Listen To Sforzando Intro Preview Orchestral Song By Sheensheep At Looperman.com

3rd Sep 2016 08:33 - 9 years ago
Description : So, I’ve been working on a new track. After my last song “The Moments That Take Your Breath Away”, I was filled with a sense of overwhelming pressure to live up to, and even exceed the expectations I held myself to. This led to a pretty bad creative block I’m slowly but surely working myself out of. That is what this song is going to be about: me coming to terms with my own expectations and breaking free from my creative block.

The song itself is still very rough. I used an orchestral soundfont (big thanks to @GregVincey for pointing me in that direction) for the intro to give it an epic feel. For the most part, it’s going to be cinematic, telling a story. I imagine it dropping into experimental future bass; something different. I’ll also be looking forward to having a singer with a strong voice to really nail the intensity and emotion, but I’d rather finish the track first before going down that route.

I’m looking forward to some constructive criticism.

*Please note: This is only a preview of the song, because it’s really not done yet. I’ve had many variations of how this song should be like, but none I was particularly proud of. There’s more info in the description about the meaning behind the track and info on the track itself*

wow, the build is great. it gave me chills. not to many songs do that. only when there is an emotional power behind it. love to hear the rest when it comes out.

Thanks! Glad you like it. Like I mentioned in other replies it'll definitely get finished, but it will take time. I'll do my best to keep emotions high throughout the song.

OK, this is sounding really promising. You MUST continue with it. I really like the orchestral treatment and it has very interesting transitions. Keeps the listeners' interest. I have no idea what "future bass" is, so am going to do some research. I can never keep all the genres straight, but I know what I like and I like this a lot.

I'll definitely get the song completed, but it will take a while.

Hopefully by now you've learnt what future bass is, now that it has become more popular. It's basically more melodic trap, but it's just a broad definition. Music over genre.

This is probably the toughest song I'm working on finishing right now, so it's not going to be all fun Haha. Though I'm really curious how it will sound in the end myself.

Wow okay I loved that.
That build was something to be proud of. I feel like that right off the bat you could drop into future bass and it would sound wonderful.
I'll be impressed whatever you wind up doing.

Stick with it and push through!

Thanks I'm really glad you liked it. I thought of dropping it right off the bat after the orchestral intro, but I wanted to experiment with contrasting dynamics and not just loud all the way. I've still got a lot of work to do Haha Thanks for the comment.

Hey Sheen,

Nice preview! The gentle 'ping pongs' at 0:40 had my attention in this piece and could lead to a nice part after that buildup! I love the fact you fuse styles together with 'no fear'. Really seeking your own style and desire (for this track) instead of mainstream and the simple ways out. I respect that.

I do totally understand the 'expectations towards yourself issue'. I haven't got any full tracks released here on Looperman yet but there's a lot going on behind the curtains here and as addition, my perfectionism sometimes just blocks things up.. lol

Tiny feedback thingy:
Knowing its a preview and work in progress, so please forgive me in that.
For me, the 0:35 transition is a bit out of the blue.

I'm fully confident that it will turn out as something beautiful so keep it up!

The whole idea of posting it before it was done was to get as much feedback as possible so no need to be forgiven. I welcome all kinds of criticism. Especially when it comes to finding my own style.

I'll work on the transition, and make it sound as smooth as possible.

And yeah, I understand what you mean. There's always a part of me that strives for perfection, and it can be extremely discouraging. I have around a 100 projects that are either incomplete or complete but will never see the light of day because I'm not proud of it. But being in a community like looperman helps because of all the support an all the knowledge I can get from people here.

