Loving the strings alot. E City's verse seems kinda low in the mix, might wanna kick it up just a few db. Other than that its a dope track man. Cheers :D
Real chilled out vibe. What catches me alot is the reverse piano. Gets kinda dark with it then comes back to the sunny side. Gave it another listen. It's got a dope vibe with the acoustic coming in at around 29 sec or so. It's a sick combo with the organ and all that. I guess I kinda key on dark sounds more. Also the perc and drums are really varied. Gives it a bigger sound. It's a trip all this was done on a Touch. Only advice I can give is, play with some delay and reverb a bit. Dub music loves delay and hard spring verb sounds. I like it as is already so dubbin some stuff to it might add some new flavor. Cheers :D
Thanks for the review! actually the piano was totally a happy accident, I meant apply a different effect and accidentally clicked reverse, but I gave it a listen and was like "woah that sounds sweet" I took your advice (and the advice of many others) and added some reverb and delay... at least to a lot of the vocals. One of the sad restrictions of Beatmaker is that it only has 2 channels for fx, only 4 of them, and if you want to apply delay to something like the drum track, it affects the drums for THE WHOLE SONG... Otherwise I would have added some reverb to the drums in certain parts. maybe when I pony up the dough for a laptop and invest in some REAL equipment, I'll come back and tweak it some more. Thanks again!
This is really, really good. Love this sound here. This is the first time I get to hear a track of yours(I usually roam the featured track box lol), so didn't know what to expect. Blown away. I've kinda gotten used to seeing the electronic tag and hearing really loud synths and dirty sounding 4 on the floor beats. Not that theres anything wrong with some grit, but dynamic is something to cherish also. I consider this a pleasure. When this gets finished(hopefully), its easily gonna be a great track. Already is in my book. Cheers :D
Thanks, I'm really glad that you liked the track, thank you for the fav! I'll check out your "dead" track soon, but I'm really glad I bought this one back, because I think its one of my better songs up on the site now.
Now this is awesome. A great intro that just makes you feel like it's nice and warm. That mid section was super sci fi feeling. I'm a geek so of course anything sci fi makes me tingle lol. Then the chaos. The battling piano lines make it all the more chaotic. I grew up listening to the powers of dissonance. Theres this crazy sonic triumvirate here. Don't know if its intentional or fluke but it's awesome. The sub bass, the piano(s), the brass! Honestly don't know if people are hearing that. It's crazy lol. The brass and bass make it work alot. As the brass kinda fades the alternating piano notes replace the clashing notes. Listened to it again. I tip my hat. I've done things like this but not really all that good. It has given me some ideas. Loved this alot man. Thanks for the download also Cheers :D
Theres alot of really great sounds here. Not sure I've heard Ambient Dubstep before but this makes alot of sense. Theres some sounds that kinda muddy things up a bit. Don't know how many bass sounds might be layered but you could try phase inversion or hard panning. The hard panning would need an imager to make the sounds mono. That could also lead into some other frequency issues with the other spacial sounds in the same area. I hate mixing lol. But, with the mix it has, you get a real good sense of everything. Don't know if your still tinkering with this track, but the ambient dub sound is something I gotta look into more. Cheers :D
Sorry for such a late reply. Sounds really good. Has a real H-town type sound to it. Lovin the sub kick's alot. Been making tracks for around five years now and still haven't got a kick like this one. Also with so much going on, everything comes through in the mix really good. Gotta fav this one up. Thanks for using one of my loops and making a sick track with it. Cheers :D
Sounding just sick. Bass hits beauty levels. Alot of little things just make it so good so far. The echo to that pitched/portamento-ish sound and the faster drums to the drop. Damn! Snare panning was tight also. Bass, like I said was just right. Definitely looking forward to the finished track. Cheers :D
Update: Hell yea! That part from 2:25 to 2:33 just takes you back to it so nicely. I'm listening on some headphones and the bass is just awesome. Theres this deep bass that really wobbles nicely. It like a sub wobble. It's tight. Real big tune man. I should have to pay to listen to this! Cheers :D
One of my favorite songs. So much more introverted here lol. Sounds like there's multiple vocal takes mixed together. Adds a cool dynamic vocally. Great cover. Cheers :D
Sounds like its got everything there. Really good sounds and some sick blast beats and guitar work. Personally I think the mix could use some separation. With such a layered piece some elements seem to be getting displaced in the mix. Easier said than done I know lol. It's still an awesome track none the less. Cheers :D
Sweet! I had heard it before after I saw the video for that Machina vid for TrackMania. Brings back good times with Portal. The video's so cool also. That chorus is so damn catchy lol. Hopefully we will get another tune for Portal 2 from ya Ray. Cheers :D
Filthy as all hell man. Really liked that kinda chilled intro. I gotta say those kicks come thru great. With such a deep growly bass that makes it so much better to hear those kick come through in the mix. Keeps it all flowing real good. That bass that gets distorted is sick. I always have probs with using Reason's Scream and trying to get that effect with out clipping the whole tune. You did that real good and adds to the drop. Sounds killer with all the samples. I don't know what you used on the bass(subtractor, malstrom, thor etc..) but it was awesome. Even sounds like maybe the res on the Scream was being modulated. Only thing I can say to change maybe is the drums in the intro. Not the sounds but the pace. Like real slow. Don't know if that makes sense lol. Cheers :D
Cheers mate....right the trick is to not use LFO's and make the waves your self and then you can modulate anything you want to make it wobble and as you noticed i modulated the res and the scale on one of my screams along with an evelope controlled filter, makes for a reaaal heavy sound man.... cheers for the review!
