Perhaps 12 Tone offers closest thing to infinite variety in note pallette. It may turn out there is at the end of the day a 12tone sound but I don't know yet. I spend quite a bit of time playing with 12 tone concepts.
U do a wonderful job at around 9 minutes in of heating things up via very smooth transition.
Enjoyed listening to this again. Peace
I don't know what the 12 tone concept really is. Don't think I've even heard of it.
I do know that I like micro tones and guess I use them quite a bit through all the slide playing I do (remember the bassline in this is mostly slide and then there's slide guitar in the rocking section).
Yes, rocking section in this is fun though probably the end needs to be extended by about a minute as it's getting into a cool funk jam and then ends. I like to build things up to go heavy just to show how things can progress. But I don't do it just for the sake of it - only if it works.
Beautiful opening sounds mixed so well. Sets everything up nicely. I might experiment with the pipe sample a little. Might thicken bit, fuzz out a bit? A nice start. Good luck with development
Well u have a customer here and many more I am sure. Have been very much in this space of the slow ponderous groove. Big fan of this choice of instruments. A lot of attention to detail here. Very musical. Very patient with ur development. Big hats off.
Well I'm not selling anything yet. I'm planning to give a bunch of albums away for free through a site such as Bandcamp once I've got mastering and artwork done. I guess I could charge for them but this is real niche music so probably not worth trying to make any money off it.
Anyway, - I like all sorts of grooves, including slow, spacious, ponderous (good word, not used very often) jazz ones.
Yes, I think my unusual choice of instruments is one of the key defining aspects of my music. There's so much uninteresting music out there and I kind of think everything's been done before in terms of notes or chords or sonic extremes. However, the way in which you combine sounds has loads and loads more possibilities.
It's not as though I have a regular band lineup so I just choose instrument combinations that I've not used before for every single track. I try to give them all their own character. I think inventive instrument combinations is the real way to create unique music. I have no idea how I could combine notes in a way that no one has done before. But with sounds there are many more possibilities.
I like to be patient with the development. You may be able to hear that most of the track is based around the main bassline. So, everything that follows is just me developing other parts to accompany that bassline. Different drum grooves and keyboard parts and also complete changes (such as the two rock drums and guitar sections) as a break before returning to that main theme.
"Very musical"
I think when you get jazz right it tends to sound very rich and musical. More so than a lot of electronic music or metal. I don't know why that is or if I'm even explaining myself properly.
it is an interesting attack effect you use. i like the parallel thing going on between base and the meowing synth. that is what it sounds like to me. there is a lot of variation, a sense of different sections. that keeps the interest for me. sounds great. thoroughly enjoying it!
listening to a girl coming is always a turn on of course. finding music to fit it takes some thought and you did a good job of that. this would be a great track for a porno movie. very imaginative use of sounds. you create a neat, dark-side mood. very compelling. I love it when it is just the girl and the drums. nice break there! nice work!
nice "washing" sound in the opening synth. very smooth, patient transition into your groove. that patience - to allow a natural development, evolution in the track is so important and you seem to get that. great work. look forward to hearing more! peace.
nice orchestration at the beginning and throughout. the string hits are really enhancing all the way through this banger. lovin it! so is that your guitar playin? or you create those riffs in computer? just curious. awesome either way. peace. sounds from the ending that you are moving into a new section. fantastic work. congrats! Dan
you have a good feel for the chill vocal delivery. not everyone gets that. interesting words also. I guess that is your literary/writing interest coming through. it's an interesting track. smart ending! peace.
i like the "stutter" technique. it creates a kind of tension, an uncertainty. there is a good tension and contrast between the straight ahead string melody and this tripping beat. okay - now that tripping beat is done for a bit. some piano comes in - nice - a counterpoint. back to the beat now! around 2:35 or so it seems you are starting to develop something different with the strings. this might be the point, if you choose, to wander away from the groove and develop another section, then come back. but it is wonderful as is. thoroughly enjoyed. peace
yo midi...
thanx for ur comments man.
i really appreciate the fact that u liked the song.
and i really appreciate u gave ur valuable time to this track...
Stay tuned for more.
