Wow...still listening as I write. Obviously much thought & talent went into the composition & instrument arrangement...very patient build and your vocal performance is totally on..the big space fits the atmosphere and instrument space..the instruments carry the rhythm nicely without percussion etc. Love the last section switch to the key prog and rich pad layers...superb piece of music Killick...fav....keep on...Ed
well...you put more than a little thought into this one,,,some nice detail in the backing to reinforce the words..nice to hear something different here on LM...well done.
Thank you! Just so you know, the trap track is just as it was. I didn't change it, just used it as is, and let it shape the lyrics accordingly. That break in the middle is there in the trap track, for example, and that shaped my little story, the first half going in and the second half coming out of the desert after nearly expiring. The shape of the story was determined by the shape of the music, which was handed to me on a silver platter. I love this type of exercise - or game. Find a great trap track and lay lyrics on it as is. Thanks, Tumbleweed, I have used many of your loops and have always appreciated your musicianship, which far exceeds mine.
There is a lot more to learn on production than some people think..don`t sweat it my friend...it just takes time. There are some decent training courses on line at Berklee Institute but like everything they cost a bit. Some of the music magazines are ok too but they tend to be DAW or genre specific. If you can find a good mentor with the knowledge and patience that really helps..I was able to get several friends locally started back in the days when I had better hearing and was actively involved in studio operation...no worries...it will come in time. Happy to help if I can but my music time is really limited lately. Bet you will find some help here on LM...thats what its about.
Well, here's the irony. I signed up for a course here in London, and the course asked to submit a song that could be wored on - so I wrote the current song last Sunday.
I think it would be an excellent thing to work with... but now the production course is probably not going to happen :D (facepalm)
So I'm weighing my options. There must be several ones; the teacher I mentioned actually studied at the Berklee you mention, so that's probably a good place to look.
BTW reuploaded an earlier mix. I had made a "cleaner" one yesterday but noticed just now that in fact it sucked (even more), so...
Has a cool retro vibe. I think you have about all the ingredients here,,the main issues are with production: needs to be stepped up in gain and lots of punch added. Good idea to start with compression on the individual tracks that need it (drums..quick release will get them perking...guitar, bass...you can nail the bass with lots of compression & a slow release..insert some soft-knee limiting on the master when you mix down...render a pre-master mix, then set up a new mastering project to finalize & bring a little closer to commercial volume...but don`t do the loudness war thing..it just squashes your instrument peaks...cheers...sounding good. keep it going..have fun
Thanks a lot Tumbleweed, some great tips - also some things I'm not sure where to start :D
I usually have some standard compression on the bass set up and some filters on guitar and vocals, but it's clearly not enough. Things to learn then, and that means growth :)
Thanks a lot for your help!!
big intro...the vocal sounds good in the mix..big heavy metal for sure..got my rock fix for the day now..think my hair is growing back (HaHa). Too bad you lost the project but what you have sounds good to me..See you are due for a new upload one of these days too...haven`t been on LM much lately myself due to personal circumstances but we poke our noses in once in a while..Hope all is well over your side of the pond..cheers..Ed
I see you (like me) haven`t been doing much Lm uploading in recent times silverman...but gotta say you have some nice tracks going on (listened to a few this aft)...this one is cool,,if I had more time and the world was a bit kinder to my health I would DL & try some guitar stuff on it....but just a listen for now,,,well done...cheers...Ed
The comments are well deserved OMaille..good listening & nicely produced. It does seem to invite a vocal or a bit of lead instruments in a few places to take it to another level, and thats a good thing....nicely done.
I have already noted just how great I think this track. Just having another listen today...and it means so much now. Thank you again Patricia and Richie. God bless.
First...sorry for the late reply my friend...I'm so off lately and choosing that kind of a track for upload just reflects that(I think). It's something different and a bit extreme this time...not really my usual stuff, but thank you so much for giving it a listen and for your words of support...always means alot !
your description is on the money,,def dark & heavy. I can hear this being played in a big arena. Nice job on composing & delivery Click...got my heavy fix for the day...Ed
cool stuff...you def still got the groove Filaofsoul50....I`m just sitting here with my 2nd morning coffee & enjoying the ride. Miss our old friend Joe around here..a a talented musician/producer and the kind of guy the world cpuld use more of...cheers...Ed
Yo Man thanks for stopping by and taking a listen. Good to see a ole timer here on looperman since it has been a while since I have been here that's why they 50 added to my name! Again thanks for the review got one n the can hope to finish soon Take Care! Fila
What you have going is nice and clean mix. The guitar is a little busy in the background in some spots so just as well is fairly quiet...anything that plays over or detracts from the vocal is a big F where I learned the production stuff. If a solo is called for do it where there is a break intended for it...a sparce/complimentary melody bit where its called for would hit the spot. Agree with B.O.D. def needs a bass line...something nice & fat would go good. Vocal is good...right in the same space as the music and a little in front is usually perfect. What you have so far sounds damn good pseudoble. Well done....keep on....Ed
Hey thanks Ed - yeah I usually multi track attempts a lead and then edit out the worst parts but never quite sure what to keep and what to toss or what might be worth showcasing or keeping in the background for texture and warmth.
Most of my last track have guitar in there somewhere although sometime you wouldnt know it!
Appreciate your listening and warm feedback : )
Hey...enjoying this one....thought I was gonna hear a Beatles style cover but this is def your own thing, and thats a good thing. Great mid tempo groove...cool instrumentation & vocal delivery....fab stuff BananaLu....cheers...
I´m a huge Beatles fan and back then i watched the documentary and i was back in my strawberryfield. in my opinion to cover a beatles Song you should be a ##### tremdous musician. The only thing i can do is to honor them and I tried to express what strawberryfields mean to me.
This is pro quality stuff my friend. I can`t honestly claim to be a big hip hop fan but if there were more like this I could easily change my mind. Has a cool R&B vibe. Vocal and diction are really good and the accompaniment is totally on the money...and kudos on the production..guess that makes the whole thing just a great track John...big well done to you...Ed
creative stuff B.O.D...gotta be the soundtrack for something but can`t quite put a handle on what the video might look like..my imagination is in park...just having a brew & listening....cool mix...cheers.
Wow....you d`man Mykael. This is just out-of-sight good. Smooth as silk and top class vocal. Big fav for me. Superb work my friend.
(PS: the vocal seems to be hard panned right but nothing could detract from such a great track)
Hey my friend! Thanks so much, I REALLY appreciate it when you stop by! I'm thrilled to know you enjoyed the track. Yeah, I was very new to DAW at the time, so stuff like panning was alien to me.
Aptly titled...def paints the picture. Ultra dark bass the contrasts well with the backing sounds & the high lead bit. Creative stuff and a good sounding mix Click....well done....cheers
My kind of easy listening Emmani..smooth, relaxing vibe that agrees with your description. Great bit of original work man...well done...enjoyed...keep on.
Best I have listened to today. Keys, drums, vocals (cool harmonies), guitar, bass, production all top class. Great work guys. Big well done to you...you`re better than my radio...cheers.

But I go where the money is and I believe will be. I try to keep it unique because I do not love the trap music either.
