TV I've had the chance to listen some other traX of yours & as someone who has had a progressive metal band in younger ages , I've always found :
1_your clean and fast licks & picking
2_your loOoOoOvely old effecT (Gtr)
soOoOoO REMARKABLE...
& selecT of this track for sharing with us , is another remarkable point of yours as I've discovered just rightnow...
many thnx for taking me back in memory for awhile , to those days of those old tapes & queens of the stone age ...
respects & best wishes.__Behnam
Thanks Behnam, those are very kind words. I appreciate the support. This track pretty much sums up what my favorite style of Rock is. My 3 favorite bands currently are Clutch, Queens of the Stone Age and Rival Sons.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and for leaving a comment.
Nice work....Some tasty licks going on here...
Recording Guitars is tricky, because efx or compression can
cloud the overall signal and change it's dynamics, some want that
sound and some got it, don't want it and can't get rid of it....
What I do is record all my guitars No efx... Just volume that way if
it sounds good with nothing on it, when you add candy it's even better...
As well the signal response in the track, stands it's own ground and
takes it's place in the track, in a clean way...
If you know all of this, then I'm spitting into the wind so disregard...
Thanks TG. I do something similar. I am a tone whore so I usually find a tone that inspires me at the moment and record a dry signal direct from my guitar through a VST like Guitar Rig 5 or Amplitube 3. This way I preserve the original clean signal. Then I start working a riff into a whole song. I will add Bass and a lead and then tweak the levels. Then I like to switch my sound presets to other tones if anything I have doesn't sound good enough. Then once I have decided on my tones for all instruments I apply Iozone 5 to my Master and then go into each track and solo them and tweak their signal with a 5 band EQ. I then start adding the tracks together and listen for clashes and or deficiencies. I keep tweaking till I have it sounding good.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and leave a comment. I appreciate it.
Thanks Orlando, the words of support are very kind. I am still tinkering with my style and trying to refine it but I am pretty happy with it on this one. I love trippy guitar leads. :)
Thanks again.
Well...as you know I'm a big fan of your style when rock genre is in question, so this one is another reason for having a big smile on my face again...thank you for that.:)
I am glad I could put another smile on your face and really appreciate the very kind words of support. It really means a lot. Glad you gave it a listen and liked it.
I seem to be having the opposite problem to you. Signed off work with far too much time and not enough money. Anyway, this is sounding like a solid bit of rock music. It doesn't matter that theres no lead because the rhythm is fat. Niceley blended with the bass and the drums which are also very good.
You should tell UPS to stick it and make more tunes because i for one am enjoying your style.
FR
Right on Bro...I would love to tell UPS to stick it. If it was a 9 to 5 job I could tolerate it, but they force the OT down your throat. I agree most of the song holds up without a lead guitar. A couple parts need something. Either a tasty guitar lick or an Organ/Keyboard. Appreciate you giving it a listen and leaving some feedback.
Very potent guitar and bass duo you've played here! Really jammin tone on both! The bands you have mentioned in your replies are either unknown to me, or I stopped listening to them a long time ago, so it sort of sounds like a fresh style to me. A singer might even take away from the talent and focus in the other instruments. Anyway, really fun rock track! I dig it!
Well fresh is always good....:) I get what you are saying about a vocal on this. I think because I can't sing my lead guitars are usually what I fall back on. It's why they are usually long and front and center. lol. Thanks for giving it a listen and for leaving a comment. Appreciate the support.
I hear Clutch in a lot of your stuff. Always solid guitar and basses with your tracks. You need a singer to help break up the repetition in places but I'm sure you know this.
Overall, another solid one from the screamin demon.
Guilty as charged... :) I am a huge Clutch fan. Been for years now. Them and Queens of the Stone Age have been my two biggest influences. Last couple months I have gotten heavy into WolfMother/Andrew Stockdale and Rival Sons. Rival Sons especially. What a great band. Thanks for taking the time to listen and leave a comment. It is appreciated big time. I agree with the vocals. I hear lots of good vocals in my head but have been unable to execute them in a real world environment. :D
MMmmmm tasty :D What kind of poo is in the sandwich? Cow, camel, dog, elephant?? Like the heavy guitar tone :D reminds me of the later Black Sabbath stuff with DIO.
