yeah, the numbers speak for it self here! very well done! great flow, with the right voice and lyrical idea, this is a rocket!
Keep it up, your on the right track!
Thank you Bm.I know we all as artists get in moods and for me the acoustic seems very specific with it's tone, and even though you can play different styles on it ,there is still a very organic feel and emotion that's hard to recreate on the elec...at least for me.
Thank you Jim and I'm looking forward to making some new music with you and Kikijon.
Oh, and that southern song was fantastic...and that's coming from a southern florida guitar picker.
Allen
Thank you Wayne,I appreciate you saying so.I do feel blessed because almost everything I would like to play on is already here, and that's ok cause i have my own selfish reasons...They're better at what they do than me:)
Hope your feeling well,
Allen
I think I left a review of this song on Spelljammers page, but I just wanted to let you know you rocked this one Allen. Superb collab for the both of you. Always diggin your chops.- Bilbozo
Thank you Bil.As a guitarist yourself you know that is one of the good things that comes from playing covers for so long..you kinda get the feel for a lot of different styles..like it or not. Every Sunday after the Casey Kasem countdown someone would hand me a tape and say"Here Al,learn em by wednesday" lol,but I do like this style.
Allen
Glad you liked it et.All the great artists here and their songs are making it easy for me but I'm gettin' lazy...Whenever I think about something original from just myself,I always find my idea already here but I am thankful to be able to play on these songs..and that is really what I want to do anyway..Play,so it's all good.
Nice and chill groove with a splendid clean guitar tone...a pro sounding piece....it's always a measure of a player's scope to be able to play on other people's material, what you've done here is tasteful with excellent continuity, fits like a glove...excellent work...cheers planet
It's a treat to have you stop by..pull up a chair!I am finding it very rewarding to do this planet as I only have so many ideas that I can realize by myself..I do get to live out some musical dreams through the help of all the talented people here.I can't say this enough..On someone elses material,I really want to complement the song and help make the other artist sound better,if I can do this then everyone wins.
It's all about the song and if someone likes the guitar parts i've added...I definitly accept the complement.
Thanks again.
Allen
Well I've always been a sucker for a funk guitar riff since year dot...great solid funk played how it should be..and that's played, with the emphasis on play not shaken or stirred..cool tight bass line as well..Funktastic!...cheers planet
Funk is fun isn't it!I have to thank you for the bass complement since it is not my main instrument..I do have to pick it like a guitar tho cause..well, thats what i do!
thank you for taking the time planet,I appreciate it.
Allen
Drive alonmg like a fast freight train. The sound is impulsive, cinematical, soundtrack feel. I love how you haven't overdone the guitar. Just enough to compliment the track and accompany the piano. It takes a keen ear to pull that off in spades...indeed you guys did. Great collab. - Bilbozo
Hey Bil.I got lucky here,9Rihter had this eq sound that matched up pretty well to my guitar. He had everything but guitar mixed and finished, just wanted to try guitars so that was the challenge. He sent me the mp3 and I had to layer around what he had done and couldn't mess with his individual levels so in a way it forced me to play it safe so I learned from this song and try to take that with me.one review wanted louder guitar but when I tried it just covered the piano and would ruin it,so big lesson learned...Don't sacrifice the song for guitars because in the end it's all about the song,
and I know you know this as you choose to complement your own songs as well...if we didn't we could just do a 4min solo...hmm..
maybe a loop of Eruption:)
thanks bil
Allen
Is this recorded direct or recorded via mic? Love the mood it onsets. Very crisp and clear tonal ambience. Love that fingerstyle...nothing beats a pair of hands that can do that ! Respect ! - Bilbozo
Glad you asked Bil,check out the tascam dp-oo8,it can run on 4aa bat. and ac,8 digtr. It has 2 built in mics...and this thing is little..utube has videos of it.I can't stand the electronics in this Washburn I have so I thought I would give the little mics a try and the reviews on this thing were right on for it's size and portability..I actualy do everything on it cause it will almost fit in your guitar case and uses sd cards.I don't have a laptop so I have to share puter time with the wife, and thats no way to make music waiting for her to stop chatting and playing on farmville or whatever lol...I love her but a mans gotta do...
The style came out of lazyness I guess..it's gpick and fingers. When I played out and we did an acoustic song I didn't switch guitars, just the way I approached the electric..but I have seen others play that way and I do that now on acoustic as well, there's just things you can't do tho.
thanks for listening Bil.
