Description : COLLAB me and our colleague Vintage Nights, Oli sent me a tune asking if i would put a vocal to it, he asked for just a dry vocal, i obliged and gave him Carte Blanche to lay it out how he wished and mixed and produced how he wanted, i only sent him my vox, so i cant really claim any credit here, i was stoked to say the least and even more chuffed that he asked me to host his work and Oli came up trumps with the title too. wow what a gift,

Really nice collaboration. The outcome is of professional level to my ears. It is a very sensitive approach as it should, and that's truly appreciated. Thank you.
great to see you terry, hope your well, to be truthful all the hard work was Oli really, its was a great collab that was easy for me, we both thank you for your listen and comment

thanks for the listen and positive feedback Mos, it goes to show what can be achieved working with others, we all consider ourselves amateur but i personally don't see amateur, i just here class from so many within our community. i'll never be the greatest singer but from where i was to now has surprised me, as a rank amateur 4 years ago, i was just inquisitive really (didn't know what a DAW was) to now working with excellent people that have given me constructive critique and directed me. im now playing more keys writing and singing original songs and producing, collabing is what i love most your dead right calling it family, musically we all are, thats why i have always pushed the community to play a part and join in more, i appreciate the feedback more than i could say
thanks for the comment atw we appreciate yor time listen and comment, we were both pleased with how this track came together and yeah the instruments were a great choice, Oli' work was great
More than 1000 views in almost just one week. That's quite something. For me, as a producer, it's also a small ray of hope that singing, chanting or rapping, together with the music and the message, can become more of a unit again. That both parts are on an equal footing and complement each other, instead of just putting a rhythm machine, a loop and 2 samples over a voice. We know from experience that when two people join forces, the success and attention not only simply doubles but can grow exponentially. Openness to something new is a prerequisite. The music universe is so vast, let's make something of it :-) Cheers, Oli
hi Oli, personally i had no doubt it wuld get listens but i was surprised at the plays for one week, and the comments are positive too, all the credit goes to you my friend, all the hard work was yours , i just sang what i thought was a good match for the music, and i would be happy to work with you again. collaborating is something i try to push always, as like you mention, it can bring surprising results makes you think differently and its another way to learn for more, i will be in touch with you again privately about ideas and likewise Oli, if you have an idea or a route or subject you think we should cover get in touch, your a great producer and i do want to make something of this oppurtunity with you
all the work was Oli really bro just my vocal but its great to get good comments on work you do with other artist, thats what being a community is about and you learn so much too because you are listening to somebody elses ideas also not just your own, thanks for the listen ,its appreciated Critical
Mr. Axel is just stopping by. Cheers mate, I hope all is good. Me, better now. So I see that you are still at it with some very top-notch producers. Again, you are a top guy, doing phenomenal work. You never disappoint.
Great delivery on an extraordinary track. I pray that you have continued success because you are a global superstar sensation!
hi Mr Axel im so happy to read that your all good, i know we'll probably never meet but you have been a good long time friend here and its great to here your good, thats not sentimental tosh either its genuine, you have supported me when your here with positives, some people you just attach to you are one
your music appealed to me and i found the nicest man behind the artist
when ever i see your name it makes me smile, similar to Dubjoka his profile pic always makes me smile too, it may sound a little silly but it works for me.
to have the opportunity to work with producer the calibre of Oli is mind blowing for me, yes i act confident here , but in real life im less so, dimestop is the devil in me and for us oldies having a bit of devil is great, but it is nice to put on my cardigan and comfy slippers and try and act my age, thankyou for the wonderful comment my friend
From Beautiful to just downright awesome sounds! Long time no see Dimestop! I did disappear for a while. When I got back on, you're the first person I went to, to see if you we're still uploading. And man have you improved. I really can tell.
thankyou bro your words are so kind, its nice to see you around too. Oli done the work here and i just keep practising and its nice to know people have noticed an improvement, its just more inspiration thankyou
thanks Wayne just listened to you latest, im trying to keep my lyrics flowing like you working with others, the way forward, will the new update carry the site forward, sadly not, since the stopping of the forum this place has been dead with very few bothering to join in these days, having nowhere user can interact is the problem and yet they cant see it, its not really an update, more of a paint job for appearance only.
It's a great, artfully made track, congrats to you both. I like your voice sounding natural like this. I think it adds to the authentic human feel and gets your message over straight up. Top notch bro.
thanks for the listen Chris, Oli done a really good job, although it was a collab most of the work is down to him. i was honoured, and i enjoyed the collab and it was nice to here my vocals natural, i maybe over ingulge with fx, so a lesson for me too :))
I got hit too... When I was 18 playing ice hockey. I like to think it knocked some sense into me. I was 3 weeks in to my freshman year of college. I decided I had to take a break and recover. On the way home from school after deciding I was not going to go back, I was talking to my mother about my hopes and dreams. When I got home I went into my back yard and smoked a big bowl of Marijuana. I head inside go up to my room. A feeling like ecstasy comes over my body. My ears ringing. Wiz Khalifa pops in on my left shoulder. Says, I'm Wiz. Then Drake pops in on my right shoulder. Says "I'm Drake". Wiz says "Make music.", then I say "I'm writing lyrics" after that they were gone. Later that night I'm thinking about what it could all mean and my left eye was forced to wink six times. So that's why I record. But here is a podcast I started like 2.5 years ago. Send me a message on soundcloud I'll link you to Part 2. It's all still private as I only have the first two parts recorded. It's a story from my childhood. I played the piano on the intro then freestyled the introduction, punching in and out. I think you'll laugh hearing it. Anyway... Hope all is well, lmk what you think.

