Very very interesting stuff! I guess I'm generally a purist when it comes to trance, so I'll say that this seems like a different genre altogether. For example most of it seems half time, which rarely shows up in the beat and bass of classic trance. Has more of an ambient and dubsteppy vibe to it. Also a good trance song should be trance inducing, which I guess this did not for me. I like your melodies and all, and you wouldn't really need to change those. A main section or two with full time rhythmic elements would add a lot I think. Definitely would help make this a longer song as well, which is also quite common in trance music. Might I ask what the tempo of this is? It's a nice sounding mix so far though, so don't change that too much! Had fun listening!

Mephod replied 11th Apr 2015 - 10 years ago
Thank you for the feedback it's really helping me make my song sound better and become more trancy, I'm gonna add some more volume envelopes to give it a more trance feel and I might make the dubstep part less dirty to make it mix with the trance vibe in this song more.

on -Vox Chop- old demo by Darklighter
Hey there, I am actually liking this one quite a bit! The first listen was while I was feeding my cat, so I didn't listen closely, but came back to hear it again right away. I think you've used these vocals really well. I do agree with some of the others about the drums and bass being really over-amped, but I think it is more in the mixing than the mastering. I got the distinct impression that there were some drastic automation events which shifted the balance a bit too much. I think if the drums, bass, and automation were a bit more understated, and the mastering was more gentle, then this would be a real winner! If these vocals are used legally, then I would recommend you try to work something out with the original artist for release. It's cool and unusual! Fave!
Darklighter
Darklighter replied 5th Apr 2015 - 10 years ago
you nailed it!
I slightly modified the bass and removed the compressor effect
but the automations are still making it sound slightly compressed

thanks for the feedback!

Hey, pretty cool stuff here! I don't really listen to or make dubstep much any more, but I can appreciate the musical value of this WIP. Hope you find what(who) you are looking for! Good work!

on Outside - A Ride IntoThe Unknown by joecramer
The bass in the intro hit me hard, and I was quite impressed! When the other instruments began to enter, I got the profound feeling that I had heard this before. As far as the ambient genre goes, this is quite cool and vintage sounding. I wish Ian Curtis was around to do some vocals for this one! Nicely done!

Hey Spivkurl
I tryed to find words for this but didn“t found any. So i would be happy if Ian would do something to this track. Or any other who get words for it.
This bass is a sample from myself. I used it for -Halt mich- and in this track here i used lot of stuff from the intro of that song too. So maybe you listen to it befor or it just sounds like something you listen befor :)

....... ah ja Ian Curtis, that would be cool .......

stay tuned

yo yo Spiv!

Thanks for stop by and your comment !
and im glad you like this one too.

But Im not satisfied with the synths and the melodie ..
I discovered a new tool again ,to make some leadsynths
and i dont know how to work with it in a proper way..
I have to try and learn.

The body of this track is okay(samples, drums, percusion)
But synths /baseline can be better (in my opinion).

i hope you ve got some new ideas for it.

Greetz and see ya !

Yes, I am really liking this one! Has those trippy high speed arpeggio sounds that I loved so much in old video games. One of the funny differences between something like this and the old video games is that this isn't a round a minute long and looping until infinity! (Or at least until you complete the level!) Any, dig the sounds and the composition. Big fave!

Thank you very much for your nice review.
I love those sounds too, so much.
I guess I am old school :D
But I don't care. As long as you love what you do, it can't be
wrong.

Strange and interesting! Never been a fan of action movies or exercise equipment... but you know it's still a good song! Sounds like it would be hard to do these vocals. An oldie but a goodie!

Loving the "broken beat" feel to this! Definitely reminds me of some jazz, but with a definite samba edge. Cool electric piano work, and the guitar is a nice touch. If my cat were hearing this, I'm sure she'd get into the sax! Fun smooth song! Great work!

Hey, welcome back to the Loop friend! I am digging the sound design on this one. Reminds me of jazzy inspired breakbeat in a way. Cool vocal parts in there! I do have a recommendation though. I did a quick download (thank you for the share BTW), and opened it up in the audio editor. It has pretty strong clipping in all the more densely mixed areas. You may want to check on that and go turn some things down a bit. I think the mix sounds pretty decent, so it may just be in the mastering stage, hard to tell. Also I might add that Gore33's comment was a bit ridiculous and generic. Nice to hear something new from you!

