This one 'emoted' many things, to me. Somehow you did what my guitar player and I have tried to do for years, squeeze every drop of an idea and sculpt it. Good job. And as far as the vocals thing,,it's your take, so all that matters is what your intent was and is. Keep em' comin' 'evisma' DDCdogood
This is really good mate. Love the bit where it speeds up and the bass goes really crazy. Nice blend of instruments nice time changes and good quality sound.
You also break it down niceley with the strings and drums.
This was a nice track to wake up to.
FR
This is like a Scottish anthem from a bass perspective. Nice work. Always moving providing some interesting bagpipes to add to the flavour, and then it ends. too short.
A Scottish anthem? But I'm Dutch/Irish!? What do I do now?
The "Too short" thing is an issue I've had lately. I get something recorded that I consider good, then get nervous about adding something to it in fear of marring it.
Yeah....bagpipes....I`ve used them (at least loops & samples) in quite a few Celtic type mixes (not posted on the Loop) evisma....I`m diggin your musical imagination here....and actually the whole thing sounds pretty friggin good to me my friend....you should dust that Squier off more often and give it a little love...It`ll give it back....good rock going on here and I enjoyed it...not sure what you would want to change but I think its just fine as is....If I had to get everything perfect I would never have anything to post.....keep on....Ed
Lol Dude, this song is freakin kick ass and u know it. By far my favorite from u and a little secret for just u and i..., I been listenin to it in the shower! ...don't judge me, guy code! lol
I loved the first 20 seconds, but when that bass comes in at the 1:20 mark, I start drooling all over, hahaha. There is absolutely nothing to critique here Evan, the mix is solid, transitions are well done, and that bass line is like candy....
Added to favorites my friend. I wouldn't change a thing. I hope all is well.
Evan. What's happnin'? I like this. It's a good, high energy track. It's fast paced, but not busy.
One of the things I like about your work is that you have a signature sound without it becoming a one trick pony. You're able to keep it inventive and new with each track.
The only thing that I think it's missing is a low end, galloping bass from :20-:35 and again from :52-1:07. That's it, though.
Word up. I'll take that reverse cymbal dedication. I don't hate the one used here, actually. It's the one/s Crucethus always uses that really wind me up.
Need to get some more reverse stuff in my own music eg reverse guitar. Must get round to that. But no reverse cymbals!
Yes, first 20 seconds do sound friggin good. The rest sounds almost exactly like Bjork.
Drums right from the start sound great. Busy and groovy but not too much going on. Sounds like there's some extra percussion in there.
This track has a really quite big, full sound so you're layering stuff up nicely. Doesn't sound like mostly just bass.
1:08 caught my attention. More low end than before.
1:16 some bouncing bits of guitar?
1:23 change also stands out.
I guess the pad is at 1:40 but it's very low in the mix. Some people might not even notice it.
1:56 lead makes me think of one-finger-on-the-keyboard arpeggiated synth rave leads. Not sure I like it but it's a different sound for you.
Overall, I though it was actually a decent length. Very busy and always changing but also returning to some prior themes. The main thing is not to get boring and I don't think it ever came close.
I'm unsure quite how a whole album of your tracks would sound as the similarity in sounds might get a bit samey. Maybe someone who regularly downloads and listens back to your tracks can tell us.
P.S. I'm recommending these guys again to you cos I believe you'll be impressed with the bass-as-guitar trickery. Maybe they'll let you in the band on lead bass.
Royal Blood - Little Monster - Later... with Jools Holland - BBC Two
Your fascinating link gives me "The uploader has not made this video available in your country".
What, did you not check it from MY end, before dangling it in my face?! How hard would that really be!?
Bjork,... good,... you know how much I like Bjork,... that's what I was going for, and knew only you would spot it. A keen sentry.
Again, the drums are thanks to you. Got a new metal kit with an upgrade package so that's the kit I'm using.
Did quite a bit with the Squier. Learning to play it softly. Still feels very unnatural.
Pad and synth have change. Pad is louder and more involved. Synth is now un-gated bagpipes. Who knows how long it will stay like that, but I've been wanting to use bagpipes somewhere. Not the best V.I., but it'll do for free.
A whole album would only be appealing to bassists, I believe. Tony Levin has solo stuff but he has great musicians with him.
Thanks again for the awesome feedback. Let me know if my bagpipe outro isn't Bjorky enough.
Interesting and well performed track! The tone of the bass and guitar compliment eachother well. That part around 1:30 is just awesome, as are all the parts where the speed of the rhythm is increased, sounds amazing! It was over too soon!
