on Thankful by FastFunghi
haven't heard a dub track for a while so i thought i'd give this one a whirl.
I'm glad i did because it's not your usual dub track. The style is deffo dub but the sounds you've used give it a really modern twist.
Love the glitchy samples and the sounds you've used.
I'm not just glad this is my first listen of the evening, i'm really bloody impressed as well.
Nice one.

on lets forget about my inconvincible father by ElenaSatine
It's an expression that gets over used in my opinion, but this really does ROCK!!!
It's heavy, grungy and a little bit folky at the same time.
You say you want a beat added to it. Why not just go to the loop section and look for some drum loops? There's literally hundreds of them.
Failing that i guess i could have a go but it sounds like a pretty challenging piece and it could take a while.
Great work here, i'm pleased i listened to this.

on Exitium by johnnyproducing
Thought i'd drop by to see what all the fuss was about. 50 downloads usually means something pretty special and i'm liking what i'm hearing so far.
Nice trancey intro that progresses into easily the fattest bassline i've heard today.
I've never tried making this stuff but it sounds like it must take bloody ages to get everything right and you've got some seriously good ideas.
I think i'm going to have to make it 51 downloads now.
F**KING EXCELLENT TRACK!!!

on don-t stop by arashsinghbagri
I hate seeing a track with no comments so i thought i'd home in on this one.
It's definitely more trance than house but i dig the vibe.
I would have prefered it if that phased thing had been panned more to the centre so i could hear it in both ears.
Can't understand why nobody's commented on this yet as it's pretty well mixed and has good samples, efx and vibe.
Nice one.

on Dark Heart by Anubis
I like the strange filtered intro. This is pretty far out sounding and would go great in a sci fi movie or something.
It's not at all what i was expecting so i have to say well done on an original and gripping piece.
Glad i dropped in.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to this piece.
I appreciate your comments, thanks for the support here.
I think this song was my first attempt in the genre.

on Psychedelic Erotica by JJWeekz
Psychadelic erotica sounds right up my street so i thought i'd give this one a whirl. Love the intro, reminds me a little of pink floyd.
Everything is splendidly mixed but why ony one and a half minutes? I was just getting into it then it faded out.

on the kinda guy u like by rAyLoU
Well R&B aint my genre of choice so i'm probably not the best to comment.
The lyrics are good but the vocal sounds slightly out of key to me.
Other than that it's not a bad track.

on Can You Feel Me ft KnowKontrol by RealProblemShuckers
Liking this mate. The bassline is wicked (what sound is that?)
The vocal sits nicely over the top and it gets your head nodding in a mellow trance like way.
This is a top notch piece of house music with excellent chords and synths to boot.
Definitely going in my favs.

on Acoustic Guitar with Talking African Drum by UChris
Nice piece, It's got a really natural kind of jam sound to it.
As oxygenfree said the flute hangs in there perfectly and the whole piece is just pleasant on the ears (not like the stuff i make lol)

on The Bigger The Fatter The Better by StaticNomad
I'm smiling to myself because the tracks half way through and i've only just finished reading the track description. You certainly don't hold back on details S.N. and the same seems to apply to your tunes as well.
This one is very ozric tentacles in places and damn good. It's pretty heavy but soft at the same time (a complete tautology but thats the best i could come up with)
I like the way you pick up the pace then drop it back down again.
Do you play everything yourself or do you borrow loops as well?
Whatever you do you're very talented and your work rate is pretty phenomenal as well. I seem to spy a new track from you most days.
Good stuff mate.

StaticNomad replied 23rd Apr 2014 - 11 years ago
Yes - I give extensive track descriptions, track reviews and replies. I have a lot to say about music and can type quite fast.

It annoys me when people give hardly any details in their track descriptions so I then have to ask and then comment again once they've replied and given me the info. But they don't always reply.

I didn't think of the Ozrics at all as regards this one but I guess maybe it's some of the slightly eastern guitar parts that remind you of them.

"pretty heavy but soft at the same time"

Not quite sure what to make of that. There are various clean and undistorted parts and I do give it peaks and troughs so that it's not just one heavy mindfuck. And breaking things down always give you the chance to build them back up again.

It's definitely much heavier in terms of guitar and drums than the Ozrics though their stuff is way heavier in terms of psychedelia. Not one of my more far out tracks. I've kind of focused on the heaviness and only stuck in a few far out elements.

Yes, I play everything myself. The main exception is drum loops. I used to use more of them but have no real need these days as I love my drum programming software (Superior).

While I have no need, I do still use drum loops for the particular flavour they give. But I tend to augment them with intricate programmed acoustic drums too.

Very, very few other samples in my music as I decided a long time ago that I was good enough to make it all myself and that way I'd come up with my own distinctive stuff and would have things in my tracks that no one else had.

"your work rate is pretty phenomenal"

Yes and no. I'm actually a slow worker, for a number of reasons. The 40 or so tracks I've uploaded here in the last 10 months have been made over many years though almost all significantly updated and improved in the last year or two.

Getting a much faster PC and that awesome drum software and just generally getting better with EQ has helped so much.

