on a Mountain though, but still awesome!
mix volume & clarity is right up there j1k...in fact its likely a db or 2 over typical levels..I see you already have a couple of comments on placement of the sounds on the sound stage...so jsut a couple of notes on T-Racks 3..I have been using it since version 1..I have noticed on Win 64 bit it seems to like the ASIO4ALL driver...works fine with the ASIO driver for my interface but once in a while when I open it..it has kicked out that driver & is using ASIO4ALL..and it runs smooth on that too..If you are using a 64 bit operating system & still having problems with your usual, driver (in definitely does not work well on anything other than asio) try downloading the ASIO4ALL (its free & works with everything I have ever tried it with)...If you happen to be using a firewire interface with 64bit system, thats another story...but if I can help just shoot me a mail....Your track sounds dm good to me...couple of little tweeks & you`re off to the races...Ed
hey thanks for the tips man, i have to take a break from this track cuz its been pissing me off so much hahaha but i will let you know if i have any questions thanks again
my fingers started smoking just listening to that second part..yes..2 very different approaches...I was getting real comfortable listening to the acoustic session when things took a turn towards the rock..(and some superb playing I might add)...now I`m not sure which part I liked best...but,the whole thing is superb listening & a display of fine musicianship...amazing how these collaborations just multiply the talent.....well done...Ed
Thank you Ed,I'm glad you got the idea here.It did start out for me to be just a Rock song but it didn't take long for me to realize and accept this would be a hybrid type of song.
Alen and I are very different but we both share so much respect for what each other does musically.
My production is flawed but I was hoping this would be an interesting listen from two different worlds.
Thanks again Ed and I appreciate your take on this one!
Allen.
Looks like the Looper Family Band was in on this one..the full international cast....way to go..I can`t claim any significant knowledge of the genre, but I know where to come if I need any D&B lessons..very nicely done..you can play this one my radio any time....Ed
Haha, am flattered mate, but there are other folks who are my schooled on d-n-b than I (weazelbeats, rougeai, alen9r to name a few). I'm still what you'd class as a student here (am that in many ways and most of the times, really). As for the mix, try to do that with most of the stuff I do (give it a worldly flair). Am glad ya dug it. Later on!
I like this one Mosestone2211...has the potential to go in a variety of directions....the melody is very subtle under that big beat & bass but good listening over this side of the pond...Ed
Thank's for stopping by Tumbleweed, Not sure where or what next; Obviously away's yet to completion but! I'm sure the moment will hit me.. much respect man, I have listened to your work .. Awsome.
Hang on to the new Strat jimm57...it`ll love you back for a long long time...nice job on this one like the chord prog and fine work on the heartfelt vocal...right ton...Ed
Hey docshine....you definitely got the vocal character to do the blues ...I`ll just stick with the beer...just putting my feet up & poppin the cap...thank I`ll be giving this one another spin...well done...Ed
I`d have sworn you had been doing blues for a while Joessoundlab...MusicIzMee definitely does those vocals that inspire musical accompaniment...really nicely done...The Blues Bros could use your backing track too...lots of power..The kind of blues that gets people moving....right on...Ed
Those opening guitar lines grabbed my attention right away Richie (sounds a bit like Strat neck pickup?)..This is one of the best songs I have listened to in a long tome (no kidding)..rich emotional lyrics...perfect vocal delivery..and the accompaniment is about as good as it gets....This is pro stuff you two...exceptionally well done....Ed
It's the neck pickup alright but on my Godin xtsa! Glad you liked the sound and thank you so much for the comments. MIM4E is such an immense talent and putting tracks together with her wonderful acapellas is a pleasure. This was fun to do. Thanks again.
Yes...tight package would be the right description....no clutter here (something I am frequently guilty of creating)...just the goods and each part sits clearly in the mix....thanks for the lesson...enjoyed this one...Ed
surprised me a bit to find your new post was an Ambient one X....I`m a fan of the genre (even though I have none posted on The Loop)..it was a most pleasant surpeise too...very good late evening listening over my way....well done indeed....Hope to catch a couple of your other more recent tracks too...Ed
Thank you dude - really glad you enjoyed it - I thought it was time to let my pads out for a walk - I have a hard drive full of these tracks I might slip them out over the next couple of months see what reaction I get...looperman won't let me out as Occacia on my own due to IP address conflict so this side has to sit under my Xtatica label....Thanks again really appreciate the kind comment...:)
this one would be the perfect background music to the scene you describe DjDaz...bouncy but very laid back around that nice little chord prog....pop a top...I`ll be by shortly........well done...Ed
Thanks alot mate! I'm so glad my vision is communicated through the song! I wanted that summery/beach atmosphere in the song, so it means alot when I hear that the conveyance of that picture was successful. Thanks for checking my beat out!
I`m pretty uneducated on the genre DubChip...so I can`t comment intelligently on the composition structure etc...but I can tell you its dm good listening music over this side of the pond...It really starts to cook when the beats cut in and the ol bass starts thumping...hard not to get your body parts moving....very nicely done...I`ll stop back your way if I ever get up the courage to try some D&B...as I will definitely need lessons & us older guys are a bit thick about trying to learn new genres....keep on mate...Ed