Lol...it's a virtual smorgasbord of shit. All that you mentioned and more. :) Thanks I worked a bit on the tone of the Guitars and Bass. Was trying to pay homage to Wolf Mother and the whole Old School Black Sabbath, Led Zep, AC/DC thing.
Thanks for the listen and the kind words. Much appreciated.
Thanks DRO....if only i knew Brian and could get him to do some vocals...:) I have been listening to a lot of Wolf Mother and Andrew Stockdale lately. This was kind of inspired by them, but there stuff sounds a lot like Classic Rock. So it all works out. :D Thanks for giving it a listen and for leaving the kind words of support. It is greatly appreciated.
Thanks Danke, I am a bit of a Tone Whore. Sometimes I spend way too much time trying to tweak the tone of my Guitars and Bass. :) I appreciate the kind words and your taking the time to listen and leave a comment.
I liked this a lot so I played my Native American style flute to it. Best I could do cuz I can't sing. I had a blast! Makes me want to listen to your other tracks and see what comes up. Check out my profile tracks to hear it. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it...I gave your track a listen last night and when I went back to comment today it was gone. Sounded like you had a good time though. Glad I got to hear it. Thanks for the kind words of support.
Groovy jammin rock track you've got here! The guitar and bass sit perfectly together! One thing I'd love to hear in this song is nice organ part, maybe with a short solo at some point. I just love organs, especially in rock music! Anyway, this is a really fun one to listen to! Interesting you called it "Sleep," I don't think my sleep usually sounds like this...heh. Nicely done!
Thanks Spiv. I agree a cool Organ would be a nice addition. I have vacay coming up 2nd week of June. Maybe I can sit down and try and add some. What's funny is I don't remember why I named this one Sleep. lol I must have named it early on and it stuck. Thanks for giving it a listen.
Awesome track topvega! All the elements you used blended together perfectly and created a great blues track. The mix sounds pretty good too. I really enjoyed listening to this. It's a Fav. Nice work.
I came home from a younger brother`s funeral a number of years ago and sat down with the guitar and a recorder to do the same thing tv (he was many times the guitar player I will ever be)...when I listen later.. like your tune...it is not really sad....just carries the emotion of the moment (and there are many)...music does indeed have therapudic value (I`ve used for that purpose most of my life)...Condolences on your loss tv..I know there are no words that really provide comfort...yet we try to convey what we can.....all the best...Ed
So sorry for your loss. I know what you are going through having the same situation several years ago. It gets easier as time goes by, than the wonderful memories will linger on.
Thanks Scott. Appreciate the kind words. It does get a bit easier overall. There are time though when the pain is just as bad as in the beginning. Thanks again.
wowww ! this was superb !!
I didn't expect a proff driver to be a prof rocker too !
what a good guitar you've played in it !
but what sort of collab you mean ?
this is perfect !
Elena :)
Thanks for those extremely kind words. I am always looking for vocals on my tracks but i can see your point as I I tend to use a lead guitar for the vocals. I think it comes from my inability to sing :D Thanks again.
Jammin tune hear my friend! I am especially fond of the lead guitar part, very expertly played! The drums really do give a Zep feeling. I like the part around 5:25, that change in progression is sweet! I'm listening on headphones, so it's a bit difficult to give any real opinions on the mix. I would say I'd like to hear a little more low end, but that's just personal preference. A fun one to listen to for sure! I dig it! Fave!
Thanks for the kind words Spiv. Appreciate you giving it a listen and for leaving a comment. I need to go in and clean up the mix and maybe add some low end.
I`m with you on the whole idea of doing a new take on the band`s sound but doing your own thing at the same time (easier said than done)..this one nails it..my younger brother got into Zep before I did (I was drooling on Steppenwolf) but they were great...on that widening the mix thing tv...if you are making room for a vocal in the middle/up front..it may be an idea...If the lead guitar bits are to carry the melody I would be more inclined to actually do the opposite..take a little reverb off (or set a long pre-delay on the guitar`s reverb.) and get the lead a bit more in front of the band...It a dam good rock tune tv...my day is off to a good start...right on...Ed
Thanks for those tips Ed. I might remix the lead and put it more up front since I don't have vocals. Appreciate you taking the time to give it a listen and commenting.
Nice piece of rock music. Particularly like the use of the guitar harmonics and the chorus effect.
This is a bouncy and uplifting piece of music.
Well worth listening to.
Keep it up.
