Wow, beautiful work. Love the unplugged feel - anytime you can put a singer and a guitar on the stage at the same time, you usually get magic simply because there is no place to hide. Your vocal work is about as good as it gets. Not sure how I haven't heard more of your music, but boy I am glad I discovered you. Stunning effort and I cannot imagine why nobody has commented on this one. Fantastic work. I hope all is well.
Robbie, nothing short of spectacular work here. I absolutely love folk music - used to attend the annual old time fiddlers festival in Shoshone, Wyoming and I would hear music similar to this. Great stuff, great lyrics, great guitar work, great song. Great job!!!!! I really enjoyed this one. Thanks for posting. I hope all is well.
Hey Bear you made me smile i had almost forgotten about this track i stay in Austria now being a far travelled Scot i dont think ill be going to Scotland anytime soon but i also love folk and bluegrass and the blues. I miss the old bar folk nights i used to go to every week too much beer but i miss the music and the camaraderie :)
Robbie, I don't know how the heck I missed your music up to this point. That's the bad news. The good news is I discovered you and now have a new favorite to listen to. I love jazz and this one is just off the chain good. Terrific keyboard work from start to finish. Best of luck with the heart surgery. This getting old sucks :) Anyway, I'm going to head off and give another of your tunes a listen. Really well done. I hope all is well.
Fast fingers on that synth, holy cow!! Pretty realistic sounding and what is really amazing is you did it all live, no overdubs. It is always a master's class in performance, composition, and production in your neck of the woods. I am always left pretty much speechless when I hear your work. A definite 10 out of 10 on this one and straight to faves. Well done brother. Keeping the bar high. I hope all is well.
Thanks so much, Bear. Very Very kind words. I appreciate that so much. I hope you are feeling well these days, and settling into a new place in FLA. keep on keeping ehh!
Steve
First let me echo my friend Danke's sentiment that there are definitely not enough blues on this site. That said, holy sh*t, this is fantastic. I spent quite a bit of time wandering the bars/music scene in Austin, TX and this is the kind of music I used to listen to and fell in love with. Great guitar styling, beautiful buttery tone, definitely know your way around a fret board. Outstanding effort on this one by everyone involved. I absolutely loved everything about it. You guys should take this act on the road!! I hope all is well.
Another masterful 38 seconds of absolute bliss :) Like many of the others, I would really love to hear a complete piece of yours. If you have a link to some of your catalog it would be great if you could post it. Again, quality, quality, quality work. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. I hope all is well.
There are some really great musicians on this site, and I would definitely rank you right up there with some of the most talented I've had the pleasure of listening to. My God man, you can flat out play and it is such a pleasure to hear talent like yours. Sorry that guy didn't follow through on his payment, but his loss is our gain. Thanks for posting this gem. I'm off to give your other track a listen. Added to favorites, and since I missed you before, welcome to Looperman. I hope all is well.
Wow, from the first note this one had my undivided attention. Guitar work is stellar as usual, but man the production and arrangement is a master's class in how to do things the right way. This has that Santana vibe to it, which is something I really love. I just bought a PRS searching for that Carlos tone (I'm still searching, haha), and it looks like you have it mastered. Are you using one of your Strats for this or your Les Paul? Anyway, outstanding effort. Really, really good work. I hope all is well.
Thanks Bear as always great to hear from you and thanks so much for the positive feedback. As for your questions. Yes it's my Strat. I have not played the Les Paul in ages.
The Strat is the most versatile guitar in the world. It can sound like anything. This Strat is about 2 years old it's an American standard all stock. As always I hope all is well with you and your family.
Nicolo, really nice work here. The choice on the chord progression is really interesting, it gives the piece a melancholy feel with the dissonant notes combined with the vocals. I did a song with these vocals and came up with something completely different....actually like your version much better. Mix sounds nice to these worn out ears. Well done my friend. I hope all is well.
Ah, Steve, just what I needed to start out my Sunday. Beautifully composed and orchestrated, just the right balance of bass to anchor things. Very nice build, almost suspenseful. It's amazing to see how far you have come over the past 8 years. Beautiful work my friend. I hope all is well.
Absolutely stunning vocals....I'm not sure how I missed you but I am so glad I found your profile. Your voice is like a mixture of Enya and Amy Lee with a healthy dose of Ratsouk thrown in to top things off. Beautiful pitch, control, and dynamics. I've downloaded a few of your acapellas and I plan on seeing what I can do with them. In the meantime, I can only say thank you for allowing us to share your talents. Again, thank you for posting this one. I hope all is well.
