LMAO! Since this is the first time I've ever listened to or review one of your tracks, let me say that this is certainly different. I liken your vocal pattern on this tune to some "Frank Zappa" ie: "I Come From Nowhere". Interesting track musically and conceptually, lots of fun for sure.
Well, I'm certainly glad you liked it. I trust Frank Zappa is a good comparison. I've also been compared to Zappo and Squidbillies. As long as I'm not compared to meadow muffins. Thanks for listening and commenting (LMAO was music to my ears). May I ask what made you wanna listen to this track (since you've never heard of me or it)? vig
Hey Fatal great job on this track! Dig your vocal style / approach, I really liked the big delay on the hook of the song
though I couldn't quite make out the last word. Correct me but it sounds like you were saying "You are Nothing?" Tried pulling up the lyrics but couldn't get into that section for some reason. With that low metal groove, this is a around great track for this genre. Great Job
Thanks for listening ! I don't have the vocal cords for the constant screams that metal has these days, so i took a more Sabbath/katatonic sort of approach.
You are absolutely correct "you are nothing" is what i was saying! I think you have to be signed into the site to pull up the lyrics:).
Thanks for the compliment and the kind words, you rock !
I see you must be a fellow Gemini like myself, (my birthday was on the 3rd & my daughters is today lol!) So Happy Birthday to you! This was a nice concept for this track, the mellow piano loop opening the tune lingering into the hip hop track was very chilled. I liked the "low audible samples / mixes" in the mid section of the tune. A nice chilled track for sure, great job.
AYYYEEE! yup, june 14th! Happy belated Birthday though! And happy birthday to your daughter as well! Wow, this month has gotta be pretty festive for you haha. Anyways, thanks for the listen! i really do appreciate your comment man! Means the world, much love bro!
Format, young man I find that you have some interesting and deep insights on the subject matter that you present. I like your thought process and it's truly refreshing to hear a artist of your caliber doing your thing. I'm not into the "Get My Money- Shoot You to get Yo Money, Shoot 'em all Up and then degrade our Sistas in the process" kind of rap.
I more into "conscious / political" style Hip Hop ie: "Immortal Technique," "Boots Riley & The Coup," "Street Sweeper Social Club," (also Boots Riley) "Dead Prez," ect,
Hip Hop with a true messgae.
The more I listen to your tracks, the more I'm liking what I hear. The "Landr" site did do a great job in mixing and mastering on this track, congates. Another great production
very well done!
Thank you for the compliments and kind words. The Universe has a way of bringing balance to everything, even a genre of music. I'm just one humble adherent.
I know about a few of the acts you speak about and they have been part of my inspiration.
Thank you for listening and commenting and for the great music you make that I enjoy very much.
Hey GoldenOokami, very nice track! Has more of a "Smooth Jazz / House" feel to it. Luv the the overall ambiance of the track and it certainly has "Chill Mode" written all over it. I had read your blog stating you were holding a remix competition so I thought I'd check it out.
Not sure if I will have the time to compete, but if I can I would luv to do a remake of this track. My version would probably have a more "funkier / jazzier" feel to it. And with the openness of your synth pads, it leaves a lot of room for solo's, horns, ect.
I hope that I can find the time to re-do it properly before the deadline, however if not, it will still be very interesting to hear what the other artist on this site come up with. Wonderful tune and congratulations on what I'm sure will be a very successful competition.
Much appreciated brother man. This track is definitely a combination of genres. I'd love to hear your spin on it man. If not, I understand. Thanks again for your words. Cheers man!
What's up TeeGee? Wow! This track is kicking
up some dust! From one bassist to another, that bassline kicks ass! I know how some rock tunes seem to be "devoid of bottom", but that certainly was not the case here. The tune has a "Rock / Rap-ish" feel to it.
And I thought that it was a great all around
Production. Certainly one of my favs...
Hey man, thanks for listening, glad you like it. Yes, that bass sound is kicking ass, although I did not play it...it is bhunt who does that. I only play the guitar and do the mixing. However, we make sure in this band we got a good bass and drum sound. I like everything to be heard, like in a rock band ;) .
(Ooops hit the send button by accident lol) Hey Topvega I made this track my fav because I can see the potential of this really being a great tune with some minor alterations. Plus I really enjoyed "The Liveliness" of the song. Great rhythm guitar playing and I liked the "panning of the guitar" on the track. The drum track gave the song a nice lively feel.
