impressed (hit a wrong button again) with your vocal talent. A gentle easy listening track..I don`t know why some smart production co. hasn`t got you signed up...keep on doing it Mykael....you`re due for a new on...best to you...Ed
LOL....thanks so much Ed! My heat is on the independent Musician side of things, not much interested in the "big leagues." After suffering multiple family losses, and the Government's reaction to covid for two years, we are finally back to completing my album. Fingers crossed!
liked this one right from the first note. Great to hear everything they way it really is instead of the canned and over-processed stuff that is much of commercial music..I have been attempting to create a Motown inspired mix this week so this whole track just rings the right bells for me...Not a think wrong with the mix in my opinion my friend and your vocal delivery is just fine...big Well Done to you..keep on doing it your own way..its the music that matters..Ed
Your vocal abilities are a gift Cam and so perfectly delivered. This is one of the best tracks I have heard on LM...well chosen rich sounds and fabulous work all round (really like that flute like synth bit too)...very pro. A well crafted mix that seems to cross several geners....superb....BRAVO...big fav..Ed
Wow....love this one BaoBou. Fab instrumentation and as far as I`m concerned your vocal character goes fine with the music mix...great job...big well done to you.
this is more than just metal Danke..has so many interesting elements...a rock opera..fabulous track. I didn`t realize you did this kind of music with your band..love to see you guys live..big well done mate...enjoyed every minute..Ed
We sometimes would like to play "quality" music cause the band in real is a hardcore/metal stuff with screams and aaarrrggghhhs from the singer ... :-)
i hear exactly what you are saying, no pressure at all and I won't hold my breath. when i think about it i can't really imagine what i would add either. i wonder what beat measure program you use.... I have yet to work out how to do that in reaper, when I try it never seems to work. besides which, the guitars/bass on this were done off grid, only the wee percs have a bpm and that was 75.
downloaded a copy (sounds damn good for a 96kps MP3). After listening, not sure I can really add anything that doesn`t bugger it up...I am in the habit of developing melodies around chord progs..playing in one key can sound more like gtr fx...anyway..I`m always up for a collab...usually learn something. Will give it a shot mate & see what I can come up with & get in touch if I can...may contact you if my beatmeasure program doesn`t want to calculate recording tempo...cheers....Ed
not too long at all..needed all 5 min to let the sound carry me away with it...great to hear some of this kind of music on LM. My own efforts have gotten so mellow in recent times I seldom thought of posting on LM (keep a few posts going on SC) as I didn`t think there would be much interest. This is really well done with fab production values..paints the picture you title perfectly...keep on..Ed
Nothing wrong with mellow Ed, don't let that stop you! Valve driver suggested in his comments on this track that he'd love to hear you lay some guitar on it. I have to agree! Thanks a lot for listening, I like to hear from you.
I knew before I hit play this was gonna be good..find some more Jamid..really thoughtfully composed...love the instrumentation..has an uplifting vibe that we could all use more of. Nice work on the production..even my old ears work when the mix is this good...well done mate..keep on.
in my experience emotions always generate the best music..this is really well done, nice expression in the vocal and accompaniment is right on...great job man...keep on.
like that Celtic harp...Do quite a few Celtic-inspired tracks as it is my way of remembering the good people back in my homeland..this is a cool mix..nice upbeat vibe & always good to hear something different here on LM...enjoyed the listen...keep on.
Wow...still listening as I write. Obviously much thought & talent went into the composition & instrument arrangement...very patient build and your vocal performance is totally on..the big space fits the atmosphere and instrument space..the instruments carry the rhythm nicely without percussion etc. Love the last section switch to the key prog and rich pad layers...superb piece of music Killick...fav....keep on...Ed
well...you put more than a little thought into this one,,,some nice detail in the backing to reinforce the words..nice to hear something different here on LM...well done.
Thank you! Just so you know, the trap track is just as it was. I didn't change it, just used it as is, and let it shape the lyrics accordingly. That break in the middle is there in the trap track, for example, and that shaped my little story, the first half going in and the second half coming out of the desert after nearly expiring. The shape of the story was determined by the shape of the music, which was handed to me on a silver platter. I love this type of exercise - or game. Find a great trap track and lay lyrics on it as is. Thanks, Tumbleweed, I have used many of your loops and have always appreciated your musicianship, which far exceeds mine.
There is a lot more to learn on production than some people think..don`t sweat it my friend...it just takes time. There are some decent training courses on line at Berklee Institute but like everything they cost a bit. Some of the music magazines are ok too but they tend to be DAW or genre specific. If you can find a good mentor with the knowledge and patience that really helps..I was able to get several friends locally started back in the days when I had better hearing and was actively involved in studio operation...no worries...it will come in time. Happy to help if I can but my music time is really limited lately. Bet you will find some help here on LM...thats what its about.
Well, here's the irony. I signed up for a course here in London, and the course asked to submit a song that could be wored on - so I wrote the current song last Sunday.
I think it would be an excellent thing to work with... but now the production course is probably not going to happen :D (facepalm)
So I'm weighing my options. There must be several ones; the teacher I mentioned actually studied at the Berklee you mention, so that's probably a good place to look.
BTW reuploaded an earlier mix. I had made a "cleaner" one yesterday but noticed just now that in fact it sucked (even more), so...
Has a cool retro vibe. I think you have about all the ingredients here,,the main issues are with production: needs to be stepped up in gain and lots of punch added. Good idea to start with compression on the individual tracks that need it (drums..quick release will get them perking...guitar, bass...you can nail the bass with lots of compression & a slow release..insert some soft-knee limiting on the master when you mix down...render a pre-master mix, then set up a new mastering project to finalize & bring a little closer to commercial volume...but don`t do the loudness war thing..it just squashes your instrument peaks...cheers...sounding good. keep it going..have fun
Thanks a lot Tumbleweed, some great tips - also some things I'm not sure where to start :D
I usually have some standard compression on the bass set up and some filters on guitar and vocals, but it's clearly not enough. Things to learn then, and that means growth :)
Thanks a lot for your help!!