Many thanks to everyone for the nice feedback so far. I find it difficult to categorise the song into a clear musical genre. Hip Hop sounds too American. UK Rap? UK groove? or British Groove Rap? UK Dream Rap? :-)
Oli the genre was a struggle, the fat beat would grace any hip hop track, the content is hard, just delivered sensitive if you know the back story, hip hop is to general a term now, so many sub genres , any of the UK ones you mention would do but no other option really, and i couldn't find the ice cool German button.
thanks again for your great work Oli, collabs are great for the community in general too,
Truly great Paul! No need to say too much as long as your punching through with the truth. No rush in the delivery! Just some harmonies if you really want to get into "singing" try writing some rhmyes too "oooo's" and "eeeee's" they are magical. You are progressing the forum here for yourself, and others. The most important thing a song can do is progress the forum, I do not care how bad your voice is, or how good. Does your song compliment the day? Does it inspire others? Sometimes showing empathy or describing a bad situation ragging on something a little bit is great. You took a hit to make a play when you were a kid. That's some Ice Hockey Terminology for being a team player. "Take a hit to make a play." Got one coming for looperman.
thanks for the listen and feedback bro, i think Oli done a great job to be fair, the hit was my car crash at twelve, the bigger hit was my moms murder at 15 i only ever bring truth and being cathartic it helps the soul
Hello Paul, hello Oli, your collaboration on this song is really impressive! The music is beautiful and the lyrical text is sensitive. I like it extremely much. I find it particularly fitting that you, Paul, used your voice with almost no effects. In my opinion, this creates a spoken ballad in which the text and music support and complement each other excellently. Who is the author of the text? The craftsmanship of the entire song is also successful. The mix and mastering are very well executed, and the presentation of bass and drums is not exaggerated, but rather beautifully adjusted. The song offers excellent tonal dynamics. Spectral analysis in our studio (I happened to hear the song for the first time at work today) shows no major peaks or anomalies. Really a great achievement!
Kind regards and wish you a nice weekend
hi Manuela thank you for the great feedback, Oli approached me with a scratch piece sort of raw idea of this music with an idea he had for me to rap, i thought it was too delicate for rap and suggested something a little different. sent him a short draft that he also liked i offered up 'just a kid' or 'should of hid' as a title he suggested what we went with which was far better had a deeper message, i could of sent wet vocals but this was for me to see how i was brought by another producer, and i was blown away myself because he used next to no fx on my voice, this is a lesson for me, i need to use less now :))
i wrote the track based on true events in my life, the pain i was going through i knew what was happening but to young to really understand still recovering from my accident, although i didn't know at the time my mental health was shattered i still feel the pain 43 years later, i 'll never get over it. Oli certainly captured that pain
Now thats how a collab should sound like brilliant. lyrics are deep and very cool
sound quality is brillliant and i like it when the bass comes in and out good work from both of you
thanks Robin, all the work was Oli really, i did only provide the vocal but we passed it back and forth to get the final cut, the object here for me was to allow another producer to produce me, i usually only produce myself and he done a fantastic job, i was chuffed to bits with his craft and the beat was so fat he didnt send me the music as is it was a raw piece similar, so that was a nice surprise too

Description : Something i did when i was about 15, and when i still made beats. This particular track is actually the reason i decided to get into composing at all. I had a good run with the beats and hip-hop scene, but i always had a leaning more towards composing and this, i think, is the catalyst for that revelation. This beat is 9 years old, and gives you a sense of what it was like to be a young, passionate, musically driven teen. Thank you.
