IMO this sounds super polished. Don't think I'd change a thing, except for maybe taper off a little more slowly at the end to get more of a gradual zoom out feeling. The vocals and the synths both sound amazing and they sound great together too.
I really hope ice house catches on. I'm liking it! That intro synth captures the sound perfectly I think, with that touch of digital distortion to give it that crystalline sound. I think there needs to be a club made completely of ice where ice house could be featured. I really love your breakdowns/drops with that offbeat bass. The melody is really cool too. Your mix is nice and bass heavy and I think adding a little more to the high end would reinforce that ice sound. The mids could also be taken back a bit. Some of those pad sounds kind of overpower other elements. I'd love to do your competition too but I'm completely swamped right now. I might do something ice house-ish later in the winter though. Nice work!
Wow. Truly and epic record! I totally second the motion for a remix competition on this one. I really wish there were another verse or two but its awesome as is. Production wise it sounds great. It kind of reminds me of Pendulum's later stuff.
Thanks for the kind words, D! :) As I told Sik, I hope I can get the stems for the song but my computer is acting up. Glad you stopped by for a listen!
I love the intro, and how you changed the timing of the melody slightly. I'm not a fan of the drop though. To me, it feels disconnected and doesn't fit. Just my $.02
Wow. This seriously creeped me out and gave me chills. Nice job! How did you process the vocals? They sound so cool and I want to learn your technique.
Thankyou D3RELICT
Nice to know that you liked my work.
Ok, this is the way i done the vocal thing.
(I am not sure if i realy have any technique at all)
I work wit Magix Music Maker. Everything that isn“t a vst is "inbuild" stuff.
1 i made a easy "counting-out rhyme" that i wanted to use as refrain.
-- i piched it 7 tones up
-- i used a guitar stereo reverb on it
-- i used a chorus - quad low cut - slow speed - no bass at all
-- i used the Nubi3 vst Spinner and set it on - Panner
2 i recorded the vocals
-- i used the EQ to make a "Phone" sound
-- i used voice reverb - Main Hall
3 i duplicated parts of the vocals and placed them between the org vocals
4 i dublicated the refrain and place it a few times in another row
5 i used some vocal parts in another row on the "empty" places in the timeline
(so i had 3 rows - 1 vocals and refrain - 1 refrain on parts - and this 1 - together the timeline had at all places sounds. on some places 3 on others 2 and on others 1 sound)
6 i used the Spinner vst on that row where only vocals where on - i set it to Deep Chorus
7 i used EQ on the row with only refrain for "Phone" sound
8 i used the "Dasample" GlaceVerb vst and set it on 59FX Spectral Wind - on all 3 rows
9 i used the mixer for volume of the 3 rows and then
10 i mixed the 3 rows with all the FX into one stem - READY :)
I'm not really a horror fan but I love all sounds dark and grimy so this definitely something up one of the many dark alleys I frequent.
Two things I like in particular about this track is that glassy lead synth and the drums. That synth has just the right amount of space and reverb. The percussion sounds are just excellent although I would have put them slightly more forward in the mix. They're sort of shrouded by all the bass and fx. But maybe they work because they're cloaked in the darkness of the sound.
Either way, very well done! I hope you have more like this coming down the pipe because this is a sound I think I need more of.
D3RELICT, How are you? I apologize for such a late reply. Busy days, my friend.
I love the horror. The campier the better, if you ask me. The dark sounds are something that I've always really liked too. I guess it sort of goes hand in hand.
Thanks for the compliment on that glassy lead. It's one of my own creations. I like to create all my tracks from as close to scratch as possible. So hearing that my synths are turning out good makes it worth the work.
You may be absolutely correct about bringing the drums forward. As much as I love the electronic music, my first love is death metal. A genre that's heavily guitar driven. A lot of times, the drums sit further back. I think 35 years of listening to metal kind of programmed my ears to pay more attention to the bass and lead sounds. The next piece I do like this one, I will definitely keep your suggestion in mind. Thank you for the suggestion.
As far as more like this coming down the pipe. I can guarantee you there will be more. I don't know if you've already listened or not, but my "Twas Brillig (Slithy Tove Remix) is kind of similar to this. It's not as dark or horror driven, but it's really bass-y, has a heavy beat, and pretty spacious. Check it out if you haven't already.
Thanks again for the kind words, and suggestion. I'm glad you enjoyed this one.
