Thank you Vicen, with a complement like that I'll most certainly do more as my callouses return!
Hey,one of your songs are being featured right now...let me scroll back up...ah,El Mayor Espectaculo del Mundo...I'm on my way.
Very nice guitar playing and great feel comin out from your track, mixing hope and melancholy.Honnestly,I think you should record it without the beat cause it doesn't really serve the whole atmosphere but that's just my opinion
Great track anyway
Cheers
StÃÂphane
Thank's StÃÂphane.I had to edit my reply because I read your review again today and did not thank you properly for your kind words,i'm guilty of the whole not seeing the forest for the trees thing. The technicalities is not nearly as important as you hearing the emotion I felt in playing it and the intended atmosphere,I agree with you and will probably record it again as it was very enjoyable.
Thank you again for the comment.
Update again,I did take out the drums and you were definitly right StÃÂphane...it works better
Thanks,
Allen
Nice job Allen, you should def record more acoustic songs. I just love acoustic guitar music, like you said, no effects to hide behind or rely on, this really shows your talent. Very pretty song, quite enjoyable!
Thank you Wayne, your reviews mean a lot.It was kinda an experiment with my little recorder and now that I know it works well with the acoustic I will do more of it.Hey,are you still feelin like crap?I guess at your age...Oh my...and next Saturday is what?I wish you a good one!
I gotta see if my cholesterol is down tues. The dr asks if I'm eating better and I say yea,yea,yea...sure doc.
Man those guitars sound sweet. Lovely melody and chord progression, reminds me of a Yes or Steve Howe track from the 90's (not a particular song, just that era). Personally, I'd get rid of the electronic beat and have real sounding drums instead.
Thanks Fingers,I know it aint all bad with the mention of those guys.Glad you brought the beat up,I tried to change it after the fact and had a ton of problems...and also a lack of knowledge.Bigger drums also made me want to grab a bass and it started to sound cool, just not the same song,I do hear ya though...I am an old rocker and love real drum sounds.
thanks again.
Allen
Friend its has been two weeks since we made this collab!
Not a day passes without at least a couple of times I listen to this track!
Really addicted to listen to, and I love to listen!
We made Epic collab,no doubt:)!
Had to have another listen of some more of your work. Beautiful string work there. Very clean sweeps. Awesome tone. Hope your not the plug and play types. That would kill me lol. Such sweet tone. Has a Steve Lukather kinda tone. Kinda hollow but still maintains a good mid and highs. Just gave it another listen. It's just great to hear it. Got a Al Pitrelli vibe the second go. Really cool stuff. Great collaboration. I gotta check out Frenchkid's stuff aswell. Made my night. Cheers and thanks for the tune :D
Thanks again for listening to my tunes.I've said this before but never enough...I really do listen to the"song"when collaborating,it doesen't matter how many licks or how can I make it all about guitar. In this situation,I was the guest and as so I feel my role is to complement that song...even if it means playing just 3 notes...as long as it's the right notes all is good.In a nutshell,if someone says"this song sounds great"we all win...If someone says"song wasn't good but you sound great"then I failed,I coulda just done a 3min solo and not messed up the track cause it was fine before I came along. The tone complement is the same way...What works for this song...no one size fits all.
Did I say i'm glad you liked it:)
Allen
Great father and son collaboration. Your son has some great engineering on this. I tripped out when it slowed down and went kinda half time. Awesome guitar playing on your part man. Good crunch and some great highs on there. Zoom modules are always overlooked but some great industrial music has been made with them, and outside of industrial also. Goes to show talent cant be replaced by technology. Cheers to your son and you. :D
Thank you so much MCHN.My Son has a new baby now and we haven't done anything in a while but we will.Seems like yesterday when he was just a little looper! That Zoom pedal...we have a love hate relationship goin on.If i'm really careful and turn the right knobs it treats me ok but one wrong move and the sound is gone, people say"you use a Zoom?"and I say it's what I have and if you mess with it long enough you just might find a good sound there...just be sure to save the patch...twice.Thank you for the kind words.
Love it. Makes me feel as relaxed as I do when I smoke a ....... self rolled organically grown cigaratte or two. I like Frenchkid's tracks alot too. You two sound great together.
Gord
Thanks G.Frenchkid has some serious talent...glad we could roll this one up for you.
I hung out at your place for a while last night, great stuff.
Allen
Perfect man, to my ear anyway I wouldn't change a thing. I tend to like the piano alot though. In my opinion this will be a hit with the vocals done. Very crystal clear.
Take Care
Gord
Thank you Gordon,Maybe we can find someone for vocals.I really like 9Rhiters piano also and I don't play keys so it's nice that we can work together,Like I tell my grandaughter...play nice and always share.
Nice Allen, You and 9Rihter work well together. LOving the piano and killing that electric. That's how we do it in Plant City..lol...You definitely need to find someone to sing over this one...Production work and skills are spot on. You guys should do more collabs...great work guys, keep em coming...Blume :)
Thanks Blume,He and I seem to have the same eq thing goin'on at the time...helped a lot.I tried playing around town a bit but it doesn't work...good musicians in PC just nowhere to play and I aint drivin to Tampa so i'm happy on this site and nobody's asked me to play Freebird here...yet...maybe a remix:)
Still lookin for work...
