man, moody-ass well-written pop songs like this just can’t come along often enough, so i’m glad to hear the five-year incubation period is over! the 54 have an awaiting fan.
Thank you so much. The funny thing is that I got sidetracked yet again! I bought land near Joshua Tree last summer and have been making a glampground with my daughter and her boyfriend, and what an adventure that has been. But I have continued to work on these songs, even though they're mastered, by cutting down the too-long ones and figuring out the right groupings. Seeing your comment will inspire me to get back to this uploading to the world business and get it done once and for all, because Sunny War is just amazing. She gave me a treasure when we did this work and i should share it with everyone.
Enorme pista que me ha cautivado desde el principio, tanto la composición como la voz solista e incluso los coros están perfectos. Merece estar arriba por su calidad y sentimientos. Muy bien producido amigo CitizenMofo2. Salud y paz para todos.
Thank you for the comment and the kind words! The other 54 are a panoply of music like the world has never seen. I mean heard. It is worth 5 billion dollars and I'm still hoping to collect. No, actually, I'm still trying to understand it all. Where does this stuff come from? What does it mean? Why was Sunny busking there on Venice Beach when I was walking by? Why haven't I dealt properly with this stuff until now? Mysteries, mysteries... I've posted a bunch of other songs from the Sunny sessions on here as well. If you want to check any out, maybe "The Beast" and "Something to Carry" would be good ones to start with. They're among my faves. Thank you!
Hey there - home from work so a chance to listen - this is a nice pop song - good lyric, vocal and music - it's probably just me but I would like to slow it down a notch - thinking what if it sounded more like eno producing james https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaK9pLh0hBk - go figure!
And btw thanks for commenting on my efforts ; )
Thank you! Sunny is the best, such a great artist and a wonderful experience for me as a songwriter. And I found her busking on Venice Beach, that's the best part.
What a great percussive tune. Lots of punch and original ingenuity. Some really tasty slide parts. Writing is outside of the box. Great job guys. I thoroughly enjoyed this to the max.
Thanks for the comment on my track. I like the lo fi sounding elements, very emotional track. Keep bringing that interesting element to LP its much appreciated, nice work.
Don't mind me citizen, i just had to come back to this amazing! piece of creative art here, this is seriously! done up to the nines, FABULOUSLY! dope/unique...like the vocals alot...This deserves so much love but it's ok, i got a lot of love to give to AWESOME! work/Music, so, here i am, once again....Love it...Anyone is lucky to work with you, you certainly have a keen ear, Maybe i should..lol...Anyways Keep up the FAB! WORK Citizen, it's so worth listening to your work.
Well, it seems that someone has changed her profile name. Whatever name you go by, young lady, I appreciate your comments very much. I found this vocal to be so magnetic - such a vulnerable doorway into the soul of the singer - that I had to try to set it, like the jewel that it is, in an appropriate setting. The music is very simple but I worked a lot on the vocal itself, cleaning up the noise, snipping off the beginning, and trying in general to make every word and note as clear as possible. And so I'm really happy that you have responded to it the way you have. I appreciate your comments a lot. I love your voice so much and your vocal doodlings and I hope some day to hear your own album or whatever it is that you aspire to.
Different, cool, interesting and well put together. Everything music is supposed to be. To me it has a dub/reggae feel to it, if you had pushed it more in that direction it could take on a whole new personality. Maybe even a transition(s) within the song from trap to reggae and back.
Thanks, Wayne! I appreciate your comment very much. Your reggae idea is an excellent one. When I'm messing with a vocal and trying out different trap tracks, or just beats, to it, it's kinda like, first come first serve. I find that I'll often use the first beat I try cuz it sounds good and then pretty soon you're just deep into it. I like your reggae idea and just may play around with it. Or you could too, if you so desire, since the 'pella is on this insanely wonderful site.
Thank you so much your comment. Coincidentally, I listened to a BUNCH of Massive Attack on YouTube the other day. I hadn't really gotten into them back in the day - just missed it, I guess, like so many other things. (Mazzy Star, say. Sonic Youth. How did I miss all that stuff?) Massive Attack - oh man, I just love their music. And their videos are insanely great. Through the roof brilliant. So that comparison of yours really means something to me. Thank you!
This it s a trip Citizen. I don't have a critique because I don't know what you where aiming for. Reminds me of the background music for a slow motion drama scene in a movie. The contrast of the soft vocal and the hard trap beat create a suspense that in and of itself has artistic value.
Hey, Format. Thank you for your comment! I don't know what I was aiming for either, frankly. It starts with getting drawn into a vocal. I was purposefully looking for female acapellas, and when I heard this one, it was so personal and endearing that I had to download it and found that I could. From there it's, ok, what trap tracks do I have on hand? Let's listen to some more - try this, try that. Mess around, fun, joy, time passes, done. That's basically what I had in mind. I like your comment about the slow motion music - great insight. thank you!
I think you have done wonders here with cautionRawr's vocals, this reminded me a little of Bjork's style, though the vocals are different, there are still some similarities Absolutely creative and WONDERFULLY! put together. Music for me is art and you have displayed that clearly here. FAB! Work and all round SUPERB! production.
Thank you, sweetcherries. I appreciate your insight and feedback like no one else. You are one of the reasons why this site and community is so special. Thank you.
Its sometimes so nice to belong to a community of people who have one goal. Creativity. This sounds amazingly dissonant and haunting. The clash of the keysof the music vs vocals works well here to create an almost desperate dark nightmare of sound with the message being presented by the lyrics.
good job.
Yes, crucethus, whose name I have seen on many dozens of loops that I have downloaded to play with in my loopermanic concoctions, it is so nice to belong to this community of creative and generous people who get off on inspiring fellow musicians, offering up their work and their genius for the free use of the community. There's something very beautiful about this free spirit of sharing and this desire to flow creation together into an ever-larger whole. I'm glad you found something to like in my mashup because, as I know, you are the real deal, although I feel like, even now, you're being generous. But thank you, and I hope you and yours are staying safe!
Tonight this sounds so pro and so relevant. The best work I have heard from you Bro!!!. Vox and effects were just freaking perfect. what a smile you put on my face tonight. You should be very proud of this tune. This just sounds awesome in every way! Great job re-working this mate! And that abrupt ending... fantastico!
Cru
Thank you, man! I appreciate it, and I'm glad I was able to put a smile on your face. And now you have reached across space and time to return the favor. Thank you!
