How bout we call this new genre Wash-pick , as the picked guitar sounds wash over you with the phased beats and driving movable bass. Nice work

on Right Place Wrong Century by StaticNomad
Brilliant song, love the synth-fretless bass sounds, as well as the picked guitars, percussion is mixed perfectly. Nice work! In some ways this reminds me of later sounding Japan.(rain tree crow)
StaticNomad
StaticNomad replied 7th Aug 2013 - 12 years ago
OK. I shall check out Rain Tree Crow. Don't think I've heard it though I know some of Sylvian's solo stuff.

The bass isn't actually fretless. Instead I've got it going through my octave pedal which also has an attack control. So it's a slow attack that I guess fools your ears into thinking it's fretless.

I'm not sure there are any picked guitars as I think I played it all just with fingers.

The percussion is good but I'm not happy with it so am still working on an improved version. If only Looperman allowed you to just replace a current song with another (better) version...

HeKler.
Apologies for misunderstanding the lyrics. And yes I listened thoroughly!(ahh) I appreciate your wise and thoughtful approach to my misnomer and hold a deep respect for your calm and mature response. I grew up in NY on Long Island. But I now live in Canada, Montreal to be exact. I am as Lilly white as they come(Irish, German), but I have to say I am so impressed with how it is here in Quebec , Race is just not an issue. And it's awesome. The only disparity is do you speak French or English. You live here and you see the silly differences people have are just plain stupid. To me Religion, especially southern baptist evangelical just perpetuates racism in America. After reconstruction in the south, poor illiterate white people were still looking to belong to something that made them feel superior. They chose Evangelical Christian baptists. They provided the social engine and the delusion that they were better than everyone else. This is still perpetrated by the silly ideas of
Racism, Homophobia,Misogyny and downright rejection of scientific proof of evolution. Other Religions as well follow a similar delusional path, and occasionally I call them out on it. In this case I was wrong, so I apologize. Let the good music flow!

Yeah you did a nice job, musically, and lyrically (consonants on the beats), but metaphorically I am an Atheist and all of this would not even register on my radar as intellectually sound, so you get 2 out of 3. ;-) (psst, we were not created!)
Heklah
Heklah replied 6th Aug 2013 - 12 years ago
Yo, hows it going? I'm so glad you're questioning the content (means you listened), but which bar are you referring to? I think you may have misunderstood it, I never say we were created. "Created to build the social condition", if its this bar, the meaning is surrounding the term social conditioning, i.e making people believe their skin colour is relevant to their ability to do certain things, or be whatever they want. I hope this clears it up, if you have any other comments on my lyrical content please ask away, that's what this music is all about. Peace...

on The Hypnotist - Beautiful Goodbye by Indozizz
Amateur....no this is pro! Excellent. You capture the frequency range perfectly in this arrangement. The sounds are very smooth and the music is written very intelligently, love that change from a minor scale to major at the end of the phrase. This has the clarity to me of a Paul Van Dyk Tune. Truly worthy of a download, which I thank you for your generosity.

on MisanthropY Cycles by deciBel
Love the guitar work, Love that wah wah pedal! The intro is spectacular and I love how the song moves and changes. Be careful in what you look for in humans. If you expect darkness, you will get darkness, if you expect light, you will receive light. Knowing is all the battle. We know some Humans crave power and control above anything else, and those are the ones who gives us trouble in all ofsociety, government and religion. Follow reason and logic and you will prevail my friend, even though it can be frustrating at times! You must achieve Inner peace before you can explore external peace.

thnX aloT Steve , glad to see your possitive idea abouT guitar & this trial .
& beyond music thnx for attention to the title & your perception shared in comment & friendlY attempT to may make my mood better by your words . Steve ,if one daY U felT MisanthropY in yourseid , U'll justifY me abouT this sentence :
'' each Human, beyond & before every thing in his/her life is
a mine of requiremnets & neccesitY..needs & dependencies ''

Steve every year microsofT upgrades its productions by every respects .. in all dimensions ...
now tablets don'T need those several cabels which our old PC
worked with them.. . & laptops have a batterY & doesn'T need to always be connect to plug and socket connection by cable all the times ....buT We , humans( as producer of human ), or hypothetical God of hollyshrine booX(as creator of human) , still product the same human which needs the same requirements & still hasn't somethng like batterY to can charge him/her for several days without food , without water , even without WC...
I think if Bill gates was producting us , for sure the problem of WC was solved so far for humans & at least wasn't needed to human add 250kg( & this is minimum in last designings if U may know )to the weight of every spacecrafTs just cause our astronauts need W.C in their space travelinG too when each kg consumes alot of fuel to can take us to the moon for example ...!and iif there was not these requirements , humans had conquered the Mars for sure so far so easY ...
this is the matter of Misanthropy Steve.
& I mean , I want to run away from myself even when I remember we all are great mines of requiremenTs...who must be charged by food & water & W.C & psychological requirements which U know..thnx alot Steve for worthwhie friendlY words & sharing your perception & thaughT with me & us here &me; & this sound ( sound has sprit I think ) appreciate U for that.take care_____Behnam

Beautiful song, now it's time to remove the phaser chorus effect on your voice, or tone it down 70%, You have an awesome voice, let it shine on this track. It would be so much better with a simple natural sound (light reverb and light chorus).

on Way Beyond Wrong by StaticNomad
What I think I like so much with this track is besides the driving bassline, is the sax treatments with the tape echo effect, reminds me so much of Eno's work with Roxy Music. And then the freaky guitars. If I were producing this I would suggest maybe a few subtle white noise effects in the background to balance out the midrange a bit. This is by no ways a criticism. I think this is one of the most creative tracks musically I have ever encountered on this site. Honestly I loved the bass through the 3 minute mark. The 7:19 just flew bye, love at the very end the chorus effect and modulation on the bass. Very thoughtfully planned out track. 10 out of 10!

Glad you liked it so much. I'm a bit addicted to it too and its weird how the time does fly by. Probably because there's so much going on but there's still quite a bit of space in there for things to breathe. I have to be very disciplined to not put too many elements into my work and am getting better all the time at reducing track length. This one is like a pop single for me as I regularly do 12 min+ and even go up to about 19 mins. Yes, the sax is cool. I partly applied the FX because I didn't have enough varied playing from someone who couldn't be bothered to come back to add anymore. So, I had to use FX to make the notes I did have move about more. I still think the intro sax sections are a little long and repetitive, though I do vary the drums to keep it interesting (making it quite jazzy). The very end 20 or so seconds may actually be my favourite section (along with the first hip hop metal section on 3:36). It's just pure hip hop and I spent ages trying to work out how I could do small things with a few elements to work those rather simple bass and drums. You may be interested to know that the second bass part (lead bass, comes in on 13 seconds and at various other points) is my bass playing chopped up as a REX file and laid out across the keyboard keys. Then I replay the notes from the keys in a way that I wouldn't have done on the bass guitar itself. I should really do this more often, haven't done it in ages. It's such a fun technique (though takes a while to cut up that REX file).

As long as this is not about having to go #2 ;-)
no seriously I'm here all week....... Outstanding mix, it's a compact nice tune that has great balance, I love the bass-line. You capture sounds in a wide space of frequencies. And the chill vibe to this makes great a listening experience, great job!
