Good tribute to one of the best bands ever.
And as pointed out by others, this has a "vague" Zep taste but it is original: this is jamming with 70s spirit in the 21st century :-)
Liked it (as usual with your tracks).
Ciao, Domenico
PS: the riff with the minor 3rd reminds me a lot of the atmosphere of a Vinicio Cappossela's song (one of my favorite italian songwriters)
Thanks much Domenico, appreciate the support and the very kind words. Yeah I ran across the drum sample and it just felt like a Zeppish track needed to be done.
This is rocking Tv, your point of view in tribute has done a respectable representation. That guitar holds the two sides on the same team which is great. I can imagine the band jammin this at some local event, but I hear you and the difference works more than what would be expected. I believed it was an actual song from them, now I know the truth. Keep rocking it man and thanks for sharing. Peace.
Drum beats are good though perhaps they get a bit repetitive after a while. I like the change to the open hat.
1:52 trill is cool and groovy lead work.
You're right that this probably should be shorter.
I think you could maybe mix your lead playing a bit better at times as it seems a bit pushed back in the mix. Try EQing it a bit. I also use a lot of stereo widening effect (the same Cubase plugin) on my guitar parts, which can make a huge difference.
I don't put it on every single guitar part but I generally try it out to see it will help.
Not much to fault with the playing here. I think you should try to cut the track down by something like a minute or two.
However, if this were a live gig, the length would probably be fine. People would be grooving to this.
Will give the stereo widening a try on my lead parts and see how it works, Thanks for the tip. No doubt it needs to be shortened a little bit in the middle somewhere.
The drums are a sample and are what set the tone for the track. Once I heard them I had a Zepp Levee breaks vibe in my head.
Appreciate the kind words and the input. Will give it a try and see where I get with this.
Listened to this whilst i was getting ready and it had me banging my head whilst i was getting dressed.
Aside from the beat and the tempo it's not like the original, but it does have that classic rock sound that Jimmy Page used to make.
It's a great track but if you could find someone to add a few vocals it would be even better.
That aside, it's a flawless piece of guitar playing that's been well mixed and well thought out.
My first track of the day and it's a blinder!
FR
Thanks FR, the drum sample is what set the tone for this track. Didn't want to rehash something Zeppelin already did. Wanted to capture that vibe and energy in something new.
Thanks for the kind words and for taking the time to listen.
Very good job, especially on keepin it original. Most tribute songs are covers so its pleasurable to see some creativity and originality. Now if they could only grasp that concept in the cinema/movie industry. :)
Thanks bro, yeah I didn't want to just do a cover. Wanted to try and capture the spirit from my musical point of view.
Appreciate you listening and leaving a comment.
Well...if someone like live sounded rock music, it could be one from the winner...Drum nearly sounds like in the great years and this jammin tone is a good rememberance that those biggest bands played like in the same mood and feeling...colab request is for vocs? If yes, hope you find some strong and learned voice...:-)
God,...I love your rock style ! I hardly describe it with words, but there's always something basic and primal, yet very sublime and dignifying in your sound and this one is no exception!
I can feel the BOC vibe. Didn't really realize it till you said it but no doubt. I was just trying for something a bit dark and odd but still Rock. Thanks again.
I can't speak to your "wah wah" technique, but I do know you've rocked this tune out!! I love it, and I respectfully disagree with CNIC....this is definitely ROCK. Well done!
Very smooth tune! Sound like "classical" rock i think. Zero "agressivity", pure rock. I can listen to songs like this for long periods of time. Really worth a good vocal i think. GJ!
Thanks traz, appreciate you listening and leaving a comment with some kinds words. I tried to keep the lead guitar calm and soothing to contrast the harder rhythm guitars. Glad you liked it.
you`re reminding me of that old rock feeling Topvega....if it aint rock it aint music...my tastes may have mellowed a lot but the straight up rock & roll done guitar band style always rings the bell for good times...good stuff..not intended as a criticism (I enjoyed the listen big time) but if you backed off the hard limiting a bit (or used a softer knee) I think the lead guitar dynamics might pop a little more....keep on man....Ed
Thanks for the tip Ed, I will give that a try. Kind of you to give it a listen and for leaving a comment. Every time I think my tastes are mellowing a bit I seem to find a new band that reignited that hard rock vibe in me. Latest has been WolfMother. Thanks again for the kind words.
Taking me back to my youth! Just the kind of thing I loved to rock out to. It would be a perfect road trip song LOL just add a few vocals to sing along at the top of your lungs cruising down the road.
Thanks bro...I am still learning it. I don't know how to do anything fancy with it yet but someday. :)
I never thought of myself as a Jazz Player at all but I would certainly be willing to give it a go. I have vacation coming next week so I will have some time to work on stuff. Hit me up at TopVegaMusic@gmail.com.
Thanks for giving my track a listen. It is appreciated.
Tracks like this make me wish I knew how to play the keys. I would take from 1:54 to 2:03, extend the hell out of it and go all Jon Lord on the Hammond. I could hear the Pink Floyd/Beatles influence, but I heard more Z.Z. Top and Deep Purple in it. Either way, I liked it, man!
Thanks V, Happy Holidays to you as well. Xmas was good his to hoping the New Year is as well. I can hear the ZZ Top for sure. My sating it is Beatles influenced is do to the lyrics I wrote but never recorded, due to the shitty voice thing. Lol. :) I also like your idea about expanding the vibe and riff at 1:54 to 2:03. My keyboard skills are very limited, so an expanded keyboard thing is not in the cards unless I get better or someone who can actually play piano/keyboard collabs on it. I want to thank you for taking the time to give it a listen and for leaving a comment. Feedback is always greatly appreciated.
Loved. I really like your style.
This song reminded me a bit of the cure late 90s albums.
I could almost envision Robert Smith singing on it, but with his "deep tone" voice (something like "club america").
Again... totally loved it!
Ciao, Domenico
Thanks Domenico....very kind words that fuel my drive to keep doing this. I really appreciate the support and your taking the time to check out my track and for leaving a comment.
Ancient power and glory in the desert with 3 or 4 long haired hippie...:-)
Always like your naturalism and instinctivism...
Question is that do you use cutting before mix or not?
Best, Danke
Thanks Danke...not sure what you mean by cutting? I usually record my takes and then if there are spots that need cleaning up I will punch in where needed. After I get my takes to where I like them I will start EQ'ing each track. Fine tuning tone and smoothing out any conflicting frequencies.
