This piece has many nice elements, and the rhythm guitar is just sensational. The female vocals also add an almost sensual element to a song that was so typical of funk from the 70's and 80's. Nice work!
Also, I wanted to say this music made me think of the sound track in the Stallone movie "Bullet to the Head". If you have a chance to listen to some of those pieces, done by Steve Mazzaro and Hans Zimmer:
I had a listen to that Steve Mazzaro piece. Never heard of him or the Stallone film though I'm extremely familiar with Rage Against The Machine's stunning Bullet In The Head song.
The Mazzaro track is a good heavy blues track and also has other cinematic elements, as is to be expected from soundtrack music.
Perhaps the closest thing I've done to that is this unconventional blues epic. Not very close but maybe it's something along the lines of what you were thinking I might be able to do. I don't know. It gets much rockier in the second half though I have much heavier rocking in other tracks.
This was different kind of song, and some very nice guitar strumming in it. It's got some southern influences and I thought it was a nice mix. Thanks for sharing this piece.
Hi. I don't really do a lot of guitar strumming as I'm much more into riffs and textures and stuff.
I'm not entirely sure where the strumming is in this track, especially as you didn't say which bit you meant. Maybe it's in the rockier chorus sections eg at 2:14 or in the strange blues end starting at 8:45.
There are many nice elements to this piece. It's totally laid back and chill, as I don't think you need to try and introduce a new style here. Nice work and keep it up.
There are definitely elements of this piece that I like. Would be curious how you got an entire choir for the background vocals. It's begging for a lead singer to make this song really stand out, as I think what you have now will make a good chorus.
Thank you for listening and letting me hear your thoughts. You always have interesting comments and greatly appreciate your honesty. Thank you so much. BTW - The choir is virtual choir played on a midi.
This was a great accompaniment for both the sax and guitar solos that were featured in this piece. Nice work, the song keeps moving nicely and has a nice grove.
Thank you kindly! I think Mark deserves most of the credit for the "blending" you speak of, as he used my earlier master when recording his parts... they were tailor made to sit comfortably in this setting. I really appreciate the supportive comment!
I really like how you mixed this together, and kept it a nice, laid back piece. The entire mix fits together well. Nice work, and hope you'll keep posting.
I absolutely loved the guitar, horns, and sax work in this song. It is a throwback to the early 70's stuff that many bands were experimenting with back then. Nice work.
Much appreciated, Kdlucas. Glad you like it and took time to comment.
Yeah, I'm pretty much a 'retro' guy. I just have a hard time finding much of today's music I like other than jazz, so guess I'll continue making it myself!
This track had some pretty cool concepts in it. I liked the beat and the guitar parts. You might enhance it by shortening the song, and maybe less synths and more analog instruments in their place. In general you have a very sweet idea for the basis of this song.
This is a complicated subject for me. I tend to make very long, epic tracks that are progressive journeys through sound and a mix of genres. Average length is probably about 10 mins and I even go up to about 17.
In the last year I have had some success in making some shorter tracks ( 4-7 mins) but I just can’t help doing the lengthier stuff. Sometimes I enjoy chopping the end off and turning it into a new track when I can see that the track is likely to be 15+ mins. But if it’s only 10-12 mins, I tend not to split it in two.
“less synths and more analog instruments in their place”
Hard to know what to say about that. There’s quite a bit of guitar and bass in the track and I have many tracks with a hell of a lot more guitar. I also have tracks with no guitar (pure electro). I like the range of synths in this one and I think the 303 stuff is a fun surprise. Maybe you don’t really like synth sounds?
I liked this jam, but in the middle I feel there were a little too many instruments competing for my attention. Maybe back off some of them and give it a little more room to breathe. I like the main vibe of this song, relaxing and chill.
The first few mixes that I've made were pretty minimalistic and would probably appeal to more people, but I was in a mood of toying further with this thing which is always a risk...
...you never know, you may improve things, but it often goes for the worse and I'm well aware I was a bit exagerating this time...I really appreciate your honest feedback and advice.:)
Very nice piece, and I think the inspiration you poured out into this song. You really felt the mood Bear was portraying in this song. I love the harmony you mixed in. I could really make this song kick if you gave it to me to mix and add a bass, probably some accompaniment, and a little percussion. That would put this song over the top.
Nice combination of the guitar, sax, and background brass + synths/strings. This could definitely kick back and enjoy this piece over a drink. I appreciate the fact that your compositions aren't too repetitive and keep satisfying the soul with a good dose of inspired magic.

Simply a pleasure to listen to. The sax really makes this rock out, and the bass is ever present and strong. Also, loved the way the percussion gives the song room to breathe, as pauses an just gives a strong thump in a very slow deliberate manner.
I hope you are still producing stuff, as so far all your stuff that I've listened to is from 2010.
Very relaxing song kick back and listen to. Kind of reminded me of some Grover Washington Jr. stuff I used to listen to. Love how you mixed in the brass to compliment the other instruments. Also, nice work sticking the synths in the background. Very good vocalist....
This jam is sweet. Love the sax, love the bass, percussion, and the other solos. This works well together. Really laid back feel to it, and the keyboards kind of make it all work with the sweet undertones all they way through. This does have a jazz/lounge feel to it.
Very nice and laid back piece. I could definitely hear a bridge and a part 2 to this song, as it kind of begs for either a key or tempo change to compliment the nice sounds you already have. I like the way all the instruments work together on this one.

If you want to hear much shorter chillout shuffle blues with more guitar try this: http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/155503
or heavier and with loads of guitar and much less synth try these:

As I've told you many times, this song is very creative and emotional, and really highlights your talents and is one of your best genre's.
Why don't you upload the one your and Ryder did, that way we get a little bass and percussion with this beauty.