Nice groovy Track,:)
the change around 1:30 is a Highlight (nice Groove),I am of the same opinion as locatednowhere, Vocal“s would be great.I think a Guitarsolo also could be usefull:)
Good Work Mate!All the Best,
DRO
Warm welcome for your latest song (and for you)...we didn't talk for a while...but now...stunning track with full of groovy and pro class bass as usual...critique?...only 1 from me...get that part from 0.20 to 0,35 more times to the song...cause that was the reason I was throwing my head far away and I'm still looking for it...:-9
Love that change at around 1:30, nice. I used a squire for a couple years, as long as you add some compression and some effects they sound decent enough.
Is that a reverse reverbed hi hat hit on the intro, very cool? I like the chorus change, the guitar does it's job pretty good there. Cool track, great bass playing as usual!
Ah, yes. Fender Squiers. Bought a lefty for my lefty wife and the thing sits in my music room and stares at me. Sad, really.
My problem with the Squier(besides being a right handed individual), is how light a touch is required. Being a bass player, I'm used to squeezing the shit out of the strings. Do it with the Squier and it all gets a bit "wonkey". I tuned several times and deleted several goes on guitar because of squeezing it sharp.
can't say anything negative... great guitar work and bass lines... maybe you should consider adding some vocals.. that will make the track complete and perfect =]
Great job evan, I like how everything goes together and normally I don't hear many rock tracks with the sax so that's kinda interesting. Some parts feel more like hard rock to me which is cool and I like it ;)
I have one question, is the guitar something you played or not ( I don't mean the bass guitar I mean the other) or maybe there is only a bass guitar and I just mistake it for more then 1 guitar haha.
If not then where did the sound come from since I like it very much ;d
I'm glad you like this track, it's one of my favorites.
There is no six-string being played, everything is with the bass. I've made settings on my pedal that give me a higher feel without actually doing any pitch-shifting. No octave pedal or anything, I just made sure to buy a bass with 24 frets, so I can double the low stuff an octave higher while using the same strings, or use the high 12 frets for lead stuff.
I will always say whether or not I've used the guitar. It's a left handed fender squier so it's a bitch to use, so when I do, I'm kinda proud. Used it in "Four String Clover" and it sounds like crap. I just try to make the bass do it all since it's so versatile.
amazing work! the flow of everything is great! The tempo changes, the instruments going into the synths.. ahhh, relaxed me and made my head bob all at the same tim
Tim is a good man. He is so used to being bobbed at that he hardly even notices anymore.
Much like the Rain-God in the Hitchhikers Guide series who doesn't know he's a Rain-God, bringing the rain to all the land, no, he thinks that he is a delivery driver who has the worst luck with the weather since it's always raining where he's at. Everywhere he goes, rain.
Anyway, thanks for the listen, and tell Tim I said hi.
Hey Evan.
Good stuff here man.
I had to do a double take after hitting the play button, that sax intro took me by surprise. But Hell Yeah, some nice fat sound in combination with your Tool-ish bass lines. Some pretty slick tempo changes there in that first section too. But my biggest surprise was that last section around 2:50 where you settle into that mello groove that so reminds me of Panteras cover version of Black Sabbaths Planet Caravan.
TOTALLY dig that bro !
The sax is a bit of an oddity among my tracks, but I had the main line underneath and thought it would go well, and I was pleasantly surprised. I like the ending section as well, where the frequency slowly drops and the bass comes in with a sad regretful sounding line, then enforced with the low bass line. One of my favorites.
2:43 to 3:09. Everything that is being said by this piece is right there. That is the core voice of the song. Everything else, while nicely executed, is just the instruments "talking". Those few seconds are you speaking. Fucking brilliant, man. I've never downloaded loops for any serious attempt at building a track around them, but I'm more and more tempted to start scouring your bass loops to see if I can give them a worthy home.
I'm with you on the liking of the 2:43 to 3:09 part, but I'm guessing the manipulated MIDI female vocal afterward was a bit too much. I was REALLY enjoying the PB Wheel on my MIDI controller, and it stayed.
I don't know if you can do much with my loops, a few people have, but they tried to use like seven or eight of mine, and try to MAKE something work. I think one of my loops would work for people if it was just for small parts. Everything that I've heard so far has been discouraging. I feel like I did not give very useful loops and I'll probably try to do some different stuff soon.
im am some what new to looperman and wanted to say that i really enjoyed this track. Love the tool feel to it. Im going to try to put vocals to this one and will post with my finished results.
Thank you "Drumset-Scott", tell your friend "Guitar Playing Puppy-Scott" to check it out too, but I'll bet he's heard it before. Take care Scott, appreciate you stopping by.

My signature sound is from approaching the bass like it was a solo instrument, not supporting, I suppose. I suck at basslines.
I'll see if the old horse can still gallop. I've been working a lot so my hands are pretty tore up. The important fingers are still working!
Take care.
