HEY GIZZ...sorry i aint been around lately...had me own stuff to deal with. Glad i popped by tho! Great track this one...Barry would like it no doubt. How is he doin..? I messaged him on tt but have heard nothin.....Is he still ok...I know he has a major health issue. I hope he's ok he's a fabulous person!! Great track matey....Sorry i aint been around for a while!!
This is full pro radio stuff man, amazing quality. My girl heard this and loves it. Great vox with the music. I don't know if it was the player or something but it sounded like it cut off at the end -I assume the "under construction" means your polishing this gem some more. haha. It sounds great -Always professional production and mixes from you. Glad to see a looper back on here I remember. Much respect Gizz...looking forward to more. peace.
I really like this track, that lead synth is great and the female vox are fantastic. I love the way the synth mimics the vox at 4:40ish The mix is superb, the levels are perfect.
Great work,
Helix
the intro melody/arp sounded really nostalgic; we didn't realize that anyone was still using the original "sonic foundry" sample CDs, (back when ACID was not owned by Sony but by Sonic Foundry), definitely great usage of the loop, warm welcome.
We enjoyed this track. Has a nice set of changeups and cool variations in the vocal section as well as the bass area and melodies. We believe we have heard these vocals before as well, just cannot recall. Doesn't matter. Great usage.
We also enjoyed the delay usage and the "gating", really well used to create a much fuller track.
We were expecting "more" after 3 mins or so, but long and repetitious sounds are expected withing this genre, we were quite satisfied that you had enough changes/sounds so it didn't feel so repetitious.
sean,your best!
now more words, i love this track! the way you've built it up with the great beat, vox and the trippy ass synth thingy!
pat yourself on the back for this one!
is there some profanity in this one? i wasn't sure if you could use that kind of language in canada. lmao!
your compadre,
neil
Whoa..way cool!..this is as they say 'wicked'..I love that bass like synth phrase supporting everything..and your using Holly's voice as an instrument not an inclusion..which is where it's at as far as I'm concerned....Haha..I have to laugh when you ask for any suggestions..I sort of feel silly if I don't offer one..Hmmm..ok here's one (the composition music, levels ,mix are great)..I don't like the song title! It's too middle of the road..I feel it's not up to your usual standard of Gizzardness...be more adventurous..take control of the situation!..lol excellent work..cheers Dave :)
hi planet ;]
thanks very much. i took your wise advice as you were absolutely right about giving that song such a quick and unthoughtful title..so "soul of Apollon Musagetes" is the new official title.
Eh up the gizz!!! It's been a while since I've dropped by. I can't spend as much time on looper world nowadays due to a change in work patterns! Anyway to this track. Cool baby!!! Great use of a unique vocal line from Holly. I just stand in wonderment about how you manage to produce top quality songs time and time again. This is a great offering, and my ears can't fault it one bit, it all sounds awesome!
I'm trying to see it. I can feel the hiphop vibe of this, but I also see it's Fusion roots. And as always, I'm reminded of similar beats produced by the likes of The Crystal Method, Digital Assassins, DJ Baby Anne, DJ Icey, Trip Theory, and others that I'm blanking on at the mo'. Though for the rest of this track it's more like Baby Anne mixed with Trip Theory and possibly even DJ Shadow.
The vocal sample is pretty sweet. As is pretty much everything else. And in relation to the break downs, I'm left wondering if this was looped, sampled, or spun. I'd guess, but probably be wrong. Anywho, nicely done mate. Lates!
Shall receive.
Round 1, the master volume needs to be turned up just a little (it was barely audible at first). Unless you made this with a lengthy fade in and in that case nevermind.
Round 2, I dunno if the genre fits, because even though this has a laidback vibe it still seems upbeat, because of the bass & drums. Not that I'm an expert on genres, but I'm thinkin this is kind of a mix between Trip-Hop, Synth Pop (like newer Madonna, and a little House.
Though it is cool and is kinda remindin me of the song Boomerang by Cirrus mixed with Bjork and the end kinda sounds a little like the stuff found on Fanny Pack's album.
Round 3, I agree with Aiden above about adding extra stuff in the background to provide static filler. In relation to the vocals and the artist Green Velvet you could do something similar to what he did in his track Flash and have various sounds of Cameras thrown in (like shutter when a picture is snapped, the clicks of the flash, the sound it makes on older ones when the film is advanced, the sound it makes when the film is loaded, the sound of the lens' movement as it auto-focuses on newer ones, etc).
Round 4, maybe add some more synths near the end of the song. Like that part where there's a lull in the drums, before the they come back with the Bongos (between 4:00 and 4:30). Dunno what though- some pads, some leads, some of what's already there copied and with effects, shrugs.
Anyways, I really dig what you've got so far. I'd say that you're about 70-90 percent done with this (depending on your end goal for it). Looking forward to hearing the finished result. Later on!