Damian, nice effort here. It does bring back memories of all of those catchy 80s tunes. My wife really liked it, haha. You could probably bump the vox a little bit (that big saw synth kind of blocks out the backing vox in spots), but that's just nitpicking on my part. I enjoyed this one and am glad I'm the first to give it a go. As always, thanks for sharing your work with all of us. I hope all is well.
I spent quite a bit of time in the southwest growing up and a lot of time in some of the clubs in Austin. This sounds like something I would have heard there - terrific work. Vox are nice, the bass laying a great foundation for the song. This is good on so many different levels. I look forward to many more from you. Not sure who is doing the guitar work, but they know their way around a fret board. Outstanding effort!! Added to favorites. I hope all is well.
Thanks for the kind words Bear, I'm still trying out different styles of music, I don't really have a preferred kind so have a few different sounding ones on the go from Prog Rock to 80's style pop, I'm about to post that one so have a listen, may not be your cup of tea though,
Brother, let me first say how happy I am that you are in a better place. It takes a great deal of courage to face your personal demons, and even greater strength to share your experiences through your art. I've lost friends over the years (way too many) and in retrospect I feel so badly that I can't turn back the clock, see the signs, and maybe said something that would have changed the course of their lives in a good way. This song had a profound effect on me, and I thank you for that. I've downloaded it and will share it with others who are struggling with the day to day hurdles life throws our way.
You are a rarity, and talented, and a really good person. Thanks for sharing with all of us T2. Keep fighting the good fight. Happy holidays, and I truly do hope all is well.
Wow!
Thanks Bear.
Sometimes that strength we rely on to pull through becomes too much to bear if not harnessed the right way. Outlets like music have helped me for a long time and will continue to do so. Sorry to hear about your friends. And no....Thank you!!!!! I've read this comment from time to time since you've posted it and I just didn't know how to respond. Good looking out man and I'd be happy for you to share my work with whomever you see fit. Thanks again and Hope you had a great holiday season and your new year is off to a good one.
Still fighting bro! It's a one day at a time thing.
Well, I'm finally back on the Loop and have a bit of time to look around and I stumbled upon your terrific acoustic guitar work. This gem has some serious potential. It could work as background for a commercial (it has that nice feel to it) or you could expand it into something more. Anyway, nothing to critique here, just mad props for your skill sets. Well done! I hope all is well.
Man, I really like the vocal work on this one (I assume that is you and if so you have a real commercial appeal to your vocals). I hear a lot of "stuff" on the radio and that's all it is. This one actually should be on the radio because it has substance. I understand the feeling that you want to add more, but I do believe in this case less really is more. Seriously, this is a damn good song. Keep doing what you are doing. You have skills, and the world needs more music like this. Well done. I hope all is well.
Great bass line through this one, it really is the glue that holds it together in spots. I really enjoyed the dynamics (love that piano arpeggio at the 1:36 mark and the use of the minor chords through that section...gives the piece a feeling of suspense and sadness. Nothing to critique here, just enjoyed the ride. Well done. I hope all is well.
So, first let me say I really like the vibe on this one. I do think the fact that the brass part is pitched in a different key gives the piece some dissonance that I'm not sure goes with the happy feel of the song (just my two bit opinion and it doesn't mean much, haha). Not sure you have the ability to raise the pitch on different parts, but if you do, see about raising the pitch on the brass section (can't tell for sure, but it sounds like it could go up either one or one and one half steps). I think you will like the result. Other than that it is really nicely done. I especially enjoyed the pads at the 4:50 mark and that killer bass and drums driving things nicely home.
Mix is really nice too, with all of the instruments having plenty of room to breathe. Well done. I hope all is well.
I think you are probably one of the most talented story tellers on this site. I've no idea how you can take all of these different loops/genres and add your own ingredients to the mix, and end up with these wonderful cohesive productions. It takes real skill, and real vision to assemble all of this. Love that feedback at 3:30. Bro, this is stellar work, but I expect nothing less from you. Really, really well done. I hope all is well.
Wow praise indeed!
Thank you SB.
As for how I do what I do I think it must be a time thing.
Takes me weeks sometimes months to do a track because I'm simply not in a hurry.
Have just bought a minibus that I'm converting to a camper to do as much of the UK come rain or shine as I can and possibly Europe when I've done that so although I'm still creating this stuff it has been pushed back by the van.