I think I'm ranting so I'll end it here Haha

Sounds like the making of another amazing track! Really looking forward to the full version. I love the idea of an orchestral type beginning leading into future bass. Keep up the great work!

i prefer the second part. This track will walk very well with a trip hop beat. What kind of style will you choose for your definitive version?
i don't know words to describe what i feel wrong in the first part... if you really want i can tell you in french :)

The final style is going to ride the line between experimental future bass and trap.
And please do. I speak French too Haha

Description : This track is the first two sections of what will (hopefully) be a three-part piece — essentially a suite. I am posting parts 1 and 2 because I think they are ready for feedback from Looperman members. Part 3 isn’t done yet because it requires Human League style vocals from a singer with a distinct British accent. I have the melody and lyrics worked out. I sent a private message a while ago to a Looperman member who I think has the right voice for the job. But, haven’t had a response. Until I find a vocalist for it, I can’t finish the piece. In any case, the total file size of the complete piece would be greater than the Looperman limit, so it will have to be split into parts anyway.

Parts 1 and 2, in fact the whole thing, were inspired by acapellas posted here on Looperman by Jacques Demers:

https://www.looperman.com/acapellas/detail/6105/love-love-love-ououou-by-jacquesdemers-130bpm-dance-acapella

https://www.looperman.com/acapellas/detail/6093/dont-keep-back-2-by-jacquesdemers-107bpm-hip-hop-acapella

https://www.looperman.com/acapellas/detail/6091/dont-keep-your-love-away-from-me-by-jacquesdemers-107bpm-hip-hop-acapella

If you haven’t checked out Jacques’ tracks yet, you really should. He doesn’t set them up as “featured” so it might be easy to miss them.

The harmony in Jacques’ acapellas sounded very “Beatle-ish” to me, and that made me want to try my hand at doing a George Martin style treatment. I remembered that ScottsCovers here on Looperman had mentioned an instrument called a Mellotron, which was used by the Beatles, the Moody Blues, Genesis, along with other groups of that era, so I decided to use a VST mellotron as the primary instrument for Parts 1 and 2.

The acapella in Part 2 was in a different key than the one used for Part 1, so I needed to find a chord progression in Part 1 that would modulate the key. Jacques gave me some advice on that, which you can see in the comments on his first acapella.

Part 1 has harp, mellotron flutes, clarinet, french horns, and my attempt at a Penny Lane type trumpet solo (but much simpler). Part 2 has a string ensemble, solo oboe and trumpet in unison, and some Daniel Langois type processed guitars. Both parts were recorded at 60 bpm, largely because that’s where the acapellas seemed to sync best. However, I played the instrument tracks freestyle (rubato), so the tempo actually varies somewhat. Definitely not quantized!

There is a storyline behind this track. Part 1 is the blooming stage of a relationship. Part 2 is about the relationship in decline. Part 3, with vocals, will be about ending it.

I’ve included the transition to Part 3 (which will be a more traditional synth pop section) and just a bit of the first verse backing instrumental so you can get an idea of how things are headed in the final part.

This songs is like a normal day in my life... as my brain point of view. The first part is the morning with strings, horns, clarinette and flute. It's a joyful and beautiful day ! Then, there's a sort of "bridge" between the morning part and the afternoon. Afternoon is awesome and chaotic at the same time, that's why I added dubstep in the middle of the song. Finally, the evening and the night are the second bridge and the end of this piece.

It's the first song I mix Orchestral and Dubstep.
Whole s music maker Jam with Movie Score 1/2/3 and Dubstep (i think it's Vol.2) loops.
Mix = Music Maker (Soundtrack Edition)
Final details = Music Studio

It's a Raw Mix because I really like this song and I want to make a better version ONLY with Music Maker Jam (without mix or whatever, execept for the sound quality).

Feel free to comment :)

Description : I created this track for the love I have for puppies. I love them. Everybody does. This day I went to this park nearby my colony and saw couple of them and thought of making something musically. So this is what i came up with. This time I haven't played much with FX or Technical aspects. Just pure simple & soft melodies. As it is unmixed & unfinished track, request you to boost the volume a little. Hope you all like it! Cheers! :)

Great loops I found by MINOR2GO that I threw together. I just added the bass drum and slight fx here and there. I would consider this cinematic as well. Thanks!
