ugh...this is so naught. that bass is some of the dirtiest ive heard. you mixed it up really well. your use of breaks is also great; its like being teased and tickled, then smacked in the...well...i'll let you decide where...
i absolutely adore this sick lil track and cannot wait to hear more of your work.
uber kudos on this one!

This is really promising if you really havn't been making music for that long (I read your profile). The track is so simple and un-complicated, works really well. Those dirty dirty synths are used to really good effect. The beat is exactly what it needs to be, no useless frills. The only thing I'm not so sure about is the notes as the track starts. F to G then E sounds a little happy, in a way. I would have done F to F# then E, but perhaps the way you've done it makes it stand out.

it's the truth. im still very amateur with this stuff. not to mention my musical knowledge is almost non existent. i just go by ear and tweak it til it sounds the way i hear it in my head lol. i can't say im on the same page when you tell me about the notes that i should change. I'll look em up and give them a try though.
I'm really glad that people who do understand music are enjoying what i come up with too, it's a good sign haha.
thanks alot,

this track is covered in fantastic filth. i guess i dont mind minimal dubstep, cause i dont think you need to add anything to this.
great work!

Dude,
i like this track...

wicked bassline.
soon as i heard it after the drop,
i thot of Bar 9's Murda Sound VIP.

i rlly wouldnt mind having
that kinda dubstep patch in my
collection.

great work.

Its minimal, but it rlly works for me.
Wat i think it needs are incidentals.
zaps, rises, sweeps and beeps. any wierd samples
u find that think fit.

its a rusko type technique i guess,
but it really gives ppl something to grab
on to throughout the track. I need more samples
like that haha.
if not, make my own lol.

Falter replied Unknown
hey man, thanks for the advice. went back and threw in a few things and made some small changes to fx n beats. hope you'll give it a listen and let me know if that's what you were talkin about.
if you use massive i can send you some of my patches? pretty much all the ones in this tune were from scratch. but the most important stuff for hitting those sounds is in the effects you put it through. check out using a bit crusher or some distortion to get those really broken up basses. theres alot of good freeware out there that does the job.

I think this is your best yet. It isn't clipping. I remember that some of your older tracks clipped. I think you could change the snare to less synthetic sounding snare. Add some pads and some fx. It sounds too minimal.

I made a dubstep song "Don't Get Lost." I also have some dnb tracks that you may like.

Falter replied Unknown
thanks for the pointers travis, always appreciate hearin from ya. went back and threw in a some fx where it made sense to me. tried to keep it a bit on the minimal side for the most part. hope you'll dig it.

ok I'm going be brave here..mostly because nobody has been brave enough yet to tell me where I'm going wrong with my dubstep track.. over all you've got the general idea when it comes to the sounds your just lack a sub bass sound and that overlap of the lfo's that works so well for the likes of RESO.. the beat works well but you don't mix it up an awful lot there's no stop start there that you would hear with most dubstep tracks.. I would love to give you some great advice but I find it hard getting my head around producing dubstep as well.. maybe we could help one another? but I would check out this http://www.boyinaband.com/tutorials/dubstep-tutorial/ it's quite good if you got reason

Hey man, really appreciate you takin the time to point out what i need to change about this one. I cooked it up in about 3 hours start to finish so there's no real technical stuff thrown into it. You're right about the stop and starts with the drums, that is something i wasn't really taking into account and thinking back that makes a huge difference. This track was more about playing with the synths i have to get the right sound for the bass but giving it another listen this morning i think i was a long way off. The dubstep i like, and want to produce, is stuff like Excision, Datsik, Black Sun Empire (i know they are dnb but have you heard their tune Hyper Sun?? dude check it on youtube its mind blowing) I use FL studio for now, waiting on getting a new laptop in the next month or so to switch programs. but im still not sure if i want to cus FL has pretty much everything i need as far as i can tell. In any case man. I'm definitely down for working with you on getting on top of our game. i'm gonna check out some of your tunes now and hopefully return the same level of criticism.
Much appreciated bro,
TJ

Nice bass line on here. Have you thought about dropping in vocals? I think any kind would work. High female vocals cut, chopped & looped would add some higher notes and more energy. If you don't mind I'd like to try a remix. Let me know you thoughts.

Nice try but the melody of the reece line needs improvement. You say you like, You happen to like some of the same dnb artists/groups that I do. I usually make neurofunk tracks and to get the bassline correctly you have to resample and reprocess or something like that and pitch bend your export sequence to ge even more twisted neuro goodness.
Falter
Falter replied Unknown
all good tips as always man.. i'm just waiting til i get a new laptop cus the one i have now cant handle half the processing i need it to so im having to settle with half-way beats n reeces for the moment. should be getting a new set up in the next week or two tho. any recommendations on type of laptop or software/hardware to look into?? would really appreciate some help in that area cus im stressin over it at the moment haha.
thanks again man. and my email is skate_n_bass@yahoo.com hit me up if you get a chance!
later.

Easy bro,

Got some nice ideas in here! Personally i think you need to get a much bigger kick and snare in there! Maybe some realy heavy sub!

Also a bit more eq on the first intro sound and on the reece that you drop in! Maybe cut the bit where you take the reece really low!

What sort of dnb do you listen to normally?
Falter
Falter replied Unknown
hey bro, much appreciated on the pointers. i do need to re-master this one a bit. always get to see the flaws in a track after i load it up on here. like i said, im still learning where everything needs to be placed in the mix as far as DnB goes.
usually i listen to a lot of tech-step, dark neuro, that kinda stuff. Spor, Calyx, Noisia, Evol Intent, etc. and you? my email is skate_n_bass@yahoo.com hit me up on there if you like.
take it easy.

Hi Falter,
Getting around to give reviews back to my recent rock tune you reviewed.

This is quite a bit different sounding track. Hardcore as you call it. Has some nice features in it I like....like the synth parts.
Always goood to hear what someone has going on inside their mind. ;-).
Good job.

1. the intro is great 2. the vaguard is a must have. 3. the bassdrum could be more sronger ( kinda "wup ass" type). 4. the outro is ok. cheers

Hi Falter, I like the essence of this track a lot, strong groove and great synth lead sound.I would like to hear this with a cleaner drum track and a pumping low kick/bass.Thats just my opinion.I place a fair amount of focus on sound quality & production...too much sometimes !!! lol.Anyway, well done.peace & goodwill,Geo.
