Great production, there are some amazing drops here, and 1:40 part with African chanting really gives a song another dimension making it stand out even more, I hope the other songs from that EP are gonna be as good as this one! Cheers!
Lyrics are kinda depressing, but in a good way and music sort of contradicts that by being more upbeat. Track indeed has some interesting and different vibe going on. I guess there's more polishing to do, but if other songs on that EP are going to be like this one, I'm definitely going to have a listen. Cheers!
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it. The idea was kind of self-deprecating lyrics with more of this bouncy bass and big strings, definitely meant it to be contradictory!
You have a really nice voice, what could the song benefit from is doing backup vocals and harmonizing some parts, also, strings at chorus would add some variation. You should check out this amazing song by Echoes and maybe start referencing it for your mix. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PURp-73jgjs
Great instrumental, only thing i have a complaint about are the vocals, they are overshadowed by guitars too much in my opinion. Other than that it is indeed a promising metal song.
I actualy like the vocals, not highest quality, but fitting for 80's vibe that's going on in the song, Everything seems nicely mixed, backing lead melody sounds great.
Hi, Perko. Thanks for the support on the track. Vocals are, I agree, not great but I did try to capture the essence of this kind of genre. My main objective in doing vocals on my tracks, something I really hate doing frankly, is to hopefully inspire better vocalists to collaborate on the track and replace what I did. Looks like it has worked in this case, thankfully. :)
The name of the song definitely fits, although I'm not sure the genre is rock. What I like about the song is that it has a soundtrackish feel to it so it could be fitting as a background music, but on the other hand if you want this to be a real song you would need vocals, because without them it sounds kind of monotone.
Wow, impressive mix considering all the stuff going on at the same time, must have had a lot of eq-ing to do. But mixing aside I think arrangement is also great, maybe even better because this song is really a ride and everything is so seamless when it comes to transitions. I also liked the natural tone of drums, did you record them in a studio or are drums sampled?
Yes, there certainly is a lot of stuff going on here though I'm sure I have more simultaneous stuff in some of my other tracks. I'm not sure I really do that much EQing. There are different ways to shape the sounds, such as filtering on synths as well as adjusting the velocities of the individual drum hits.
"everything is so seamless when it comes to transitions"
Thanks. I don't always get it right and I think there are a couple of transitions that could be a bit better in this one.
There are lots of drums in here. I'm using probably at least 10-15 separate drum loops plus a few hypersampled acoustic drum kits made by Toontrack. They are a mixture of Superior and EZ Drummer kits, which are very good and not too expensive.
"did you record them in a studio"
I didn't record the Toontrack kits in a studio but someone else did. Have a look at some of the short videos on the Toontrack site and you'll see how they make their drum sample packs. They're real kits, recorded in real studios and then the end user gets to choose how to mix and trigger/program those sounds.
From what i heard sounds really promising, steady and rock solid beat, everything seems mixed properly, only thing i would do is kind of reanrrange the song, I feel like some nice buildup could create tension for the drop at 00:29 which is my favourite drop in this track, but it really depends on what style are you going for and what you like.
All I can say is that this song is really nice and really different than most stuff heard nowdays, has it's own story and vibe going on, some parts(may be the beat) reminded me of Ratatat, do you listen to them by any chance? If not you should check them out, although most of their songs are performed with live guitars. Anyway, keep on doing what you're doing.
Thanks for calling and leaving a comment.
I never heard of this group Ratatat so went to the tube for a look and a listen.
Comparing my stuff with them is more than fine thank you.
This was the one I picked and yes even I can hear the likeness.

This is some rock solid mix, and backing guitars add amazing atmosphere to the song. I am guessing you are looking for vocalist, probably rapper(most likely fit in this kind of beat) and I hope you find someone, because it would be a shame for this song to not have any lyrics. Song is really nice even without them, but vocals would really add to the arrangement. Anyway,