It sounds pretty nice. Drums are really punchy and crisp, highs and mids sound fine. Honestly I think the sub needs more impact. I feel like all of the energy in this is in the highs instead of the lows. That's not necessarily a bad thing but I know I prefer more energy in the bass frequencies.
Thank you D3RELICT for your continued support, also thank you once more for taking the time to listen and comment . I really appreciate the input. Hope all is well with your life. Stay blessed n stay tuned! -EazyBeatz :)
The beginning of this is really sounding tight. It has everything a great song should have. The part around 2:08 where it breaks down could have a little something else. Overall love it. Great work!
Very nice melody to start. A good vibe you have going. Then at 1:45 it changes entirely and then works back around to the melody. Nicely done! That drop also sounds great. A well put together, nicely polished track you have here. Good work!
Like others have said I would say to bring the volume down. Love all the detuned synth sounds. Other than it being a tad loud, great track! That bass melody is really tickling my eardrums. Keep it up!
I really love this. Really cool musical things are going on here. Beginning is ethereal yet grooving. Then at :47 that key/chord change is really cool. It reverts back to the beginning and then slows down to a stop, then reverses the guitar and comes back in stronger than ever. I love all of the reversing that goes on in the ending. I think that this would sound better with more dynamic contrast between the beginning, the break, the slowdown, and the end. It would really increase the intensity and take this song from good to great. Nice job overall! A pleasure to listen to!
"I think that this would sound better with more dynamic contrast between the beginning, the break, the slowdown, and the end. It would really increase the intensity and take this song from good to great."
Can't do much about it now, but that is something that I will keep in mind in future tracks, and something that I often overlook. Thank you, truly, for the feedback. Honesty is all I want.
I think you've found a combination that works really well- jazz metal. I think the world needs more of this. I really enjoy the juxtaposition of the swing rhythms and the dark metal elements. The horn also is really nice. Another great song by StaticNomad. Well done!
Yes, more dark swinging stuff could be just what the world needs. Maybe it will improve us as a species and encourage the aliens to finally make first contact with us:
"Hey, we were just waiting for you to make some really cool, dark swinging jazz metal before we accepted you into our universal club. Congratulations".
Jazz and metal are hard things to successfully combine and I'm not sure I've heard many people even try. Some that I have heard has been on the bizarre, weird, avant garde experimental side of things. But my music is nothing like that. There is one group that does really creative metal on top of a fast, swinging bass and drums platform. But their style is nothing like this one. It's also not bizarre, weird or avant garde.
They're called Diablo Swing Orchestra and their album The Butcher's Ballroom is well worth checking out.
I love that synth horn sound and find it quite evil. But a good type of evil, if that makes sense. So, the mischievous, playful devil rather than the nasty brutal one.
Thanks for you thoughts. I have no idea if I will make more jazz metal but it'll probably happen sometime. Many more genre crossovers to work on before then.
Here's a recent creative, very alternative metal track I made in honour of Looperman's Valvedriver. It's called Valvedriven:
I like it. The sound evolves very nicely. The chords and harmonies you have here are really top notch. Everything about this is very clean and professional. Keep up the good work!
Thought this one had some really interesting rhythms, especially at the beginning. I love the way that drum bounces between the stereo channels in the beginning. Personally, it was a bit disappointing. I think that it could have built up a bit more. I really like the place it goes to at 2:45 but I think it could have reached that sooner and gone up from there. Other than that, it sounds very clear and professional. Nice work!
Thanks for this comment. I just changed a bit this tune due i uploaded a old version lol. Basically the tune is less loud and there are extra cymbals near 1:32 min
Like the feel of this track. I really could have gone in a totally different direction from the way the bass and drums were sounding. I wasn't expecting that chill little melody to come over the rest of the pretty aggressive sounding track. Personally, I would have gone with a more aggressive melody, but I like the result. Very good stuff in all.
Like those sounds. It took me the whole song to realize that the voice was saying "clockwork" instead of "awkward". Sounds like Hans Zimmer joined Ratatat and then they went to Ibiza! Very Nice.
An interesting amalgamation of sounds you have here. The beginning sounds like some older Benny Bennassi/Cooking for Pumpkin house, the middle sounds like big room, and the end sounds kinda like BTSM. The little ending bit is probably my favorite part. You should have used those sounds throughout the track. Nice job though!

I like that haunting little melody that runs throughout.
1:43: the drop is really interesting and works well with what you're trying to accomplish-that vocal like sound also works really well
2:07: that guitar sound is really nice and makes it that much more intense
Very nice job. You convey your message rather well. Full of meaning and emotion.