Got to fit the electrics next week for keyboard pc guitar etc because I intend to carry on my number one hobby in the middle of the forest the beach wherever my wheels take me.
Thanks so much for your kind and encouraging words.
So, there is so much magic going on in this one, which is no surprise when you combine the talents of Ed and you, Leon. I loved the intro, but when that bass kicks in at 0:36, I knew I was in for something special. Beautiful chord progressions and those buttery guitar tones of Ed's, along with the elegant piano work...truly a thing of beauty. And then you throw in that masterful engineering, and you have created something truly special. I did see someone offered to sing on this, so I'm going to give it a listen next.
A tip of the hat to both of you, and definitely added to favorites. Well done gents. I hope all is well.
The bass adds some really nice dissonance to this one, giving a feeling of suspense and intrigue. It should sound great if you can put some vox over it. Well done.
So, I'm no expert on this genre, but I can tell you when I like something, and I like this one. First thing that grabs me is the mix is really crisp, with all the instruments sitting really nicely in the mix. Vocals are blended in really, really well. As far as the criticism with the drop, I think the dissonance is actually pretty cool, a little change of pace from the use of happier sounding major chords. As usual, you never disappoint my friend. Really well done, and a lot of fun to listen to. By the way, her voice is really nice. I hope all is well.
Hey Bear, you know I always look forward to your feedback! Good to have you back on the Loop! Always appreciate your breakdown. I do what I can when it comes to arranging and mixing and remixing. I was sitting on this record for a while until I finally had the nerve to just do it and post it. Thanks again for all of your positive words!
Brother, I am literally speechless as I listen to this one. There are times when I wonder why certain people are famous and churning out garbage, and others remain nameless and churn out pure works of art. God, this is gorgeous work. Everything from the concept, the lyrics, melody, vocals, instrumentation, dynamics...every last thing is special. You should be really proud of this one. It should be charting on Billboard instead of sitting quietly on Looperman. Keep the dream alive bro because you have mad skills. Thanks for sharing this one. It made my day. I hope all is well.
Thank you for that.
I am in aww of the feedback.
I'm super glad you and all the others who have enjoyed this track gave it a Listen.

Your comments go a long way wth me.
I just got inspired by YOU. So thank you for that and I hope all is well.
Hey Pat, not sure how I missed this one (looks like someone decided to stir up some stuff using this as an example, haha. Glad I missed that drama as well and feel bad he decided to target you in the process).
Anyway, I always enjoy music that is recorded live, in all of its unadulterated glory. I think its the small nuances that live performance allows that gives this one a special feel. As Alex said so astutely, the organ plays against the happy feeling of the track, yet gives it such a great foundation to play off of....kind of a yin and yang type of approach that really works well.
I put you in the same category as a Steve Winwood, not that your music is like his, but you are a performer and it is difficult to play everything and do it as well as you do. Winwood didn't tour for many years because he was literally a one man band. I think you are not only a talented one man band, but also one guy who really knows what he is doing around a mixing console. Impressive work my friend, and definitely adding this to my favorites. By the way, the song went really well with the artwork over at Dan's place. Congrats. I hope all is well.
Hey Bear, thank you for taking a listen to this one! I am honored by your compliments and way of thinking of the way I make music. It's also good to hear that you felt that the song worked well to support the artwork. In all honesty, I don't think of this as a truly "live" track. The liveness of it comes in each instrument part being played or manipulated live. So it's similar, but to do it truly live would either be impossible, or require recorded/sampled backing. I found the organ part to be very influenced by the field recordings I took of the crows, and I wonder if this is part of why it feels more minor or morose than the rest... many seem to have those sort of feelings when it comes to crows or ravens. My feelings about them are very different, and I am thankful that they use our home and neighborhood as a landmark. I am working and gathering equipment to be prepared to perform live at some point again. Grabbed a pretty complex stereo loop/sampling pedal recently which I am learning how to use. Also a some good portable synth and sampling stuff. Unfortunately there are many hurdles to doing art in public in this city, but a pedestrian is a semi-permanent local. I really appreciate your words and the favorite! Thanks!
I think the sign of a great musician is to be able to step outside one's normal realm, and move seamlessly into other genres. This one illustrates your talent, and proves that a musician can play anything. Terrific work by all involved and like Ed said, this one belongs on the radio. Here's to a musical 2015, James. I hope all is well.
Ed thanks for your comment I greatly appreciate you thinking I am a great musician. I am so, so I think. Make me feel really good that you think I am better than I do. :-)
Christmas was great here I am glad you was great for you also.