My only advice would be, 1. Come up with a solid hook, 2.write another verse in which you can alternate from and 3. Add at least one musical change to the song.(since this is a pop song it becomes a bit redundant without a change of some sort...just my opinion). Other than that I think you have a great tune on your hands.
Yeah I have had that happen before. :-)
I am working on another verse as well as a change or two to break up the monotony. Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.
Hey JJ this track is bumpin'! NePaul's vocal
style reminds me a little of "Eminen", and I like the part of the hook "Welcome to the party of the have and have nots." Great musical production and great lyrical content. I enjoyed this track, very well done.
Hello Billy interesting track, from the infectious repetitive "melody," to the "serious" message of the state of delcine of
Human kind. The message (in the form of spoken word) urges all people to wake up before it's too late. Though I am not a religious buff, I do see and understand the
awful state of affairs that we are in globally.
Appreciate the feedback brother Dennel.
Yes i try to make music with purpose as much as i can.
And i find that spoken word works the best for me, just as great spoken words from the past from people like Martin Luther, JFK, Mandela and the late Muhammed Ali still resonate in our lifetime.
Kingdoms will rise, and kingdoms will fall, but do not be troubled. Be the best that you can be. God bless u bro.
This is a interesting track, it does the listener the feel of "reviewing" their past in thought. Love the warm organ to set the mood and for a sec the guitar low in the mix kinda reminded me of the band and tune (Big Country).
And the closing of the track with the "big drums" was very nice touch. My only critique of the track would be the long intro, which was something like 1:19? Don't know if you're planing on putting "vocals" to the song at some point. Other than that, a unique and very well put together track.
Hey Format what's up man? I just had to return the luv, I see you joined the site about a month ago. So let me officially welcome you to Looperman, just have to say I'm really, really digging this track! Luv your "Smooth Poetic Approach" to the song. And the musical arrangement and feel gives the track a nice "r&b flavor" along with the hip hop theme. Very enjoyable to listen to. Like to hear the mastered / mixed version, and also I'm sure you have a longer version of the song.
Thank you Dennel, this site is unique and the best ive seen in terms of providing critiques from other artists and the ability to collaborate, so thanks for welcoming me. Thank you for your detailed and honest assessment of my music. This was one of those songs that was under the surface for many years. When i heard the beat for the first time it activated me and motivated this creation. The mix/mastering issue is the next challenge that I face in the evolution of my music. Thank you for listening and commenting.
Silverman you never cease to amaze me with the interesting concepts for tunes you come up with, and this certainly a prime example.
I have referred to this track as "Smooth Jazz With A Pulse." Very laid back vibe as stated with a disco-ish dance track. All the
the musical elements work very in this tune,
and it was simply a joy to listen to. "Red Shoes For Him? Red Shoes For Her? Or Red Shoes For The Rest of Us All? This track is just too groovy to pass up.
Thanks for your kind words Den. I just want to paint pictures and create feelings and spaces and places using sound. Sometimes it works sometimes not. Thanx for your comments.
A Biker You're Born, A Biker You'll Stay! (Lol! Love it!) Just a great job and wonderful musicianship by all participants involved. Definitely takes me back to the 70's psychedelic rock era. Conjures up movies like "Fritz The Cat", have I given away my age? lol, great song and Scott's vocal story telling style is great. Great music piece and certainly a instant fav for me.
Funk?? I'm afraid this is the wrong classification for this track altogether my friend. But with that being said I got more of a "Experimental" feel from this piece. Love the intricate, cartoonish-like banter of the tune, and the poly "synth" undercurrent percussion works well as an anchor to
all the complex melodies being played. I really like what you did at 2:42 of the tune with the switch up of synth sounds. Not for sure but kinda has that classic "Arp" sound.
I really enjoyed this track for it's originality and creativeness, very well done.
thanks for reading me the riot act on funk! weird is generally the safest bet for my stuff. I am happy you hear a cartoon-like banter because cartoon imagery is what I see with this one. I am actually looking for some art featuring bugs dancing to show with this track. thanks very much for the detailed comment. regards, Dan
Hey Dave my dear friend it has truly been awhile. And I see that your creativity is still in abundance; Wow what a great track man! Love that sifi-ish opening giving the impression that there some sort of inanimate threat that awaits us (though your discription gives a more peaceful alternative).
