You're just hanging on to letting go, he. I dig the vocals man, delivered with the right amount of breath, emotion and heart that fits the feel of the production as a whole. What's not to like here. Cool vocals and well produced sounds to support them.

TomTom Club meets thethe? To me it has a blend of those two band's influences. I dig it man!

Wayne

xstokes replied 17th Sep 2020 - 6 years ago

hello Wayne! by this time, bud, you gotta count your own bad self as one of my influences! honest, i thought of what you’ve said recently of the joy in making a track in a short amount of time. i scribbled around w the words all day on and off and found a few beats i thought married well. was gonna try and sit down the next day with the aco to work something but couldnt leave it overnight and i had this mochajones loop i didnt know what to do with. it was awful late and i waspretty ragged when i did the vox but it ended up suiting the track.
thank you, bro, for listening and thank you for being the instigational kinda guy you are.

ClickbaitCabaret 16th Sep 2020 00:14 - 6 years ago

Cool low fi vibe. Man. Sounds like it's coming from another room. Great job

xstokes replied 17th Sep 2020 - 6 years ago

yeah, thank god for lofi! sometimes it makes me fit in easier. i really appreciate yr listen, man.

Eighteen 15th Sep 2020 18:53 - 6 years ago

I immediately faved this track purely for the background loop to begin with :D.

as for the vocals, its perfect calmly and menacing at the same time like the vocalist from The Cure - Lullaby

Thank you for making this! :)

Cheers!

xstokes replied 17th Sep 2020 - 6 years ago

hey eighteen — man, i love the loops a lot. thanks so much for the enthusiastic comments, that means a lot. peace.

BONEZONMARZ 15th Sep 2020 17:15 - 6 years ago

the vocals fit the track perfectly, very nice

xstokes replied 15th Sep 2020 - 6 years ago

hey Bonez — i really appreciate your listen and comment, thank you!

EricMilligan 15th Sep 2020 01:59 - 6 years ago

I'm not sure about Davie Bowie or Ric Ocasek. I think I heard the ghost of Lou Reed on this track. I really liked the sound. Vocals worked perfectly in the track. Great "attitude" in the vocal delivery. If you ever would consider a collab, I have unfinished tracks that were meant for a voice like yours.

Eric

xstokes replied 15th Sep 2020 - 6 years ago

hey eric! i said to my compadre cyberflares recently that having a mic in front in me was like having a gun pointed at my face. that being said, it’s nice what you said about lou — he did have a way to make being flat and affectless emotive somehow. i admire what i’ve heard of yours checking thru yr page, esp your vocal tracks. well hey man i dig collab its always no harm no foul with me bro drop me a line. regardless, thanks sincerely for your listen!

DFay 14th Sep 2020 16:52 - 6 years ago

the beginning slaps me lmao. even i 'll prefer a build up. everything fit well and I actually love the way the vocal sound.I wasn't expected it to end like that. quick beginning and quick ending. Good job.

xstokes replied 14th Sep 2020 - 6 years ago

ha it should end quicker but i sing too slow! thanks for the listen, bro!

Art0fficial 14th Sep 2020 02:36 - 6 years ago

CaraDeSol 13th Sep 2020 13:40 - 6 years ago

Hello mate, always nice to hear a new song of yours. What a brilliant piece, it's a great way to wake up. I respect all types of music, except there are many artist that sound boring and don't bring excitement and interest to their music. Damn industry, you can't really blame the artists. Thank God for independant music, I just love it. I apologize for my rant lol. You bring all the goodies to the table, and because of that you are on my list of favorite artist. Thank you for sharing your wonderful music, keep going strong my friend. Faved :)

SunFace, hello! you deserve a medal for listening to my voice, man it’s the aural equivalent of the blair witch shaky-cam! it amazes me my first instinct is to hide this kind of thing in a subfolder but i thought ah hell. you know it’s because of quality people like yourself here that encourage others that i would ever even conceive of doing this. i know you understand the depth of my thanks for your listen, my friend.

Yeah, I love the drone like quality. Dreamy and concusive vocals gives me a sort of fil noire feel to this track. This is cocise, great and minimal. Slightly light in the background dissonance at 1:58 awesome work! Reminds me of James Di Salvio and his Bran Van 3000 work.