Allen
I personally am also a fan of 9Rihter's work so i have to say excellent job on this song to both you and him. The piano and guitar compliment each other allowing for an excellent songe to emerge. Excellent guitar soloing as well.
Just awesome and I have to agree with NickQ, you're definately one of the best guitar players on this site.
If I could make a suggestion:, let Jim Tacatta in on this project – with his voice you would probably push me into orbit.
And if you'd like to keep it as it is, it's a great track anyway. Excellent work.
Thank you my friend, your complement means a lot and I'm very humbled by your remarks. If I must reply it would be that I have never said no to any style of music over the 36yrs i've played, regardless of my preferences and if you consider music as a gift then I feel blessed.Vocals would be great and I do like Jim's classic style.Oh yea,Cochise is a great song isn't it!
This is really a great track man, really impressed with both the guitar and piano!I also liked the way you guys closed out the song.I do have to agree that maybe the guitar could be just a little more prominent, but I'm no expert and I'm sure you just didn't wanna put out front too much.Great guitar playing!
Thanks Tacatta!9Rihter gets all credit for piano and everything but guitars.I did try raising the guitar after we posted and it just didn't work,it became a different song. The leads have a ton of delay that I can't take off now,my bad...lesson learned...and when you turn them up it sounds way too busy for this song.I almost didn't play any lead at all, just thickened it up,the piano melody from 9Rihter was so nice.when I got his track it was like Wow,how can I play with this and not change a thing! The short reply is your right,I didn't wanna put too much out front and I am not gonna sacrifice the song for my guitar.
Thanks again for listening and you should be doin'some more rockin'tracks...I wanna play guitar on Kashmir and i'm callin' it first!
Mate this is stunning, I am a big fan of Frenchkid, as he does lots of collabs with my mate here thehumps, this is so sweet ans relaxing, nothing more to say but brilliant and fav'd...Peace and respect my friend...Estefano...
Thanks Estefano.I really wanted to play to this and knew it would pull it a little more to the jazz side.I just played along to his great track, sent it to him...kinda introducing myself,so I was pleased he allowed me to post it!
It makes it easy to do a good job when you start out with great material!
Thanks again.
Allen
just had to tell you again. this is amazing. if possible show as many people this track. this proves your talent. no one can deny your skills after this one. its hot!!!!
Chase,I almost turned the computer off, then checked my email! Thanks for both awesome reviews!I play so much rock and Frenchkids song was a nice chance to jazz it up,I been over and reviewed some of your stuff and I love it,Strangled ins.is a nice one, gotta get back over there.Oh,and let me know if I can do anything for you.I like your style.
Very nice sounding song here. I like the piano backing part. The lead playing seems too far into the background to me. It was nice but needs to shine thru more as your playing sounded very good.
Nice jumpy tune and I enjoyed it.
Randy
Hey Randy, thanks!I'm glad you mentioned the guitar level,I really wasn't sure myself so I appreciate your ear.It really is a delicate thing to do and I fought with it.9Rihter has some great songs and an appreciation for guitar so I was happy do do this with him.
Nice crisp production, guitars and keys on this! Quite commercial sounding (in a good way) Seems to be screaming out for vocals to complete it! Nice job guys.
Thanks Jamie! Now that you mentioned it,vocals wouldn't be bad.9Rhiter had this produced well from the getgo I think, and it took a while for me to even hear past his moving intro!I did want to say that even before this I noticed his sound seemed to mirror what I've been getting from my guitar equipment lately and that helped a lot since he mixed his parts and I did mine, there wasn't a big contrast. It was kinda like we had a third member of the team.
Really enjoyed the track Allen, love the way the intro was done with the voice tracks and thunder!nice smooth guitar rythum guitar tracks with a guitar lead that I would swear it was Gorge Lynch of Donken playing ! nice work! The only thing I noticed that stuck out was the mid section of the tune was a bit long, maybe two to four measures or so,but other wise, rockin song guy!
with a kool concept!
Hey BM thanks for the review.Sometimes it's hard for me to measure part lengths when i'm smack dab in the middle of it and that's one thing these reviews are good for cause there's always gonna be a next time and you made the Lynch comment first anyway so i'm good. That awesome intro came from 9Rihter when I got his track and I must say"He had me from intro"...I couldn't resist:)
I know the instructions say "don't just say nice job when you review", but there's not much else I CAN say. Fantastic use of PianoSound's loops (and HMNN's as well), great mixdown, and superb guitar chops. All in all, one fine tune, bro.
Thanks Spyder.Yea,How many ways can you say it sometimes, and I appreciate it in any form. This was and is my first song created around the loops and I loved doing it,the process was the hard part for me(my son helped)but rewarding. Thanks for the mixdown comment,i'm finding that really is the hardest part, spec at 4 in the am!
