Hmm, I'm thinkin that this track is soundin alright, but do agree that it needs something. Perhaps, what it needs is some effects and such placed over the entire song. Like throw on some filters and have 'em come in and out with their strength. Maybe add some slight reverb to the entire thing to give it a sense of depth. And adding some fades and accent changes would be keen too. Other than that this has a pretty nice groove to it. Just needs a lil extra juice and you'll be good to go. Keep bangin 'em out mate. Later on!

Hey man.
Yeah, I'm thinking about completely redoing this song. This was an early attempt at dubstep, and I didn't know too much about the structure etc, so I do think although this is a good start, it really needs to be redone.
Thanks for the review.
Peace.

Actually, I'm kinda reminded of some daytime court shows when I hear this (like the People's Court on acid). Though it does have a sorta retro 70s vibe with the guitar stuff that makes me think of the San Francisco level of the PS1 game Driver (if you ever played it). Dunno if I'd call this Jazz though, maybe Fusion (because of the mix of different sounds). Interesting stuff mate. Later on!

Haha, dude that's brilliant. I see exactly where you're coming from.
And I get you about the genre, dude.
Thanks for the input.

is it supposed to end suddenly like that or is it currently unfinished? I dig all the funky lil synth sounds you've got on this, but would love it if you went deeper and darker with the bass (possibly even adding some male vocals, like Trav has vocoded on one of his latest tracks, Forget the War, I think). Or just throw in some heavy kick on the drums periodically. Or, or, interlace the two hop-scotch style (kick, kick, kick, kick- bass, bass, bass, bass- empty slot- kick, bass, kick, bass- bass, bass, kick, bass- empty slot- repeat however). Keep bangin it out mate. Later on!

I'll agree that this track was rolled very superbly with clarity and everything mixing together well. Even at higher volumes this keeps its crispness (though on my system the highs clip just a little, but that's probably just the speakers that I'm using). And though I can tell you put alot of thought and energy into this track I've got to gig you on one thing. There's not enough variety in this. And that can be easily fixed I'm thinkin, because this track lends itself very well to fueling the vocal side. So as a song by itself it's kind of ho-hum, but as an instrumental it's top notch. I would absolutely love to hear like 2 or 3 rappers goin to town on this. Why not put it out there for a collab and see what becomes of it (or connect up with some of your friends who wanna lay some stuff down)? Sorry if any of that seemed harsh. Wasn't my intent to be. Keep 'em comin mate. Later on!

Before I review I gotta comment on something- 72 plays, 2 favs, and no reviews... What gives people? Sheesh, I tell you, laziness (shakes head). Now let's listen to the track.

Quick question mate, is there supposed to be an additional 25 seconds after the end of this song? Anyways, nice juicy swells in this and it kinda reminds me of Electro-symph mixed with a touch of French House. Kinda like if Gigi D'Agostino, Daft Punk, and Kraftwerk collab'd on something. And for some odd reason I wanna suggest throwing some Beethoven stuff in here at certain parts (not really talking about the pronounced stuff, but the more subtle sides of his compositions, like the harps that're barely heard over the full string ensemble). Kinda like throwing some really love pads n humming basslines in to accentuate the more constant parts (have them fade out just enough to where the low vol pads n stuff can be heard). Nicely done mate. Later on!

What bitrate did you convert it at mate? I'm getting these buzzy pops mixed with fluxuating tone changes that come when it's too low. I kinda feel bad because I can't really give you the in-depth kind of feedback you were wanting for this.
Though from what I can hear I really like the melody of the guitar here and am thinkin that it'd be really sweet if they had some accompanying piano (and if ya really wanna go epic with it some rich, sweeping strings too). As for the vocals, I'm thinkin that you could do 'em yourself, but what I'd recommend is that you record them separately from the mix so that way you can duplicate 'em (for extra volume & depth) and you can experiment with adding effects on some extra copies of 'em. For style and sound quality think of Jakob Dylan's style when he was with the Wallflowers, like Sixth Avenue Heartache maybe). And I'm thinkin that drums are completely optional for this type of track, but if ya do add 'em think of the Smashing Pumpkins' style on Tonight Tonight. And I'm outtie 5000. Later on!