I apologize, I meant to say "now" and not "not"... don't know if it was just a freudian slip up or a typo or what. But since you asked, I am back with a bit of explanation of the origins of chip tune. 8-bit and chip tune are technically two separate things in some cases, but are definitely related. Basically, chip tune is music made with sounds from "chips" or integrated circuits and could be at any bit rate, while 8-bit would pretty much mean any song created with sounds or samples from an 8 bit sound engine. Some chip tune is 8 bit, while *all* 8 bit should officially be chip tune, if that makes sense. Some popular examples of devices used in classic chip tune include SN76477 (used in many old arcade games, such as space invaders), the famous SID chip (used in commodore 64), and the tracker programs used on Amiga computers... also included would be Game Boy, and various circuits using TTL or CMOS logic IC's. There are others of course, and I would definitely include many vintage electronic toys in the chip tune range, such as Texas Instruments Speak and Spell, Casio SK sampling keyboards, and Talking Computrons. Then we get to the fact that, technically, 8 bit music should be recorded and distributed in 8-bit format, and not the more common 16 or 24 bit of modern music. Totally not saying you should change what you do, because I enjoyed listening! Just like discussing this sort of thing, so I thought I would respond. Take care!
Ohropack
Ohropack replied 29th Mar 2015 - 10 years ago
Alright, thank you for your explanation.
I think I understand what you mean.
Chiptune music is imitating the original so it sounds like 8-BIT, while original 8-BIT music is... well... original and not a fake. :)

aaahh yes, not here's a genuine sounding chip piece! I realize it is probably VST stuff, but it sounds believable! Like I am playing a vintage 80s NES cartridge or something. Pleasing sound, and cool panning in the stereo field. Right on for your efforts here! Dig it!
Ohropack
Ohropack replied 29th Mar 2015 - 10 years ago
Yes you are totally right.
The sounds coming from a VST plugin. I just put them in notes
and make a melody of it :)
Well I didn't know that 8-BIT Chiptune is something different.
Maybe you could explain me what it is. I would be thankfully for your effort.

on Dan Alan - Beat Fighter by Tripcore
While I feel that this is not strictly 8-bit chiptune music, but instead glitch, I still enjoy the idea of the song. I realize you have used some 8 bit sounding synths in there of course, so there's that... I like the tribal feel of this. Also the Street Fighter reference is a good move! The 8 bit sounds are VST I'm assuming? Good enough for government work as we say around here. Fun track, and kudos for the creative commons release!
Tripcore
Tripcore replied 30th Mar 2015 - 10 years ago
Yeah, it's a dance tune primarily, with chiptune sounds. I do have a few pure chiptune tracks available elsewhere. I figured there's a growing need of royalty free music in general in this day & age so I dedicate some of my time to it. The samples are from the internet but not are VST as far as I know. Thanks for the comment.

on Crying in Tune feat Katie Bregman by mrwolf14
A very well composed chill out piece you've made here! I really enjoyed the guitar work especially. The vocals were very well recorded, though not my favorite style... that is all personal preference though of course. A great sounding mix, and I think it could have a more chill out effect if the mastering were a bit more gentle. All in all a pleasant listening experience!

Hi Spiv,
Thanks for the comment.
I may have "over-compressed" this a bit: I tried to put together several different songs to build an album and of course it was hard to have all the tracks playing "as a whole" and not as a collection of separate tracks. I am no expert in this, so I may have overdone it in some spots.

And thanks also for the comment on the vocal line: I liked it a lot, but of course this is a personal preference. And you have all the right in the world to disagree :-)

Thanks again!
Ciao, Domenico

Cool composition on this one, and I am deciding that only based on the first minute. Pleasing melodic passages to compliment the chords you've used. Seems like virtual instruments, but they are used quite well! I like the dynamic feel of the mix/master here too. I'm guessing that those are real guitars though, they have a nice tone. Who did these vocals? They are pretty potent. Not my usual listening preference, but it has a lot of power to it! Great work!

Hey Spiv,

Thanks allot for checking it out and taking time to comment.

Yeah, this is a combination of VST's and real instruments and the vocals were a few different samples I had in my toolbox that seemed to fit in well.