Allen
FFFFFFFFunkey Monkey ! Oh yeah am I ever digging this one. Chords stroke the funky bone. My 4 year daughter was in the studio doing the Harlem Shuffle to this one buddy ! Are you sure James Brown isn't really gone and living in your basement? - Bilbozo
Well thank you and your daughter,I have a 4yr old grandaughter myself..but don't tell anyone i'm that old..our secret.this tune is one of the few originals i've posted so you know where I get the most enjoyment.i've been meaning to review your blues song cause I hear a Neal Schon influence in there and I love the guy,Gotta add him to my influences.
thanks again Bil...I better go check on James:)
Allen
Smooth groovin stuff Allen. Whatta collab. I love that nice clean precussive clean tone and the jazzy blues chops bro. Sweetness at it's finest ! - Bilbozo
Thank you bil,Some of These collabs seem to help force me to not color outside the lines and that can be a good thing sometimes...especialy on tunes like this.I love van halen but I don't want to mix VH with R&B just yet...at least not on someone elses song...you could..but...
Thank you again bil
Hey Alen,Thanks for stoppin by and reviewing.
I love the samples you sent and soon you may hear them in a song but you can never have too many so bring em' on.
I'm glad to see you've put something new up. The track is very, very sweet. The guitar work is wonderful and the supporting instruments do their job perfectly.
Hey John! Thanks,I appreciate that you knew where I was going with this when you said sweet.Yes it's comfortable and no,there are no suprises but I found this song and thought it had a certain charm that really needed or at least I wanted it to..guitar.it just sounded fun with no risks and sometimes that's just what I need.
Thanks again John.
wow this track is amazing and i know its rnb but if you dnt mind i wanna see if i can put some rap lirics and see where this goes, is that cool with you man?
Hey man thanks, but it really belongs to J1K...he's on the site and even has a version without the guitars along with this one and some other great tunes as well so check him out.
Anything's cool wth me but he's the man.
Glad you liked the song
Allen
Wow, Allen, I totally dig your jazzy approach in this one. You have that smooth, warm tone (Gibson?) and clean quick rushes combined with really soft playing. That's how to play guitar for real – and I realize I've got a long way to go. :)
Excellent playing, just excellent.
/pmk
Update: Thank you, Then we should try one together. I've got this ska/reggae piece that could do with your skills. I'll try to get Jim to sing it too. Interrested?
You do not give yourself enough credit so I will do it for you.You are the king of guitar hooks and i think you found a secret hook book, passed down to only a few.I'm kinda all over the place but you make the riffs people remember. And I've said this before..it's not how many licks you can get in..it's gettin' in the right licks.
And as far as the tone,I play the tele in my avatar with a hot rails pu that is a double coil in the single slot...and I turn a lot of knobs :)
I forgot to thank you..and I do.
Allen
Of Course my friend..Tell Jim to pick up the beer and fill up the van...we're gonna need a lot of gas:)
Hey Mr Skillz, after that complement I might want to have a listen again myself. You know I may go into a song with just an idea and a guitar riff and let the song dictate it's self but it is hard to keep the funk out sometimes,I do love it...
Thanks for feelin' it,
Thanks for makin' me smile Salook.I do love old Prince,The Time,Isley bros..good old funky stuff.
I don't know much about production but for a novice i've found the less parts I have to mess with the better and just stick to guitar and let the other talented people on this site do the hard parts.I don't make beats but now I have looperfriends that do!
Thank you again,
Nice tune, happy vibe. The leads and fills sounded great, they fit the music perfectly! Nice tone to the guitar, really fit the feel of the song. Nice job J1K, cool track!
Hey Wayne! Thanks for the kind words.Sometimes you just don't want to worry about the next epic tune and just try to have fun and play smooth guitar...maybe epic is next week.
Has anyone thought about or have put together an all guitar jam song with different players on the site...maybe some blues where every one adds a little of their own guitar flavor?I know we all seem to have our hands full at the moment but just wondering if it's been done.
Maybe in the future. Thanks again Wayne
Oh yea,did you blow all those candles out,I know there were a lot of em'..or did they get you the two big numbers:)
Thanks Spelljammer.I like coolth and I'm gonna try to "break it down" for you this week, every time I get one idea I get another but it will come together!
yoooo glad u reviewed me man so i go to heck your stuff out. sick beats. especially this one. good sht. cant wait to hear more and i got some mc's that would love to write over somethin like this. u got some good guitar skills too. my kinda beat makin is when instruments are used instead of samples and copy paste. skills
Thanks a lot swiss,I have a version with a rap but never heard back from the guy,I pulled all but one lead out so to make room in the track but,hey...If anyone wants to take a shot at it..it was cool.
Thanks again for the review.