Track is crazy man. Starts real slow but totally goes sick. Such a great combination of dnb with gabber, ebm, hardstyle and half time grooves. Probably alot of other things also. Loved it. Cheers :D
Fantastic tune. I could say this very reminiscent of 80's new wave or the modern revival of the old new wave lol. Really raw but thats what makes it more endearing in the cut and paste world of digital music now. I must say it really reminds me of XTC. Don't know if you know who they are. Should check them out. Sick tune though. Cheers :D
Had to have another listen of some more of your work. Beautiful string work there. Very clean sweeps. Awesome tone. Hope your not the plug and play types. That would kill me lol. Such sweet tone. Has a Steve Lukather kinda tone. Kinda hollow but still maintains a good mid and highs. Just gave it another listen. It's just great to hear it. Got a Al Pitrelli vibe the second go. Really cool stuff. Great collaboration. I gotta check out Frenchkid's stuff aswell. Made my night. Cheers and thanks for the tune :D
Thanks again for listening to my tunes.I've said this before but never enough...I really do listen to the"song"when collaborating,it doesen't matter how many licks or how can I make it all about guitar. In this situation,I was the guest and as so I feel my role is to complement that song...even if it means playing just 3 notes...as long as it's the right notes all is good.In a nutshell,if someone says"this song sounds great"we all win...If someone says"song wasn't good but you sound great"then I failed,I coulda just done a 3min solo and not messed up the track cause it was fine before I came along. The tone complement is the same way...What works for this song...no one size fits all.
Did I say i'm glad you liked it:)

Great father and son collaboration. Your son has some great engineering on this. I tripped out when it slowed down and went kinda half time. Awesome guitar playing on your part man. Good crunch and some great highs on there. Zoom modules are always overlooked but some great industrial music has been made with them, and outside of industrial also. Goes to show talent cant be replaced by technology. Cheers to your son and you. :D
Thank you so much MCHN.My Son has a new baby now and we haven't done anything in a while but we will.Seems like yesterday when he was just a little looper! That Zoom pedal...we have a love hate relationship goin on.If i'm really careful and turn the right knobs it treats me ok but one wrong move and the sound is gone, people say"you use a Zoom?"and I say it's what I have and if you mess with it long enough you just might find a good sound there...just be sure to save the patch...twice.Thank you for the kind words.
Hell yea. Machinima! Grew up playing racing games and listening to their soundtracks. Destruction Derby, Twisted Metal.. and Industrial tunes. And drugs. Cars and drugs. I don't condone doing drugs, well not driving at least. But drugs and video games.. YaY!
Love it man. Whats the game this is going for?
Thanks MCHN.
The game I used was TrackMania. I loved the tools for recording and capturing footage, even though it is a pretty old game, but it was free at least. Here is a link to the video if you want to see it:
You definitely got some sick drums going in this. Well panned out and just keep everything moving nice. At a lil over 2 minutes it makes you have to come back and listen more. Addictive. Cheers :D
This tune has such a sick vibe. Its cinematic, dance, electronic. It's just alot in one track. I could see belly dancers. Lots of belly dancers lol. Has a real nice sub kick in there that just pumps up real good. Stings that caught me were the koto. Used alot of them on some tunes, but these sounded way cooler. Really good speed and bends. Really good. Drums were also really good. Theres moments were it feels like the drums and strings ride in syncopation then they dont, that's just something other worldly. Gonna end the rant with very sweet tune and cheers. DL and Faved :D
So many listens and no reviews? Shame. This has some good stuff going. Bass could use a little more impact. Could add a sine sub to give that big booming effect. The drums sound good. Theres a part where the hats pan around that was effective. Made my ears feel like they were moving around. Theres some moments where things could get crazier and stuff. Tempo also felt just a bit slower, but I been listenin to DnB so it might just be my ears lol. Also, you could resample some stuff and add some scream(warp or the digital setting) and get some gritty sounds out. Tracks solid though, does the job for me. Cheers and sorry for the long review :D

RoboCop is one of my fave movies also. That's a plus in my book :D
Cheers mate ... yea iv never really got round to it .. i did try to make it a lot grittier but it was going too mental and hurtin my ears :( im going to redo it and put it on my release with my new tunes anyway ... you should watch out for the Robotronics album on itunes...Thanks for the review mate!
I gotta say the drums are really nice on this. Great sound on them. Loved the whole vibe. Has different elements here and there that add to it. Kind of dark glitchy industrial deep house. Could use a little more volume in the bass frequencies on that saw bass. Just a thought though. Cheers :D
This has a very detached feel. Sounds like its in a odd time signature. Gives it a very unique mix where the guitar is behind the notes of the snare hits, but doesn't seem to fall out. Jazzy feel I guess. Gonna d/l and listen some more. Cheers :D
I like the gritty vibe. The main synth sequence could use some variety. A good part for that to happen is when the guitar comes down to that heavy chord riff. If the synth matched up to the key of the guitar chords it would be a good change. Could also double up the guitar to bring it out a bit more. Cheers
I thought I was in for something a bit darker. Total different direction. A very good direction by my ears. The bass, amazing. Really locks into that groove that the cymbal ride has going. The samples add to the ambiance of the song, but don't take away from that main groove. I must say again, that bass is very good. Sounds like a fretless maybe? Not sure, but very pleasing. As for the theme of the tune... Very hard to put that into words. Sadly history repeats and revision makes us forget. Cheers
Hey thanks man..I don't often get my old material reviewed..this was made on a Zoom multi-track digital recorder...seems like the dark ages compared to the computer DAW's everyone uses now...thank you for the listen much appreciated!..cheers Dave :)
