The beats on this remind me of some action movie (like the stuff that plays during the intro of the main characters or during the outro, post climax when the lead is making either the mission statement of his/her group, the film, or is announcing their version of "Happily ever-after"). And despite the somewhat slower flow of the synths on this I think that it creates an interesting dynamic to the fast paced drums. In a way, creating a sort of Lounge-ish vibe to the song. As if the song itself is a duality (like the epidermis of skin or water-table, separating gas from liquid... inside from outside). In a way, it's as if you've captured the voice of contemplation here. Creating a soundtrack for our inner-monologues (or firing neural synapses... which gave me a thought, since they're electrical impulses, I wonder what sort of sound they produce, if any). Cool stuff here mate. Would make for a great video. Lates!

Thanks for great comments man, the communication thing is an interesting subject, I actually started off with electronic music somewhere along the line of asking myself the same question, + rounding it otherwise too - any sound must have an effect we just don't know about yet. Btw I sadly lost half of that song recently, but I see what you mean with your tips, my latest project, was not goa related but hip hop/dubstep kinda thing, found this great pella and...
couldn't finish it since :)

Play 2 now...

There's bits of this that remind me of early Daft Punk stuff, especially the synth that accompanies the bass. Though the drumwork outshines them by a mile. Makes me think of what it'd be like if Josh Wink were to get into IDM Breaks, ya know? And the bass (or low end guitar?) gives it a Industrial feel. This would be great to play some THPS to. Saved/faved. Lates!

Thanks for stopping by to listen to Valley! I'm not too familiar with Daft Punk's stuff, but I appreciate the comparison. I can see what you mean about Josh Wink too. Definitely an industrial vibe to this track in parts. I don't know what THPS is, but I hope you have fun playing to this song! Thanks for the review and the fave!

Play 2 now...

If yer wife was thinkin along the lines of old 50 foot atomic death bots, then I could see why she'd think this was scary. Coz I kinda get this vibe of being chased by some killin machine... If that machine was built like a Buick. I think it has something to do with the monotonous sound of that one guitar at the beginning (makes me think of either stomping feet or lazer fire or dare I say, electro-shock therapy... doing the "Lightswitch Raver").
This is such a groovin lil track... And it even sounds as if it uses that sound font I discussed in that other review. It works perfectly here IMO. The only thing that I think is off is the name... Mainly in relation to the first paragraph I wrote. Though that's completely "Toemaytoe-toemahtoe", because just because I'm thinkin of homocidal mechanisms don't mean the next person will. Ah ha, and there's my "Clarity", haha. Later on!

Interesting stuff mate. Don't know all that much about Dubstep, but this isn't like any of the other stuff I've heard in that genre. Sounds kinda urban, but I dunno whether I'd be inclined to call it hiphop or R&B, though I could see some vocalist going crazy with this. And the title made me laugh, coz I could see Dave Chappelle doing some Chuck Taylor skit where he'd revisit the Al Roker character doing the weather and bust out sayin- "It's a Grime Wave, b*tch. Yo @$$ is gonna get robbed. I just saw Tron mug a dog. Run nukka, run! I'm outta here, I quit... Again. Again? Why the helle did I agree to come back? Screw yall, I'm headed for tha hills!" Wait, what... Where am I (haha). Nice one mate. Lates!

