Description : I tend to record everything and anything. Over the years I have accumulated a vast library of songs, ideas, jams, screw ups worthy of extortion. etc. My band Karma DeLuxe always does a warm up jam to get things flowing for rehearsal. Sometimes I will go the distance and set up for a multi track, other times i simply hit record on a hand held mini disc recorder or whatever is within reach that can document the free flow of ideas. On this occasion I took a stereo recording of our warm up and went back and added keys. My trusty Kurzweil K2000 triggering an E-Mu Vintage Keys for B3 organ as well as a Roland MKS-20 for vibes. I am playing bass, Dave Aragundi on drums, Marc Espinoza guitar and I believe Paul Mullin arrives late to add more guitar. This is part two of a three part trilogy in the style of Frank Zappa. No loops, but figured you kids would understand and appreciate the Joe's Garage type expression. Heck, you all seem to allow me to try whatever floats my boat anyway. I love this community. Voltage

Description : Demon Lover was a low budget film that made the rounds in the early 70's on the southern drive in theatre circuit. A friend of mine played the role of a detective in the film. He and others involved actually paid to be in the film. The film maker went on to make other notable train wrecks like "Return to Frog Town". A documentary, the making of Demon Lover actually won various awards. In the spring of 2002, I was contacted to put together a sound track for the intro credits for the long awaited...sequel "Demon Lover 2". The drums are from a Creative Labs AWE 64 Gold sound card with Yamaha Sound Fonts. The growling synth is a combination of a Kurzweil K2000 and a Korg M1. The strings are from the M1 and the organ is from an E-Mu Vintage Keys. I actually got the police radio chatter from an Internet broadcast of the LAPD. The car sounds are from a Shelby Cobra recorded with a Crown SASS-P stereo mic. Demon Lover 2 never happened, but I had fun and got another track out of the process.

Description : There has been cause for much inspiration in my musical endeavors. With all the positive encouragement and beautiful expressions of kindness from so many. I took on this track with the goal of creating a piece that expresses my gratitude to those who encourage me to carry on. As the piece developed, I changed course to explore new found emotions. I started out searching for one thing, but found something else along the way. Discovery is it's own inspiration. Without the encouragement of others, I would never have endured to find these new places. Thanks for the inspiration. I am humbled by each and every one of you.

Description : We all experience heartbreak in this life. As I look back, I now realize that some of my deepest artistic creations are a direct result of things not working out as I had hoped. "Acoustic Ladyland" is the result of one of those moments. Composed for the girl of my dreams. I now know I can live without her. Though I believe I could never live without music sweet music.

Broken Man
A Northwest winter wind swept through night
and it chilled John Lee to his very bones
He walks alone in the frozen moonlight
His shadow chasing him home
Down a lonely path through an unlocked door
He wanders in
A faded picture on a dusty shelf looks back at him
Thirteen years a go he took a wife
An angel by the name of Cheryl Ann
Just three years later a drunk driver took her life
It left John Lee a Broken Man
Sometimes at night he hears her voice call his name
He holds her in his heart but it's not the same
Haunted by the memory of Cheryl Ann
John Lee he cries the tears of a Broken Man
Tonight John Lee's decided he's had enough
The heartache hurts too much "I can't go on"
He puts on a record of Cheryl Ann's favorite song
And he loads a shell in his twelve gauge shotgun
in a darkened room he sits alone as the music plays
He turns the gun on himself and he starts to pray
Dear God in heaven forgive me
I Love You Cheryl Ann
John Lee he cries a Prayer of a Broken Man

Description : ACID 4. I know some of my tracks tend to drag on forever, but if you only knew how long this stuff is before I hack out a half hour to patch together something cohesive under 10 minutes you would know that I do care and I do appreciate your patience. Synth samples, guitar, sax loops, drums from my collection. Edited and finished in Sound Forge

Description : Recorded in Real Time.
Kurzweil K2000S with Orchestral ROM for harpsicord, piano, strings, orchestral percussion, more, into 8x8 MIDI patch bay into Alesis D4 for drums, AKAI MPC-60 for Timpani, E-MU Vintage Keys for Melotron and B3, Roland U220 Cello (strings card), Roland MKS 20 for vibes, Korg M1R for deep strings, Proteus 1XR for utility sounds, Yamaha DX7IIFD for that FM thing. All triggered from the K2000S with various velocity settings on each module. Play hard to get the entire orchestras attention. Play dynamic to get a few elements like piano, cello, viola, violins, oboe. Step up to B3, melotron, vibes, orchestral percussion, drum kit, and so forth.
This is my orchestra.
I performed the piece pretty much in a single pass. Though I did do a few edits and I tried to get fancy with a couple over dubbed cartoon riffs at the 3 quarter point.
This is a movement from a piece that goes around 30 minutes. If you are able to hang around till the finale slash pay off, you are my hero.

Description : Playing a Fender Stratocaster over a basic blues progression. Trying out a highly compressed signal through a Rectifier amp model. Also a point of interest for guitarists, I tried using a thumb pick exclusively on this track with some interesting results. Though I did experience a bit of sloppy noise at times, I found that the thumb pick provided a certain rhythmic element to my technique. I shall investigate this technique further. ACID 6 Pro and Sound Forge. Another Soup for Mankind.