Thanx mate
never heard the original but everything on this mix is beautifully balanced. the synths are warm and the violin line really enhances with a counterpoint on top of the mix. it's a nice concept. i'm about 2:58 in now. i like how you take the mix down here for a little bit - some transperency - some breath. very rich beautiful sounds. nice mellow licks. thoroughly enjoying it! crazy piano lick at the end! congrats to both of y'all!
awesome guitar playing - full of rage! great technique. yes - some silence for a second. very important. very good. and again. a good composer is a master of silence! when the bottom drops out and you keep going on the guitar is powerful. great instrument choices for this hardass rock track. great mix. nice work. peace.
hey Behnam! it was really cool to hear the addition of vocal to this track which I remember. yes - her voice is beautiful - and the mix is fantastic. nice work. really enjoy it. peace.
hey what's up Dan Hope U're fine . many thnX my friend for listening & valuable time to commenT . yes ,as U listened BrandY's beautifull Voice has enlivened this old dueT of mine in Bb & We(me & BrandY) are gratefull of your attention.all the besT.___B
i like the scale a lot. what are your notes? you have a great feel for playing off of those drum loops. and yea - they are smokin'. you really have a feel for a good grunge mix. keep goin' man! peace.
Thanks man, I appreciate the listen and comment. All my experience comes from learning by ear so all I can truely tell you is that the guitar is in standard tuning. I can play about anything by listening as well as creating on the spot but I cant read music. Thank you again dude!
that is a great bass sound that cuts so well through the synth chords. you write with great intensity and you keep it up! maybe just a bit of EQ on those high notes! nice work! peace.
Piero, it's a gorgeous mix, and full of joy. and of course, Ms. Patricia always delivers a passionate vocal. for my taste, I would compress just a bit the instrumental to allow her voice a bit more headroom. that's fine tuning and my little preference. this is a great sound! big respect. happy holidays also!! Dan
I'm glad you liked it, Dan. About the voice/music balance you could be right even if I liked it "big". Maybe I'll compress the whole mix just a little bit less to leave Patricia some more db.
the everlasting is the change. yea - for sure. the one thing that stays the same. but ironically, in your track, you create something unchanging (sort of). it is a terrific hypnotizing experience. it is a meditation. glad you recorded it and glad I listened thru. thanks, man. peace. (love, and money!) Dan
in my old school way of describing stuff - I call this an "exquisite" ambience. it is very subtle, the mood, the use of sound, the mix. it is a refreshing, open feeling - interrupted by the hard panned vocal "hits". these seem to say - hey, there is a guy, an artist struggling behind the scenes. and now the vocal asserts more - becomes a part of the groove for a few seconds.
i really respect that you just hold to the mood you establish, find creative ways to add color, variation. I would call this "hip hop ambient!" you just invented a new sub-genre! LOL! big congrats! nice work! Dan
LOL! big sound! I know it's gonna be a thick sound when the audio form is a solid rectangle! but really it is a great mix also! i love the build with drums/percussion at the end. that's like taking off on a space ship - boom! you've got a great start on this one. what are your plans with it?
This is actually a song from my new group, @ 28rebel duo from Indonesia. I wanted to quickly finish this song. and entered into the record label. because I think it still needs a lot of revamping of this song.
The sound is less, because it has not mastering.
thank you for giving feedback
it's cool to hear your voice (and the English accent!LOL). but really a beautiful delivery, Kerry. the piano playing is very smooth and the mix is all just right. beautiful job. peace.
your use of clapping as a unifying factor is very effective. i am not an expert at classifying the tracks. my guess would be "lounge". you develop a lot of interesting groups - lots of interesting sounds and mixes. look forward to hearing the kinds of melodic material you might layer on here and there. perhaps you will decide to limit yourself somewhat to a few of the great ideas you have in this track. there is a lot here to work with! good work and good luck bringing it further along! Dan
crystal clear vocal mixing IMHO. that is such rich electric guitar sound. it's amazing how much a nice piano adds. great song and great work. hats off!
your drum work is really interesting. i love the super clear bass that finds its way around the sound field. all the sounds are very spacy, beautifully crafted. mixing is fantastic. really this is first class stuff IMHO that transports me to a different world. just sad that it ended too soon. best of luck with your release december 1. peace.
Firstly, thank you for the positive words. When it comes to drums, I try not to be predictable. I am pleased that you enjoyed the sound selection and mixing. Maybe this should be longer. I tend to make shorter tracks. All in all, this kind of feedback is what keeps me going. Thanks again for the kind words and the regards on our release. I truly appreciate it.
the "chorus" is really beautiful. i like the sound of the voice. neat effect on it. lost in a dream yet existing in a world of fantasy. i like the electric guitar touches. they are perfect. the piano soloing at the end really winds it down smoothly. you were working the end beautifully. did you purposely cut it hard off like that?!
Thanks for the listen, glad you dug it. And I'm real glad you mentioned the guitar, i've been on the fence about how it's used. And yea, for some reason the mp3 is HUGE, so I had to cut the intro and outro short to make it fit on looperman