I feel your pain mate, in relation to the "delete before saving" thing. I've only experienced it really bad like twice (where I lost over half of the song & all of the new work). That's why these days I try to save about every 5 to 10 minutes or so. Dunno when/if the computer or program's gonna wanna crap out n crash on ya (also, having an external HD for backing up is also a good idea). Another trick I do to avoid losing work is to create the loops I use in one program and arrange them in another program (that way, if the working file is messed up or lost I still have the Wavs to rebuild the track). The last tip I got might seem goofy, but it can be a life saver (or a really great learning/teaching tool later). When I'm getting super complex with my mixes I'll open WordPad and create a text document where I can take notes on what I've done where (ie, percs loop 2- effects used; Delay, mod 2, level 4, rate 1, clean... or channel 9- Vol -4.5, pan 25% left, FX1 Chorus, FX2 none).
Sorry for the nerdy geek-squad babble there. Lets talk about the track now...
I recognize that synth key sequence from somewhere (just can't put my finger on it at the mo'... FL Studios or Logic Pro, maybe?). 'Tis cool, I can see why ya used 'em (though in a way they serve to fool people into thinking the track is gonna go 1 way when it goes in another). I like the way it progresses into those long pronounced strings once the vocals kick in. And the wobbly bass on this is a pretty nice touch. As were the effects and choppin ya threw onto the vocals to sorta match 'em. The drums're cool too (kinda remind me of one of the tracks on the Tetrisphere sndtrk for some reason). Downside is that I wish there was a bit more on the low-end with 'em (to make it a 'thumpa', ya know). Beyond that this is a pretty solid composition mate. Lates!

wow what a great review... I hear you man. you present me with some good lil tips and tricks there.. It's not the first time it's happened to me either lol.. i may go for the external harddrive option.. I think it would be a good pur chase.. With regard to the synth key sequence i used a preset sequenced synth from reason, so if any one has reason they are gonna used that bad boy at one time or another.. thanks for the detailed review.. always appreciated.. I may take the track on a whole and pop it in reason to sort the low end out like you suggested.. see what i can come up with.. thanks again for the review there dude really means a lot

This might be short, but I'm thinkin that it'd be the perfect lil interlude between tracks on an album. And it doesn't even have to be a music CD, because for some odd reason this is reminding me of that one lil musical skit that was on the Dennis Leary album Lock'N'Load (something about a dinner reception for deaf people, I think). Or even for other media purposes (a commercial {particularly for resorts or restaurants}, or a show's theme song, or those "We'll be right back" messages). Just some food for thought if you were thinking about doing something with this. Lates!

Thanks Donnie. It's short, it's an interlude I think. I never heard that DL skit but I'l keep my ears out for it!

I sent this to Shadowdog Productions and they liked it and told me they could use it somewhere in one of their projects, audioplay, maybe a film if I'm lucky!!

Thanks,

I don't really have any vocal ideas for this that I'd do, but I did have a really sweet idea for this. I'm thinkin that this would sound killer if you were to incorporate some kids singin on this (kinda like Jay-z did on Hard Knock Life). For some odd reason the sweet way this song starts is what caused that to pop in my head. Beyond that I really dig all the lil drum breakdowns ya threw in here. And as for the scratches, hmm. I sorta like 'em, but do see what that one dood was sayin. Perhaps if ya toned down their volume just a tad to have them be slightly under the overall vol of the main mix (like -1 or -1.5 or something). Other than that I thought this was pretty jammin. Play 2 now...

Tres kudos plus for the revo treatment on here. I've got to admit that out of the intermediate tricks bag it's one of my favorite ones to play with. And I've also got to admit that the lil break down starting @ around 1:38 is a nice touch. Though I dunno how I feel about the synths that come in when the song starts building up again (maybe its just the sound font that ya used for it, shrugs). I love those subdued pads (?) you've got going on, because they remind me of an old car (one of those huge boat-mobiles like a Buick) idling in a driveway. Which I guess help add meaning to the song's name. And the chilled nature of this (plus the reversing) is why I'm gonna save and fave this one. Thanks for sharing mate. Later on!

Ain't married, but can see the picture you were trying to paint with this. My mind's going back to a couple of Exes from the past. Kinda like sayin- "Baby, here I want you to listen to something! _Fill_in_the_blank_next_sentence." Coz there are times when words aren't necessary... And I know that you know, that I know that... Wait, what were we talking about again? Oh yeah (trails off mumbling to self).
I think you whipped up a pretty powerful track here, holmes. My only complaint is that its as short as it is ('twould be nicer if it were a lil longer). Maybe you could do some kind of prolonged outro with a solo'd instrument (like some take-off of the Piano's middle notes). Anyways, that's all I got. Cool stuff!

