Description : No other song of ours has generated more international attention and praise than the story of "Denis and Alina." The YouTube video alone has reached nearly 133,000 views and sparked intense debate. Even today, audiences still approach us about it. I liked your piece. Unfortunately, it is a piece that shows, reading its words, another sad aspect of the war. I liked your voice and performance.

Hello Manuela,
I think this discussion is always alive in the hearts of those who appreciate the beauty of music and lyrics, the warmth of human touch and love, or the sorrow that comes with loss. I can tell from the community's deep and thoughtful comments. Art is where feelings live. The lyrical composition here is incredibly expressive, perfectly carrying the words to every listener. Your performance is truly magical, you embodied the protagonist so well (and your accent amazed me) that you led us to feel such unreasonable pain. Not everyone sees it this way, but when wars happen, great losses occur on both sides. Wars have victims and offenders, but casualties exist on each side. And casualties are people, with families, history, and a future taken from them. It's so unnatural.
Beautiful song, Manuela, these voices must exist so someone might listen and care for humanity's wounds.
Warm regards, Anthony

Hi Anthony, I was so pleased to hear from you. I completely agree with you. I know we can't change the world with songs like these alone. But I believe it's important for everyone to reflect on their own situation and the situation we all share. Some changes start small and grow steadily.

Warm regards, Manuela

Hi Manuela! I trust all is well with you. I listened to this and checked the YouTube video.

So there's something deeper than the very professional presentation displayed here. Everything is par excellence. Maybe when time permits we can have an conversation about the current events we are experiencing and we all face.

This work is quite rich!

Peace,

Mark

Hello Mark,
thank you for your words and for watching the video. Im adding the link here once more:
youtu.be/RVePn9yZG3w?si=JYA51a4XkpSGvCU1
because I believe the song and the video should be seen in context.

Youre right in assuming that the song carries a certain depth that is sometimes overlooked, especially when the lyrics arent in the native language of most listeners here. And precisely because the theme relates to the situation in Ukraine, which has unfortunately faded into the background due to other global events, we decided to share this Ukrainian version, the language of the original text. Sadly, nothing has changed there; people are still losing their lives unnecessarily and arbitrarily, on both sides.

As TheFrenz already mentioned, on
https://soundcloud.com/truesisterband
you can also find German and English versions of the song. There is also an unpublished live version by Olafs Big Band. Those who have known me longer, even from my earlier time here on Looperman, know that besides True Sister Band, Olafs Big Band is another musical love of mine. If youre interested, you can find that version here: https://on.soundcloud.com/j98XUUICf2ysAKcAFG

I would be very happy, Mark, and of course anyone else reading this, if you gave it a listen and shared some feedback.

Mark, I would truly appreciate talking with you about the difficult situation humanity currently finds itself in. Ive even been warned that I might face a travel ban to the US *smile, reason enough to speak even more clearly.

Warm greetings,
Manuela

Absolutely gorgeous all around. Your voice so intimate in this. It's so terrible and shameful that a handful of old power crazed men are bringing such destruction and suffering to the world .

A moving story, narrated and sung in an incredible way. Everything togetherthe music, the voicestirs you deeply when you listen to it. It's no wonder it's so successful; it deserves it. And unfortunately, we live in a world where if someone dies tragically, it becomes an individual tragedy and receives a lot of media attention. But when thousands of innocent people lose their lives, we almost normalize it. As a society, we don't realize the tragedy of each of those deaths, especially when it's often due to the decisions of those who are never exposed to losing their lives. It's a shame that this world is getting worse and worse; there's less and less humanity in people. The only glimmer of hope is when you read about or meet people through these media, miles away, on the other side of the world, who think like you, who value life, who respect others. I hope there are more and more of us.

Congratulations on the song and its success.
Best regards, Juan Carlos.

Hello Juan,
how right you are. As long as suffering doesnt happen in our own surroundings, we tend to acknowledge it only from a distance , it doesnt truly reach us. Here in Germany, we recently had a whale that got lost in the Baltic Sea and tragically stranded on a sandbank. There were several rescue attempts, all unsuccessful so far. The media coverage about this poor whale has been extremely intense, pushing far more serious events out of the news.
What does the whale have that the victims in Lebanon, Iran, Israel, Ukraine do not?
What makes the whale capable of distracting from political events in the world and in Germany, from unhinged presidents, famines, wars, economic chaos, and more?
Perhaps its because life is so comfortable for us that we can no longer imagine real suffering and maybe we dont want to. In the end, we all put ourselves first. I cant always exclude myself from that either. We simply escape into the hope that none of this will ever affect us. Hopefully.
Thank you so much for your kind words

Warm regards,
Manuela

Ooh, I love the soft vox here. You almost reminded me of a Quebec Artist, Arianne Moffat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fF1KyZqadw
Obviously, the Leder is heavy here. We need a modern Tristan and Iseult narrative, and this song delivers. Unfortunately, Modern Warfare doesn't wait for our Romantic natures as humans. And it's all such a ridiculous waste of energy and hubris. But Art like this narrates the struggles and difficulties we are presented on a daily basis. Some of us are privileged, and some of us suffer horrendous sorrow. This song captures an ennui of us, the listeners, vs the passion of the song's subjects. brilliant song.

Thank you so much!

I know Arienne, not personally, but I'm familiar with some of her soulful ballads. And by the way, the song you linked is truly beautiful. I'd be delighted if others here would listen to it as well.
It's an honor that you're comparing me to such an exceptionally talented artist.
You mentioned Wagner's Tristan and Isolde. While that story revolves around revenge, atonement, entangled relationships, and a magic potion that transforms hatred into love, only to ultimately end in death, Denis and Alina's story is quite different. It's about an unwanted separation caused by the madness of war, a separation Denis doesn't survive. Alina is left alone and gives birth to Denis's child. He never got to know it.
When I think about how many young men, who never really had the chance to live their lives, have fallen on the front lines, simply because power-hungry, so-called political leaders want to expand at any cost, driven by economic ambitions that cannot even meet their own limits it's unbearable. People are dying because of this madness.
And unfortunately, this isn't only happening in Ukraine.

Warm regards, Manuela

A deeply unsettling and yet hopeful song which perfectly illustrates mankind's potential for both devastation and creation. I do believe that, basically, it is up to us to make "right" decisions and take action for a brighter and more sustainable future altogether - be it as individuals or as societies on a global scale.
Hence, essential topic wrapped up in an amazing artwork. Congrats, Manuela!

Hi Gizmo, thank you so much for your kind words! And you're absolutely right, it's up to us to make the right decisions. Unfortunately, these are usually the small, personal decisions in our own lives. The big decisions, on the other hand, are made by others, often by people we've chosen ourselves.
This used to work quite well, and we were able to live in peace and freedom, at least here in the Northern Hemisphere, in the so-called civilized industrialized nations. But now it's becoming increasingly clear that through dangerous dependencies, we've made a very small group of people powerful enough to endanger the world. That's frightening.

Warm regards, Manuela

Beautiful music, vocals and lyrics telling a sad story. Also listened the German, English and Ukrainian version on Soundcloud. What a world we live in, where ruthless people incite their population with lies and cause chaos in the world.

Hello, and thank you!
Im really glad you visited our SoundCloud page and took the time to listen to the songs. Thank you as well for the likes you left there and here.
And yes, youre right. Im increasingly afraid that a small number of people might manage to destroy our beautiful world much faster than we can imagine. I truly hope my fears wont come true.

Wishing you a lovely Sunday.
