on Mssing You by ManderinMuzick
really funky beat. love what you did that sample. the beat provided a good complement to it, giving it an 80s pop feel.

Nice track, man. First guy sounds like SwizZz. The lyrics are cool and so is the beat.

Oviea91,

Thank you for listening. I don't think I know who SwizZz is, I'll have to do my research. I appreciate your feedback.

on Stormy stepper by Prelude
It almost sounds like you sampled a symphony. Also, I like that one jazzy sax in the beginning. Nice progression throughout. Feels like a musical journey. Nice!

Haha. I'm glad you liked the track. It's something waaaay different from my usual. It's not where I want it to be, but I'm amazed I got this far with it. So it's a win in my book :p

Thanks for your comments. Always appreciated.

on You Are Never Forgotten by crucethus
I agree with, GregVincey. The jazz piano adds a nice touch to the piece. It provides higher frequency melodies to the instrumental and makes it feel whole. Nice work.

crucethus replied 5th Apr 2016 - 9 years ago
Thanks you, balancing the frequencies and tone of the instruments is important to me in my mixes.

on I Fall Down v2 by Spivkurl
I like how you mixed your vocals. It doesn't get lost in the production. I don't think the mix is too crowded, but to add on to what crucethus wrote, I would mix this by centering the vocals and panning the rest of the instruments to one side or the other and give the vocals a touch of reverb, to give it a spacious feeling. But, overall, I think this is novelty and a fun song to listen to. I'm not sure what inspired the lyrics, but it has a slight morbid feel to it lol
Spivkurl
Spivkurl replied 24th Apr 2016 - 9 years ago
Thank you for listening and leaving your words, it means a lot to me. It's interesting, the reactions to the mix, because the things you mentioned have already been done in this mix... aside from panning "the rest of the instruments," as I basically never pan bass and kick drums, except for temporary effects. I'm pretty happy with how the mix is now. As far as the inspiration for the lyrics, it is mostly a combination of two things... specifically, it is my tendency toward having seizures on a fairly regular basis. Epilepsy and similar disorders were often referred to as "the falling disease" in ancient times. And, more generally, the words refer to failures, both large and small. I found the "I fall down" line to be a good simple representation of admittance of failure. I'm happy that you enjoyed listening. Thank you again!

nice job. you know. i dont think i needed to understand the vocalist because the muddiness on the vocals add to the haunting, yet light feel of the track. nice

nice compilation of instruments going on. you said they were real? nice. nice lyrics
TeeGee1965
TeeGee1965 replied 28th Mar 2016 - 9 years ago
Yes, guitar, bass, drums are all real - and the rap of course. The only "plastic" is the keys in the background and the scratch loop. I actually managed to create some scratching noises on my guitar, but they were not good enough yet so I used something else. Thanks for listening :)

on No Name by TinyFinger
you can tell a musician is on the right track when he cares more about the actual project than its title. and you didn't disapoint. reminds me of the old rock and roll... 90s style... almost Nirvana-ish mixed with a little bit of something else. i dunno lol

on You Are Never Alone by Spivkurl
i swear youre gettin better at this, dude. the electronics along with your voice reminds me of daft punk. now i gotta listen to the tape! lol
Spivkurl
Spivkurl replied 1st Apr 2016 - 9 years ago
Hey buddy! Hope all is well with you! It's nice of you to say that... I wonder if I'm getting better, or if I'm just getting more capable (which is often little to do with proficiency). It's hard to tell. I've actually never listened to a whole Daft Punk album, and couldn't name one of their songs to save my life. Seemed like they were popular in the late nineties... around that time, I had no TV, no computer, no radio, no phone... just a wife, a turntable and a slum to live in. So it's all kind of non-existent from that era. Since then I've tried to listen, but it never worked out. Maybe I should try again? You listen to tapes?! That's awesome! I've been digging out my old tapes and collecting more recently. I just love the experience and the tone. Thank you so much for always checking out my stuff!

Thanks! There will be more of that coming, I am trying to do more hiphop flavoured tracks using real guitars, drums and bass + hot raps and some loops on top :)