Side note, why'd ya delete outta curiousity? I remembered your old SN and was just thinking that you had opted to change it before I read the description of this. Don't gotta answer if ya don't wanna. Alright lemme check out the song now.

Play 2 now...

This def has a very soulful quality to it. Kinda reminds me of some of MJ's older stuff (late 80s R&B/Pop). Which is an interesting twist because usually when I think religious my mind either goes to Gospel or the holiday Hymnals. Making it nice and contemporary. In keeping with what you see sometimes on the Christian channels when they do the music hour.
On the tech side, I think the Piano is what I like the most about this. And the strings and horns do a nice job of accentuating them. The drums are cool too, though I'd think about maybe changing them to something softer (like a Jazz brush kit). They'd flow better with the overall vibe I'm thinkin. Other than that this is a pretty solid composition ya made mate. Cheers!

The audio quality on this is interesting. Was it an effect you added or just the way you ended up recording it? Either way they do a great job of complimenting the vocal chant stuff you've got on here. Makes me think of a mix between some ride at Disney (like "A Small World") and one of those DDR arcade games. And I dunno why, but for some odd reason I think this'd make for a really cool ring tone, ya know? Interesting stuff mate. Lates!

Haha, "Let's get computing!". It amazes me how corny those old instructional vinyls could be at times. Though I guess that's what adds that timeless quality to 'em. As for the track it reminds me of a mix between Mr. Ozio and Techmaster P.E.B.
On the tech side, ya might wanna watch yer levels on this because for parts of it sounds like there's some clipping going on. Other than that this is a pretty solid mix. Lates!

Nice blend of styles here mate. And I dunno why, but for some odd reason I am reminded of that rival gang in the movie Break-in 2: Electric Boogaloo and that one scene where they have the battle under that bridge. Anyways, moving on- I think ya did a pretty good job at pairing the two together. And for a second I was half-tempted to ask ya what kind of effects ya threw onto the vocals until I saw that you wrote that they were raw in the description (perhaps that question needs to be directed @ Sireone). The grittiness of this also reminds me of the UK underground scene (parts of it atleast). Taggers doing graffiti who turn out to be Freerunners fleein from the cops. Nicely done mate. Lates!

Hi, I'm very glad you commented because this is one of my own favorite tracks and I'm surprised to receive such little feedback. Anyhow, to answer the question about the vocal-It's fully uncut and unedited in it's structure, YET it Is in fact edited with effects in reason 4. The effects are multiple and vary through out the track in their gain/application method, but the base for all of the tiny tweaks, was to FIRST put the scream distortion (overdrive) on it, and THEN add some reverb -i can't recall the patch. This is my common setup, for working with vocals, of course varying in it's installment. It gives that metallic twitch to the vocal and makes it stand out, without totally desecrating the tone of the voice. he-he i hope this makes it clearer. I got fined for doing graffiti once (5000 euros), and that's how that scene ended for me :)-also I never seen the movie but now I got a reason to live another day, gonna look it up. thanks a lot for your comment,
Lev/Neon.

I always find it interesting where our inspiration comes from. Yours is a good example. Here's mine- a long, long time ago I was inspired to make a waltz-ish glitch tune after sitting outside n smoking a cig and hearing something banging around in a nearby dryer.
Getting back to this track, I'm really digging the fluctuating synth action you've got going on here. 'Specially when mixed with that jet take-off SFX. And the percs add a nice touch, me thinks. Though I'll be honest, it'd be nice to hear a bit more on the lower end of things (like some pumping bass action to come in and compliment the bass that's already there). Other than that this is a pretty interesting composition mate.

