this is really nice, i like the 2nd part of the song, and who knows someday someone can put lyrics to this, i think it could be good if done properly

but good song all the same, well done, very nice

i really like this and its a bit different to the usual tracks here on lopperman which has me thinking i need to to concentrate more on my melody lines. (which Metabolic has already commented on.) I like the way the melody develops into a swell really well done i also like the ending which is sweet and poignant. thanks and best regards Robbie.

Play with the velocities (and maybe pitch too) of the first snares, I think it'll bring some extra life to that first section.

If I was in a lighter mood I would enjoy this more, I'll come back when I am.

My mind is imagining a sidechained sub (quiet to loud kinda effect) kind of similar to what you have but a littler more slippery if that makes sense.

I'm enjoying the progression of the melodies, rare in electronic music.

I'll be keeping my eye out for more of your tracks.

Keep it up dude

bitronix replied 25th May 2017 - 8 years ago
That velocity controlled snares is a very neat idea! Thanks man!

And that sidechained sub, is it the pads or the bass on the super saw part on the drop? I'll just check it out

Cheers!

I enjoyed this tune that started with some emotions and deep thoughts, before it filled up with memories of the journey you took, then the parting of ways at the end, the emotions coming back. Great work buddy.

Hey man, thanks for that meaningful comment! I feel great to see that was able to portray what I felt in this simple track

Did not like the opening but then this magical tune appeared and I was able to leave the opening behind.
But then I get to the ending and suddenly the opening was perfect.
Great tune very well put together.

I have never heard anything like this before.
Is there stuff like this out there?
Excellent job.
Very enjoyable experience and to be honesyt I hear no flaws.
This place and the people here never cease to amaze me with the quality of stuff that gets produced.
Very different for me this one and I like that.
Same old same old gets a bit boring.
Great little number.

bitronix replied 15th May 2017 - 8 years ago
It's future bass and I believe it could be a mix of jazz, classical or any 1920s chord progressions.

Thanks man! I appreciate the compliment. Cheers!

I really like the song. Only criticism is I think the filter you put on his voice overstays it's welcome after a while. But overall great track.
bitronix
bitronix replied 19th Apr 2017 - 8 years ago
at first yea, i thought of that filter. since i listened to the track everyday, i got used to the filter so maybe i forgot to fix that xD thanks and cheers!

Every song that uses sidechaining and is about anime or something cute is automatically a future genre ;)
I think your song has a different vibe. I loved the vocals! The 'wah' and 'wooh' let me to believe that it has more a trap vibe. Including the trap high hat rhythm that you use. So... Trap?

Have you recorded the piano yourself? It really fits with the song! While writing this comment, I have listened to the song like 3 times now. So it is really good. Fave from me :)
Go on and continue doing cool stuff.

Well then it's settled, the track is now officially in the genre of Trap XD

I actually did the instrumentals first before finding the vocals that fitted the track, so I guess we could call it an "accident"...in a good way

I don't have a midi keyboard or any good sounding pianos right now which means no, I didn't record the piano live lol

Thanks for the feedback and comment btw! Cheers

Oh crap, I'm so dumb lol

I thought it had something to do with the plugin i used but i did not find the knob or slider where you can reduce the noise (cutoffs and resonance?) Thanks!

Wow!!! Fucking amazing. Supersaws are slightly hissy, I always make the same mistake though. Great solid track though!

I can't find a way to reduce that hissiness. It does sound annoying when you focus on it. Thanks for the feedback and cheers!

Hey 2D2R ! This is really cool! I like the idea of a quickie track. I always found it difficult to write dubstep, but you've really pulled it off with this one!

The only constructive criticism I have is that the low end is a little too prominent at 2:37. It sounds as if you've got low octave brass stabs and sub bass happening at the same time. Try raising the stabs (if they are stabs) up an octave and lower the volume on them a tad!

Hope I could be of some help! Wonderful work here my friend!

Your feedback made the track better than ever! I just noticed that little bug when you mentioned it, so thank you very much! You help people here in looperman in any way you can and that's what I like from you! thanks again!
cheers

ps i updated the track!

Sounds like a pretty awesome beginning you've done here! There was something early on, which made me realize that my volume was pretty low... when the crash cymbal started hitting, that was almost all I could hear. Turning the volume up helped, but I still think that the cymbal could come down in the mix a bit, or at least be less centered. When the cymbal isn't there, everything seems at peace in the mix. All in all, some cool composition in here! I'd like to hear you complete it!

bitronix replied 13th Jan 2017 - 8 years ago
I've reduced the volume of the cymbals and crashes! Thanks for reminding me that. I haven't noticed it until you said it :)

Hey buddy!

I really like what you've done here. It's like a merger between rock and electronic.

I'm picturing this in a movie. It seems like the perfect introduction to a movie about a high school boy....most likely played by Michael Cera lmao

When you say you're feeling like something is wrong with the track itself, I believe that's just you being your worst critic haha personally, this track is very promising and has a LOT of potential!

One thing I would change though is the synth you've used in the electronic portion. It's a little too harsh. Try bringing the cutoff down a tad and slapping some reverb on there if there isn't some already!

Hope I've been of some help! Stoked to hear more from you !!

Your friend,

The electronic dist guitar used is a soundfont so there's no cutoff knob on the plugin I use. There's already a reverb but yeah, I do believe it's a bit harsh! I'll try finding a way to fix that.

Thanks!

This has a pleasing sound to it for sure! I like the subtle melodies and chord work, it all flows very well. I suppose I'd have to say that this is not technically 8 bit music, since it uses NES sounds and the like. NES was of course a 16 bit system. It does have the sort of composition I would expect from an 8 bit tune, and no one is really going to care about the bit rate of the source sounds! I notice from your wave form, that you have a quite a bit of headroom. If you were to be more gentle with any compression or limiting which you have used, and then simply turn up all of the mixer tracks by the same relative amount, then you could push this to fill the headroom... That way, you would gain dynamic range without losing any apparent loudness. Just a thought. It sounds really good so far!

Hey spiv! My deepest apologies on not replying as soon as I receive your comment! My computer broke that time and I have to move to my crappy laptop which isnt compatible to any music DAWs or whatsoever. I might be not making music for a bit of time since I am making a game using these 16-bit tracks as you say so I might be off for a while. I'll be taking your advice about headrooms and compression. I'll be right back and thanks!

This reminds me of some of the sounds I used to make on my old Commodore Vic 20. 3 synth lines (one bass), and a white noise generator for the drums, all using peek and poke on basic language trying to make the timing work with the memory lag. Those were the days.