I'm certainly not knocking out these lengthy, intricate epics every few days. I wouldn't even want to as I like spending lots of time with tracks and just enjoying luxuriating in all the riffs as I explore some of the many possibilities each offers.

Thanks for your thoughts - honest and interesting perspectives are always appreciated.

on Progress The Lethal Weapon diss track by hanginghighguy
Hip hop aint really my bag but this is seriously bloody good mate. I hear a lot of middle of the road stuff in this genre, on this site but this is a cut above the rest.
You definitely know your style and it shines through with bags of talent.
Best hip hop tune i've heard in a long while so two thumbs up for you dude.
This was a pleasure to listen to.

on BOLLYWOOD STYLE by arashsinghbagri
This is a nice track mate but it's definitely not electro. I'd say it's more chill out/break beat.
I like the pads that you've used they add a good atmosphre to the track but i reckon it needs to be a little longer. 2 minutes and 45 seconds is only half a track in my opinion.
Still, i like the flange effects on the drums and on the whole i like it. Add a bit more and it will be a great track.

Peace!

on I dont need you featuring Stephanie Kay by RichieWinn
Hey Richie, Long time no speak (I needed a break from music so it's certainly not personal that i've not been around)
Anyway, I'm wondering why you're still posting stuff on this site when clearly you should be getting air time on the radio.
You've done bloody marvelous with that acapella, the mix is spot on and your talent is off the scale.
I wish i was into more commercial stuff when i listen to your tracks because people love this kind of thing.
You are uber good mate.

on Dellaa - Soft Clang by dellaa
Well Hip hop isn't really my bag so i find it tough to comment on this kind of stuff.
It's got some nice reverberated efx and the drum pattern/melody are nice.
I would have liked to have heard a little more variation but other than that it's a nice riff.

on love is strong in a women by adamms
This is really fun. That sampling is wicked and the music is funky as hell.
Love what you've done with the percussion on the track and it's mixed better than one of james bonds martinis.
Excellent drum work and it's iteresting to hear that "i want to lick your brains" sample used in a totally different context to how i used it.
Great work.

This is super mellow. Those pads sound heavenly and soothing.
This kind of music can really fix your head if you've been having a rough day.
I think you've just fixed mine.
This is a very intelligent and well put together piece of music.
Tranquil and then some.
Cheers for chilling me out.

on Malcolm x by bone0112
I was hooked from the intro and the rest of the piece is superbly mixed.
I'm pretty clueless about hip hop but i know a good track when i hear one.
The samples are really hard hitting and meaningfull.
If you could find an acapella to chop up and add a few lyrics to compliment the samples that would be the icing on the cake.
Great track.

Well i'm no hip hop expert but this is really chilled.

I Like the floaty pads that carry through the track and the synths are good as well.

It could use some vocal work but aside from that it's a good and original sounding track.

on Lets Start To Play by ScottFranco
Well i'm no expert on funk but this is pretty darn cool.
Love the percusssive section, the keyboards, the bassline and the guitar.
It's got a kind of Carlos Santana vibe to it and goes very well with the sunny weather that we're having at the moment (Well, we were at least anyway)
Dig this track.
One suggestion, You should drop out some of the low end on the reverb you used on the vocals. It would add a bit more clarity.
Other than that it's a hot track.

on The Cure - Lullaby - COVER - feat Spivkurl by JoyfulWAVE
Hey dude! Long time since i've seen your avatar come up.
I loved the cure back in the day and this is a really wicked version.
It's a bit like the cure vs new order or something.
I was always a big fan of this track so it's nice to hear a new take on it.
Oddly enough just the other day i was thinking about trying a remix of the cure's "love song"
Spivcurls done a great job with the vocals.
Your mixing is dead on as usual but the track is definitely not what i would have expected from you (and that's meant as a compliment)

Well i'm probably the worst person in the world to review a hip hop track as it's not really a genre i dabble in much.

on Dub Message prod by Dubstruction by SubFreq
Well i'm no expert on dubstep but the sounds you've used in this are FAT!!
The mix is good but i would have liked to have heard the vocals over the top of the heavy stabbing sounds. Then like i say, i'm no expert at this genre and it kept me listening all the way through to see what was going to happen next.
Nice vocal work.

on Outside Looking In by Cestevens1783
A couple of bars in and i'm already feeling less anxious and more relaxed which is exactly what i could use at the moment.
Your piano riffs are excellent and compliment the string, xylophone?? and percussion sections perfectly.
I love this kind of stuff but whenever i try to make it it usually ends up turning into something more hectic.
Love the big floaty pads you used and thanks for helping me to find a calmer mood.

Liking this already. It's kind of like slow trance or something.
Lovely melody and the blend of different sounds is superb.
I like the way you shift the parts from one thing to another but yet manage to keep the vibe of the track flowing.
This is a very clever piece of music and i like it.
Great piece of work Mr Wiggles.

on Tears Of A Beast by Cyberliam
I can tell you were feeling moody when you wrote this, it's very dark and twisted. I thought the intro could have been a little shorter but the track itself is good.
I don't really know what category you would place this in. It's kind of break beat but more scary.
Dig the piano lick that comes in towards the final part of the track and the production is spot on.
This is an original piece and well worth listening to.