(update)
Naw, I'm still getting those sounds mate. Hmm, maybe it has to do with the frequency that you rendered this at (is it 44khz or...?). Coz these extra sounds shouldn't occur @ higher than 96 Kbps. And twastn't a problem for the other thing. Lates again!

Hey man.....i think youv just solved my problem for me!! i was converting at 192 but iv just uploaded it again at 128...i dont know much about bit rate but that should be ok rite?
Thanks for a really great review man i will defo look into all the things youv asked me too! youv been a great help!!..let me know if this track works properly please m8!!
Thanks mate!!

(update)
Hey man..ye its at 44khz....its wierd..my tracks have always done this wierd think with some people..and i have no idea why..it plays fine with some..then not soo fine with others.

What software do you use to convert to mp3? il try getting that and see if that works

Kinda dealin with the same issues as before (the last track I reviewed and the clipping stuff). Though I really dug the acid bass stuff ya had on here. Yet, unlike the previous one I'm not feelin the vocal samples ya had on here (dunno why though). And my only idea for this one would be to drop the hat ride and let it just be the bass drum and snares for a bit of the song. Keep bangin it out mate. Later on!

Sounds like ya might wanna watch yer levels when ya go to re-master this (because it sounds like it's clippin mostly at these ranges 170 and 13k, just fool around with bringin the volume levels down a little). Beyond that I really dug the melody on this and am thinkin some female vox would really do 'em justice. Am thinkin also that this needs a bit more bass to help balance out the overall mix. Ooh, if ya wanna give it an extra ethnic/worldly sound try to find some Didgeridoo loops to serve as a layer bridge between what you've got now and whatever you'd add on top of 'em. Great start mate. Keep bangin it out. Later on!

Ya might want to work on re-mastering this because it starts clipping at the higher volume levels (mainly with the higher frequency stuff). If you're using the program that I think you are it's really easy. Just open up the Mixer and drop everything down to between 9, 6, and 3. While leaving the master volume the same. Once done there and have saved the file, you can open up the Master application and fool around with the different presets. I do that on my stuff every now and then.
Getting back to the song, it's kinda like some funky House off-shoot. And I really dug the variation ya put in this (especially the drums). Kinda kept me guessin as to which was you were going to take it next. Cheers!

I really loved the breakish percussive stuff ya had on here and the organ parts too reintroduced around the same time. To me the track really started to take off there, it's a shame that ya ended it when you did, because it would've really been nice to hear the way it would progress out. I also dug the little female vocal stuff ya had on here and the entire area between 1:00 and 2:00 was packed full of cool stuff. Cheers, part 2!

Hmm, I'm actually gonna go in a direction you probably wouldn't expect. Instead of trying to have this be a Dance track why not go in a more Cinematic and Classical route. And there's I'd recommend dropping the drums, adding an extra layer of strings that match that match the bassline in this, and maybe swap out the synthy sounding bass for a matched mix of Cello/Sax/Trumpet. For the horns (if ya add em) do a mixture of French Horn and Trumpet, but have 'em go in a more floating and flighty direction from the rest of the song (think Mozart's style here). For the perc side, add some chimes and some Timpani. Okies, I'm gonna stop now. Later on!

Quick question mate, where'd you get the vocal sample used on this?
Play 2 now...
The bass on this kinda reminds me of some of the stuff done by Brain Bashers. Though I'm thinkin that ya might wanna go a bit darker/harder with the soundfont of the bass. At the same time ya might also wanna turn down the high side of the drums along with bumpin up the levels on the vocals, because they sound a bit low compared to the rest of the mix. Nice for your first try. Keep bangin away at it mate. Later on!

Quick question mate- is there supposed to be a 10 second silent gap at the end?
As for the track, I loved the female vocals (very freestyle-esque), but wasn't too keen on the guy's stuff (because I felt that the style of 'em conflicted with the other vox and they sounded quite compared to both her voice and the rest of the mix). And I thought the interplay of the basic classic bassline with the synth leads was keen. On the other hand, the shooting star-like sounds ya had here and there were a bit too pronounced in the mix. So I'd go back n tweak those aspects of the song. Overall it was a pretty cool composition. Thanks for sharing mate. Later on!

