Love your music and I like the way you put certain people in there place. You and Slap are probable the most talented on the loop but I have not had enough time to explore the whole loop. The problem with me is... I like every genre, some better then others lately if you no what I mean.
This is the ONE.... my favorite from you. Why is this music not on the radio ...the style I mean it sounds like the guitar is surfing in the ocean. I do not know how to play guitar but I know how to surf. LES PAUL surfed on his guitar all the way to the Hall of Fame .. peace brother
As someone else stated, this is more an experience than a song - and that is all good...haha since I think of music in a visual sense, images... this is a full jungle oddessey, Very cool structure to this madness, and gets even more magical once the guitar starts singin'. I can't decide if this would be great for a very trippy animated jungle trip or an awesome acid trip montage during the Vietnam war...haha -hmmm both good. This track is layered with goodness- Very cool Planet... very cool. peace.
Thanks man...I like the acid trip montage clip ..that would be cool..there's always a nasty little war going on somewhere..I wonder if they need a sound track?..cheers mate :)
Dave, this is sounding excellent, though there is one thing that is bugging me in it.
The bass sound you use, maybe it's just my speakers, but hits a combination of ugly frequencies that just create a resonant bass sound, I have to work with it in my bassline all the time in hardcore.
I LOVE the use of ambience, sounds like a plain taking off in the background.
Hey Curtis..thanks for the listen mate..As for the bass sound..I thought it sounded great! lol hehe,seriously..it's interesting you should say that..I'm always changing it looking for a better more refined sound ..this particular version has a lot of presence to it and I wouldn't use it in a more ensemble piece..hehe what sort of monitors are you using?..there is another thing you know, your ears are totally different in audio receptiveness to my (old ones) or so I'm led to believe...maybe my music will be played in Malls to discourage youth from gathering in large numbers ..bwahahahaha..just kidding..I really appreciate your frank and honest appraisal..how else are we ever going to improve if we don't listen to our peers...cheers mate Dave :)
Very good stuff, My cousin introduced me 2 after many spliffs Miles Davis Whether Report Chic Korea Jacob Pastorius and all that jazz, your music is amazing peace2009jazzfestivals
Wow I agree with a lot of people, the bass in this one is just sweeet! Love the ethnic backbeats too, and Slap is awesome in the sax as always =) It's very atmospheric without overdoing the ambiance, which I think is what's mostly the problem with a lot of chill out tracks. Another thing I like is that great balance between the staccato rhythm of the drums and the smooth notes of the sax. It's strange, but this track gives me a sense of tranquility, but at the same time a feeling of freedom and a want to dance. I really really enjoyed this!
Hey thanks Ria...glad you liked it.Slap can hold a lovely note can't he...always nice to hear from you..cheers and salutations from a fellow Aussie Dave :)
It almost sounds like you were clandestinely approaching a weird space voodoo ritual in the deepest brushes of an unmapped jungle. Then around 2:40ish, you unsheathed your guitar and showed the space voodoo natives a different voodoo ritual.
I mean this in no bad way when I say this doesn't hit me so much a song as it is an experience with sounds. Thanks for sharing.
this is okay the guitar a little loud the vocals are mixxed good not really feeling the words but overall a good production God Bless and Keep up the good work
Hey BJ..thanks for the review..this was my first effort with spoken word ..so there's bound to be a lot of room for improvement...Eshar and I shall be collaborating again and I will definitely be seeking a better balance within the mix next time..cheers planet
great track man! love it! everything is mixed and blends really well toghether! i like the guitar sound too ;) just enough crunch on it..sounds like a very natural distortion.
keep it up buddy
this is just wicked... i think the vox gets a little drowned out by the guitar making it hard for me to follow... but it also could be my head because i'm recovering from working sxsw with the flu.
anyway... wicked track and i love eshers voice
I think your right..it's the first time I did a track like this..so it was a learning experience for me..Eshar and I are teaming up again for another one (as soon as I finish the poem!)..she has a marvellous voice I agree..cheers mate :)
planet you have this sound.. i dont know what it is but its like your sound... its like chaos organized into melodic bliss.
i think this could represent how social anarchy can work beautifully.