Cheers,
Scott

on Apocalypse 2015 - revolta2 version by joecramer
When I listen to songs like this created by you, and read the translation to english, I always get the reinforced feeling that I need to move to Germany sooner rather than later. If these lyrics communicate your true feelings, and there are others there who feel this way, then maybe I and my wife would fit in there. It seems like people in the US are so comfortable (and complacent) that I have grown to hate all of them, even family and those who were close friends. I firmly believe that the current course we are on as a human race will destroy everything which is of true value.... very soon. Your song speaks to me. Doesn't matter what synth you used here, you made an excellent expressive piece. Reminds me of when the only synth I had to work with was the Casio CZ-101. The good old days. Now it doesn't even turn on... I could fix it if I wanted, but it is like a shrine or grave stone in my studio. Amazing work! Faved!

Hello Spivkurl

The lyrics are truely what i feel when i look around. When i wrote them i realy hateted all this "others" out there. Stupid little humans with no real live ...... Right now i am not so extreme any more but thats is maybe just the way how -being a father- change things to see. So right now i believe that it is not right now the time of the end :) and i hope that the times of the sighns isnt start already. But to be true, if i look around right now and think about the "others" i am not sure that this freaks will change the world to a better place......
And it is hard to say but i didn“t found much germans with the same feelings about the world and the meaning of live :)
So maybe you will not find here realy where you looking for. Best way to get out of all this -problems- is just focus on yourself. Switch on your inner light and start to shine. Forget all others and be just a clear light with no needs in getting of anything. Be part of the "right feelings" nothing more nothing less.
Nice to know that this song gives you so much feelings.
So thanks for your comment and chareing your feelings and the fav.

stay tuned my soulbrother

on Ambient 4 by Scyphozoa
A very expressive and enjoyable track! I really like the slow potent melodies here. I would love to hear a jam on a guitar to MIDI sort of controller here, with the expression of a guitar and the stability of a MIDI synth. Just a though, I think it could be great! Another masterful ambient track which reminds me of Eno, but with modern software aesthetics. Nice one!

Hello
you're right that become great with than just nuts with little reverb guitar solo no chords i think
i want to mix dark electro, ambient, trance, guitar solo and a underground dark voice with text of life to a song
it would be great
But i mis only a ananloge synth like doepher A100 with midi sync for a bass sequence i think next year...:)

I also like the future sound of london, the aphex twin and Mikhail Medvedev (search on you tube) great artist

Many musical greetings

I'm guessing the "na" genre is a genre that is no longer supported on Looperman, but I could be wrong... maybe it's a reference to narcotics anonymous???! Any way, yeah this track is dark and dirty, you're right! I dig it! That clap is simple, but very effective with it's presence. Cool ethnic sort of percs in there as well. The acid synth was a nice unexpected addition! Fun to hear and expressive in a minimal fashion. Nice one!

on Hunting For Gatherers Feat Fya Philly by Philemonster1
Hey, I'm liking this one very much! I think it sounds like a cross between dancehall and fusion rock, which can't be a bad thing. Since it seems like I misinterpreted the title, I won't take it personally. (I'm sort of the essential gatherer) Evisma's instrumental is excellent, he always has a great ear for music. I'm thinking you recorded your vocals over an mp3 of his track, and that is probably my least favorite aspect of this song. I can't help but hear the degradation when this is done. Not an insult to your skill at all though, just a general frustration with people using mp3s for anything more than easy distribution of their work. I found it to be a really enjoyable track! Fave!

I can't believe this never got a comment! It's really very cool! Love the trippy feel to the music and lyrics. The thin guitar lead just sounds awesome, did you cut a slit in your speaker to get that sound? ha ha! Quite a cool vocal production. This has a nice live vibe, and a bit of analog recording flavor. I'm happy I found this one, just what I needed to hear this morning! Fave!

Hey, it was a pleasant surprise seeing one of your tracks show up on the thread I just started! This one is really quite good! I think the drums and melodies sync up very seamlessly. It seems like you achieved your goal in this one. I'm not a big fan of anime or anything, but this stands well on it's own. You spoke about layering to achieve a solid low end. Lately I've been finding that the more layered I do it, the more muddy the low end becomes. I always like a simple centered mono bass, with a good stereo field for the mids and highs... especially in a song without vocals. Either way, it sounds cool! Good to hear one of your tracks!