Really cool usage of percs on this mate. And I'm really diggin the bassline on this. And I LOLd at the vocal sample. The only thing that I think could make this track any sweeter is if ya added some nice hoover synth leads for this. Or somethin like an Air Raid siren being played like- Waaaaaa-aa-aa-a-a-a (think of that classic techno song by M.A.R.R.S, Pump Up The Volume here). Anyways cool stuff mate. Thanks for sharing. I dunno if I'd consider this as House. It seems to be missing the four-on-the-floor commonly found in it. Though I really dug the synthline ya used in this. Kinda reminds me of the hourly alarm chime that Grandfather clocks have. Yet I'm thinkin that they're kinda offset with the bass ya had for this. Anyways, if this is the first track you've done it sounds like your headed in the right direction. Later on!

That intro sequence sounded eerily familiar (dunno where I've heard it before though). Nice constant and basic bass on here too. And it's really nice to come across another producer who isn't afraid to push the limits on their mixes and really go out far with their lengths. Most people start wanting to wrap 'em up once they hit the 3 minute mark. Which is cool and everything, but it leaves alot for want when one is trying to lay down a really long mix session. Anyways, cool stuff mate. Later on!

Okies, I'll agree that this is House, but the mix is leaving alot for want. It definitely needs more variety because it sounds repetitive. Though since it isn't that long, I'm guessing that you're not finished with it yet so you've got time to go back and fine tune this. And I'd really recommend that you ditch that vocal sample at the beginning because it just sounds bad (in poor taste and amateur). Though the other vocal bits in this were really cool (though used a bit too much I'm thinkin). Anyways, keep at it mate. Later on!

This was pretty jammin, but I'm thinkin that it could stand for a bit more variation because it started to get a little repetitive. Maybe add a clap & crash to the drums. And an occasional break would be keen to (that or some diminished bridges with lulls and swells). Though I'll say that you've got a pretty wicked start here. Lates!

Stinks to hear that your hard drive crashed on you. If ya get another hard drive and connect it up to the same computer or if you go out and get the conversion cable with USB end you might be able to access it to retrieve your files. Now lemme listen to the song.

I like the concept you were going for here, but I'm thinkin that this track needs a bit more variation in it. Mainly on the melody side. Like it needed some pads, some more leads, and definitely needed some heavier bass. The beats on this were pretty nice though. Later on!

I'm thinkin this is a pretty nice start, but the track needs some more work before I'd call it finished. Especially some more variation because it sounded kinda basic and repetitive at parts. Maybe layer in another channel of bass, throw in some more drums (and definitely some percs), add on about 2 additional layers of leads, and maybe one layer of pads. Keep workin at it mate. Later on!

Okies mate, first I'm gonna suggest that ya introduce the synth on this way sooner (maybe around 20 or 30 seconds in). And for the intro drums, try throwin in some changes here and there. Like havin 'em fade in and then cut 'em briefly before ya start the synth. Actually, I'm gonna suggest that ya speed up the whole track (not tempo, but how it progresses, because the two are offset rather badly- too slow for a fast paced song). And definitely think about changin stuff up in the because it was kinda repetitive. In fact, not to knock a genre I love, but the groove of this made me feel that it was more of a House track than Electro. Keep workin at it mate. Later on!

Of the last few I've reviewed this is the first one I liked. Though not to rain on your parade, but that sample about 3/4ths in sounds like it's a commercial track. You've got permission to use it right. Otherwise you'd be breaking site rules.
Anyways, moving on. I think my favorite part of this was the drums and the E-piano/pad sounding synth ya had on here. Thanks for sharing mate. Later on!

I'm really digging the bass on this. This is a pretty great track mate. Though I'm thinkin it'd be better suited as Trance coz that's the vibe I get from it. Well, that and a bit of old synth-pop (I could easily see someone singing on this). Anyways, I don't really see the video game thing you mentioned in the description- care to elaborate there with what kinda game you were thinkin about? Can't really think of anything to suggest for it. Thanks for sharing mate. Later on!