Then you hook us with your musical prowess, all the elements come together flawlessly. I love at 3:o6 of the song where you run the bass & guitar riff in unison, really nice! As always a master track by a master musician, great work Dave!
I've read a few comments about you "peaking" your levels on this track, perhaps you did it intentionally as part of the feel of the tune itself?
Hey Dennel thanks man! I really appreciate your kind words mate, while I did have a firm idea for this track I also had some new drum software (Rob Papen's Punch) which I had just purchased and wasn't fully conversant with it, of course this is no excuse for the bad levels but a few things did slip through my fingers in the mixdown, the distortion is intentional in the electronic background ambience but I overdid it for a few people's tastes....great to see you mate all the best Dave :)
Bravo! I read your "what you're listening to now" section, and I see we have some common musical interest. I am a huge Weather Report fan, and love Keith Jarred. And like "Zawinule"
I can hear his influence on this track for sure. Unlike alot of artist here on looperman who use the term "Fusion" so loosely, it's refreshing to hear a musician such as yourself who actually knows the true meaning of the term.
House or Trance? How about both? Hey Zac very nice track, very much enjoyed the festive atmosphere of this tune. the opening (though a bit long for a dance track) is a very pretty melody up until the more aggressive electronic synths kick in. A very pleasant and creative endeavor. My only criticism of the track is the long intro and that you killed the groove prematurely before the first break. The groove track kicks in at 59 seconds and ends at 1:24. I would have probably ran the groove a little longer before the break. But other than that the track is great and very enjoyable,
thanks sharing.
Trouse it is! I have to agree that the intro is too long. I've fixed this, and the groove ending too quickly, I'm just too lazy to render and mp3. Thanks for the kind words man. Glad you enjoyed it
Hey Orlando what a beautiful composition and great colab; all the elements work together so nicely on this track. Very pleasant / relaxing and certainly a track I wouldn't mind chilling out to.
Hey Joe, I absolutely love this track! Great Job! I have to agree with Silverman on making the Kraftwerk connection. You hit the nail on the head with the description of the track. It is relaxing and tinged with a Little darkness; love your "German Spoken Word" throughout the song along with the atmospheric elements that really gives the track a sense calm and mystery. I too sing in a similar fashion sometimes depending on the nature of the song, hence "Strange Days" & "BlueTooth Killer On The Lose".
Once again, outstanding job Joe I really enjoyed this track
thanks for your friendly words. I really enjoyed your comment and i am happy that you like what i have done.
I listen to your songs and i can say that i also enjoyed the listen to them. Special the Strange Days one is great stuff.
Hey SG87 great job! Very creative and a nice use of the loops.
I see how you build the track around the vocalist track. Not sure what ReonN was referring to about the "vox" disturbing him? I thought you executed what you wanted to do flawlessly.
I also liked how you ended the track, the same as you opened it.
Wow I am impressed, this track was recorded ten years ago? You
must have remixed / remastered the track because it sounds very "clean" and "recent". Very nice guitar work on this tune;
you're a fine guitarist. I got more of a "Gary Glitter" with a harder edge feel from this track. Love the constant panning of the guitar throughout the song. And I like the change at about 2:09, as well as the havoc being reeked at the end of the track. Very originally and still can't believe how great the track sounds having being recorded ten
ago; great job...
Just had a check as I have a load of old CD's out at the moment being moved and it's 2002. Mostly making guitar loops using a now defunct programme made by DATA BECKER. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_Becker
Thanks for stopping by. It was a lot harder to do this stuff back then but just as absorbing.
Thanks to everyone else too I can't reply to everyone now and to be honest I doubt many would see it if I did.
"Great Production, Great Subject Matter = Great Track!" Hey Zac, great job man. I enjoyed this song from start to finish, I hear the R&B flavor there but also "Pop". Very nice vocals and arrangment; and because of your accent (which I'm unsure of) it gives the tune it's own distinct sound. A clean professional sound and overall great feel, very well done.
I'm sure you much like myself must find it very frustrating when other artist listen to your track and do not leave a comment. To me I take that as a personal sign of "disrespect" to the artist who took the time to create the work. Even if you do not like the work, you can still post a comment and give constructive criticism. I have always made it a point to post a comment after listening to a artists work because it's just the right thing to do.