Hey man...when MrAbelton tells me something I listen!..that's very cool of you to say that...I've been a tone miner for ages as we all have...like you I want to get an EUB..this year hopefully...cheers mate :)
You should rename this "I Got a Black Magic Kooka" (lol).....pity so many people hadn't heard ne before....mind you they are not the best things to listen to at 5am if you have had a big night out!.....great bass and guitar sounds.....fusion art!
Wanted to come over here and see what was going on in the mind from way across the world. Nice drum sounds/beat. I like the synth type bass sound....like a fretless bass sound to me since I also play bass.
Great Sax playing by Slap too. He makes that instrument just talk!
I am working on a rock tune again with some keyboard input this time. I've had a Korg for years and didn't use it a lot, but now I want to add some variety into my tunes as I am running out of ideas.
So thanks for uploading this tune. I see it as a featured as well, so that is great so others can catch it if they missed its opening debut.
Hey Randy..thanks for the kind review mate...adding a bit of synth flavour always helps I think...their such cool instruments and the Korg's you have look way impressive..I think you might be pushing Slap out of first place for most versatile musician on the Loop..how many instruments do you play again..one or two dozen! lol...cheers mate Dave :)
percussion perffect.....fantastic sounds going on there planet.....Slaps sax is hypnotic as always......your bass work and fx work top notch.......great way to start a day at work.
Well done
Trax
Hey thanks mate..always nice to hear from a fellow Aussie...I've always loved percussion,it has such a down local feel to it..tribal I guess.. thank you for the kind review cheers MrT :)
There's really no point in me listening and posting to each and every song that you have posted... they're all varying degrees of excellence. This 1999 piece, is as good as, and arguably better than, your more recent compositions... and your most recent is incredible.
Hehe..thanks mate..I'm glad you liked it ..but this track wasn't done in 1999 that's a mistake with something to do with the site it was done in 2008 ..Looperman didn't exist in 1999 haha..plus I was doing stuff that sounded more like the Stones then...lol cheers mate
Out-of-this-world! I have heard a lot of top notch stuff here on LM, but nothing that has the sound, composition, and amazing quality of this piece. This must be one of the top tracks on LM.
Another thing worth mentioning - your paintings (avatar) are great.
Can't wait to listen to the rest of your posted music. Amazing!
Hey man..thanks for the vote of support..I think there are many that would disagree with you though..hehe..working with guys like SlapJohnston never hurt a track either...your comments are very kind MrAp...cheers planet :)
The desc reminds me of The Jurassic Park films. Namely, Jeff Goldblum's character and 'the chaos theory'. Then it leads me into I Am Legend. And strangely, I'm left thinking that what the world needs now is... Zombies, flesh eating Zombies. Wait, that isn't right. It's love, sweet love. Silly me!
Eh, maybe someone could blend 'em and make it- Sweet Zombie Love. Yeah, there ya go... Someone needs to make a Zombie love story script. That'd be so great, baahahahahaha!
As for the track, it has this kinda cool awaking/being born kinda vibe to it. Falling back on the Jurassic Park thing from above. A baby T-Rex hatching and opening it's eyes for the first time. And there we'd be 1890 African Safari get up and all, with a bag of Reece's Pieces and a tranq gun to entice the thing to come back with us. Interesting vibes mate. Later on!

Hey thanks man...cool review!...seeing as you asked so nicely..lol I will be putting some loops up soon..it's been bugging me that I haven't done so yet...consider it done!..cheers Dave :)
This piece is wack! Crazy blend of sounds that don't go together, yet somehow you managed. I wouldn't classify it as chill out though...wierd? fusion-ish?
Nice work!