NeonStrawberry replied Unknown
thnx for the comment D, you're most probably right about the track being on the shallow side, thats how it was intended, as a quite empty route to expand a new theme from, which to be honest didnt get very far yet, except for utilizing a few noises from here. as for inspiration, i'd really like to point out for everyone that it's a myth, of course depending on your beliefs, but I say everyone already has everything of his/her complete package at birth and so inspiration doesn't play any role in creation, sorry if you find it disappointing, its merely my point of view. I prefer a fairly hedonistic approach, but while denying it's existence, i do have moments of inspiration myself, its just that they feel to come from the deeper self, rather than anything in our, -illusion? hehe- philosophy I find great, existentialism can get you far but Im at the point where existentialism is where I end up when i feel empty, mhm, picking up my little sister from school, casual use of drugs when alone, mastering mind over matter techniques is mostly what sets off the drive to create in me, as for a few things, while things like trying to create a model of sustainable, resource based existence on this planet and study of most random subjects within the fields of psychology, science and mysticism provide me with ideas often. Remove this comment if you don't like its size or content, but im always open to speak about such interesting subjects and find discussions upon these, healthy. Another great part of what one might call my inspiration would be life experience, with me it's quite impactful at my relatively young age i guess, experiences which i wont get into on this page. Write me an email or something I'll be really glad to talk about this and curious to know more about what you think your inspiration consists of, if you still think such thing exists. Been traveling lately, gonna check out ye page now, traveling by the way is something i enjoy more than making music. peace out, perhaps we'll clutch in the forums in the near future on some interesting discussion! peace,
Lev.

I'm really diggin the vibe of this. And when I looked at the length I was like "WOW", because it isn't often that I see mixes of this length on here (a scant handful, myself included).
On the tech side, one major downside is that there's alot of clipping going on (so I can't really crank it up like I enjoy doing for these reviews). So I'd definitely go back and adjust the levels (particularly on the low end and just a tad on the high side). If ya need/want any pointers or help feel free to hit me with an email and I'll share my tips & tricks with you.

Side note- If you the loop you used from here still has the same name it had when you downloaded it you should be able to search for who made it via either set of numbers (member id & loop number).
As for the song, genre-wise I agree with DFury, because it seems like this one is all over the place. The vibe of the synths is def laid back, but the drums (though nice) are making me think that it isn't exactly Ambient. The beat has a little too much energy for it to be, and they're too fast to be House (maybe breaks or drum&bass, shrugs). Perhaps Dance or Fusion might better suit it, I dunno. Moving past that...
I'd say that my favorite part of this is the key treatment (slow and paced), 'specially when paired with those crazy drums.
Technically speaking, ya might wanna watch yer levels when you're playing the keys at higher notes (seems like they're on the verge of clipping). Otherwise, this sounds like a pretty solid composition. Thanks for sharing mate. Lates!

Play 2 now...

Interesting lil tune ya whipped up here (cool description too). Quick question though, does 'Wega' mean 'Vega', or was it just somethin yer imagination cranked out for this?
On the tech side, I'm digging the overall composition, but for some odd reason don't feel that the vocals (or effects placed on them) match the song's vibe. Perhaps it's a matter of personal preference, but I think they'd sound nicer at a slightly higher octave (something that would match the whispered part at the end better, ya know). Ooh, here's a perfect example... Remember the movie Titan AE? And the scene where they're in the ship getting chased by the Wake Angels (the song that was playing during that sequence- think along those lines). Also, maybe think about making this like a minute longer or so. Otherwise, this was jammin mate. Cheers!

I'm thinkin yer on the right track with the way ya doin yer vocals. The only thing I'm thinkin is that ya might wanna mess with the effects that you added to your vox. You could go a few ways with that. Like you could try removing the FX from most of yer stuff and only use 'em to accentuate certain verses (sprinkled here & there). Or you could go crazy with 'em by adding one or two more (givin it more of a Lil Wayne vibe). Otherwise, I'm thinkin this was pretty straight. Dunno why, but those chants remind me of the film Emerald Forrest (check it out if ya haven't already). I agree with Blume, in that I could easily see this going in a few other directions, remix-wise. Something kinda dub-stepy or whatev. Only suggestions I could make are maybe makin the second set of vocals lower and more pronounced to punch out the bass on 'em (and maybe adding a bassdrop or bassride along side of 'em or right after to kinda mark a new segment of the song).
