on Teslo by zoua
The first 0:40 is more my thing than the dubstep/hardstyle part ;) The music is really strong in this one, and I also like the originality of that part. To be really honest I don't have that feeling with the "dubstep" part, but that's probably because it's not so much my thing.
It's very impressive you combined both though, and I wouldn't mind the track being a bit longer. Good stuff!

on Murakami OPEN VERSE by bawnseye
Yeah same here, I saw "hyperpop" and braved myself, but that's a really catchy track, I like that. Perfect for driving or working out (which happens to be what I'm doing :D )
The intro threw me a bit though, and I had to go back to see what you had done - I heard it's indeed the same sample, so I guess it made sense, but it still felt like a bit too much of a jump.
Anyway, that's probably just me. Good track!

on WRIST IS FLOODED by SANDYMBEATS
I think this is really promising, and I say that as someone who is not a "trap" fan at all.
I think you can build on this and make a longer and fuller track; you already have 2 strong and distinctive sounds so it's a great basis. Good work man!

Appreciate your well thought constructive comment Baobou, as well as the kind words. Agreed I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out where to go after first verses and hook but reached a standstill at a 1:30 as I do with these fast trap beats. But imma keep at it ty again :)

on Brothers by DijamMusic
Super happy to hear you're back in action my friend! My favorite bit is the part from say 0:40, loads of interesting things going on, very good stuff, and the melody is simple but strong.
All the best Maj!

My dear great friend B.
I may study the books and sit in the classrooms but your experience is far exceeding all that.
Many thanks for your kind feedback.
I am glad you liked it too mate.

When Cruce says he's having fun, you know you're going on a trip. And what a trip it was! Really awesome and interesting! Lovely groove - just a bit sudden ending? Maybe put a "needle rips over record" sound there to show it's intentional?
Love it Steve!

Lol, always having fun mate, life is to short... So the ending was purposeful, I wanted it to end like you fell off a cliff (slight touch of the verb) but you make a good point with the scratch-ending trope.

on Ravens by Killick
Ok, now I know where the great comments on the vocals came from, you are an actual singer. If you live in London, Send me your rate and your phone number, that's awesome my man.
The operatic elements are fantastic. Beautiful opening, great composition; 8 minutes is long but it never bored.
You didn't ask for "helpful" comments but given how lovely your comments were, I will give it a try; I lived absolutely everything, but for me the piano parts can be even better (given how incredibly high the standard is for everything else in this track). The piano sounds like you play it at maximum volume, and I would like it to be more dynamic - it would be a great counterpoint to play it almost pianissimo, so the listener perks up. Just like you can get a classroom to shut up by whispering, rather than screaming :)
Cam, this was an amazing ride. Fav'ed and looking forward to more stuff!

Killick replied 18th Sep 2022 - 3 years ago
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed. Alas I don't live in London, but I'm very flattered that you'd make such an offer.

You're also very right about the piano part, upon re-listening a couple of days ago that's one of the things I noticed as well. Good ear!

on Bass ReBorn - Overload Mix by Kirkoid
Like it! Good stuff Kirk, but the first 30-50 seconds hardly register on my cheap inner ear phone headphones (that might be similar to what BoD is saying). Crank up some of the higher sounds a bit so people don't skip during the intro - because the rest is totally worth it!

I liked this anyway, but the bit from 0:45 is right up my alley. Good stuff and a nice mix of styles!

on it was like magic by AAD1official
Holy smoke, that is really awesome. So many twists and turns, AND each one made sense. My only complaint is that it's (way) too short, but you know what, I'll just listen twice. You've got a fan, buddy!
AAD1official
AAD1official replied 17th Sep 2022 - 3 years ago
Ay thanks man, I'm just starting out in this whole music thing and I love seeing people enjoy it. I actually do plan to make the track longer for release but thank you so much for giving it a listen!

Very jazzy! I had no idea what to expect there, but I like the keys. I think you can easily lift them a bit in the mix, I think the melody should be the main focus?
Muy bien amigo!

on WEIRD SH-T by DEMYBU
Yeah I'm sure there was some pleasurable smoke in the air but you know what, I like it. I do think you could mix in some more melodic elements; this could either be the climax of a track or maybe an intro to something else, but I was intrigued throughout. Good start!

on Watch That Sound by Kirkoid
Another foray into 80s music eh? Love it man, although I wouldn't mind a bit of (syncopated) hihat in the drums for some more funk and some brightness. Great stuff and great use of the vocal!
Kirkoid
Kirkoid replied 3rd Sep 2022 - 3 years ago
Thank you. Happy to add some hihat if you can identify the sort of thing you're thinking of, BPM is 120.

on I was thinking of you by Aleatz
Yeah, I like that. Good kind of sound, would be great for a nice vocal or rap or both. Well done - see if you can find an acapella? In my experience people very rarely take up the challenge so you may have to do it yourself ;)

on LOVE LIKE MINE by Mykael
Also a lovely track! Obviously your voice is the star, although the music could maybe use a bit more detail, but who needs that with a voice like yours. Oh, and more drums here which is good :D
Love your work buddy, anything new coming up? :) Let me know if you'd ever want to Collab, I'd love to see if I can create a track for you!

Thank you so much for the comments. I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to listen to the track and sharing your thoughts. As far as new projects, yes...definitely. I'm (along with a handful of others) working on completing an album project. I have in the meantime uploaded here a Jill Scott Cover as well as a companion music video uploaded to Youtube. You can check it out at http://mykael.rocks -- you can either contact me through there, or message me here. Looking forward to hearing from you, and thanks again.

on Pound In My Pocket - Verns Alphabet Soup Mix by Kirkoid
I grew up with the music of Ian Duty. It was weird and exciting to us - we didn't get the lyrics, we certainly didn't get his appearance but boy did we get the energy. There's also this amazing docu on Stuff where they tell the story nobody wanted to perform after Dury because no band could top that energy.

Yeah, I get it, and you are getting very close to the energy of the band. And that's saying something. Very well done my friend!

His son Baxter sounds like his dad. He's a musician too. I once heard the Blockheads perform on BBC 6 Music (Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show) with Baxter and it was amazing.

Nice track, love the Chinese bells (are those 編鐘?) which give your track a very distinct flavor. Greetings from a former Hongkonger :)

They are Bian Zhong, a kind of ancient bell set that owns a history of about 8000 years. One of the most famous Bian Zhong is the 2370-year-old Zeng Hou Yi Bian Zhong, made of bronze and found in HuBei province in 1977.

Thanks for ur comment btw )

on Drown by Yourmuse
I can totally hear how a Evanescense-like vocal would be amazing here (or Tori Amos maybe?).

I would urge you to give it a try - mixing vocals is hard (I suck at it so I won't give you advice) but you know what, often when I try people give useful advice here.

The track cuts off unexpectedly mid-phrase at 2:24, was that your intention?

Good luck. It takes guts to put out your vocals, I know that, but trying and getting feedback can only make you better :)

Thanks for the encouragement! It's scary to let people hear me sing but I agree with you that it must be done in order to get better.
Oh, to sing like Amy Lee would be a dream come true hehe

Ooh, I think you went a bit overboard with the gain on the track and especially the vocals Alex, see if you can turn them down a bit? Leave some headroom.
Beautiful lyrics as always!
