interesting effect on the piano at the beginning. leads well into the synth groove that follows. i guess it is some sort of stutter effect you use? it is very interesting. sounds neat. would you share your secret?! nice work Bathers! peace.
a gentle ballad piano. a soulful vocalise. beautiful gentle vocal. "is this reality or just another fucked up dream!" that sentiment is an interesting contrast to the gentleness of the music! i appreciate your sharing some of the mixing approach. i think you are successful in your application of compression. peace.
string hits are very effective - sounds like there is something blended into that sound besides strings - not sure but great sound. nice drum groove. you create and sustain and dark mood, but some sense of action - a cinematic feel. as with the other track I listened to, you introduce new sounds even as the track is repetitive and it holds my interest well. great track. really enjoyed it!
beautiful singing! i like the long intro before it drops for the first time. it's great to take the time and pace things well - which you do! 'white noise in the dark' great line. the plucked since is just right - you create a lot of intensity with it. liking the piano at the end -it takes things down just right. big congrats on your work here! best regards.
Hey thank you midisparks for the kind words, I really appreciate that ;) I am happy that the synth I used created the right intensity that I aimed for ;)
Big thanks for the comment ;)
the strings sound great and they work great against the electro sounds. i like how you patiently build this one. big sign of an artist in my book - that patient development - evolution of the work. that constant bass groove creates a subtle intensity but never gets boring. hooray also for cowbells. totally enjoyed! peace.
very spiritual opening, beautiful setting. it is so rich when the vocal comes in. hear a little clipping from the kick - sometimes that creates a good edge - some subtle intensity. not sure it helps here. its a beautiful, introspective mood that you set and sustain. i like the contrast of the chorus section (sustained voice). the song is hypnotizing. great work. look forward to hearing more.
that's a neat effect the way you break up the voice. Holly's voice sounds great. the mix is very polished. wonderful sound choices. everything comes out the way it should. you create and sustain a mysterious and dark feeling. great work. look forward to hearing more of your stuff. peace. Dan
you interest sonic elements like well-considered dabs of paint on a canvas. you take your time developing this interesting audioscape. you create and sustain an introspective, dark mood and now that crazy high synth is adding "insane" to the mix. super interesting work! big congrats and good luck with further development of the project. sandwiching the whole thing with MLKing and Bobby Kennedy gave me shivers. again -well done.
Really appreciate the way you write your feedback with such depth, and with such style. This kind of comment would make even an amateur painter feel like a Leonardo Di Vinci. lol
i don't know the original but I'm digging this version for sure. what a beautiful mix and reminiscent of those old-century styles! so much personality, great delivery in the vocal. very spooky, effective! "i know that in the morning i will wake up in the shivering cold!" brrr!! this track just sounds awesome. big congrats to all involved.
you create a beautiful ambience. the plucked synth sound is a favorite. i like how you bring it down around 1:15 in. it becomes introspective, reflective. you have a nice feeling for the panning. such a basic effect but so effective when done well! beautiful work. thoroughly enjoy! cheers! I can relate by the way to "first victories" with a new DAW. Finally got a few tracks under my belt in FL Studio, having made switch from Acid. peace.
i remember listening to my dad's LPs of benny goodman, dorsey brothers, artie shaw, etc. etc.
you really are capturing the feeling, the spirit of this super hip music! breath of fresh air! cheers! by the by - I have a track that has been dormant that is sort of in a similar vein - maybe you would have an idea or two for it? here is the link: https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/150007
I'm with ya, MS. My mom and dad influenced me with this style, also. I would never had admitted it at the time, nor did I even realize it, but it began to show up in my later years, and now I love it. I just did a week run of the old Broadway musical, '42nd Street' from the 1930s and I was amazed at how much I enjoyed performing it. I always wondered why some of that stuff is still being played and performed and most of today's stuff comes and goes. I now realize the old stuff is good and most of the new stuff is CRAP...But I digress. Sorry kids...you will realize this eventually!
Anyway, thanks my friend for lending and ear and leaving your kind words.
unrelated to track. how do you manage to get your tracks in perfect chronological order. the option never seems to work for me.
what a cool dark sound you are getting hear. subtle string sounds. i like that hot electronic snare sound in groove? again - when that warm synth comes in it is like a ray of sunlight (or moonlight) and chordal progression resolving to major creates an interesting mood contrast to the dark groove. major chords are underused! now the guitar solo - back to something more consonant with the groove mood. interesting concept. thoroughly enjoying. wonderful work. peace.
the driving bass is sweet. very nice mix, blend of sounds. might take the bass down a bit after a while and bring out the different voices more. i love the mood you create. look forward to hearing where this goes. peace!
you understand how to use space/silence. i like the hesitating, tripping feel you create. it's so hard to make 4 beats in a bar stay fresh and you really get that. i like the orchestral hits and I like the scratching! neat track. all the best! Dan
i like how the beat evolves. that is something i work towards. something is staying the same and something is changing. it's a great technique. that 'scraping' or 'scratching' sound that interrupts the beat now and then is a great touch. thoroughly enjoying your track my friend. peace.
don't know the original but seems you are off to a great start with this arrangement. how do you extract Amy's vocal so purely without the original accompaniment? or am I totally confused about what you are doing here. look forward to checking out more of your work. all the best.
Hi Midi.. Thanks for your comment. Well Amy's vocal is a studio acapella and I found it on youtube. And then I wrote this arrangement. The original track got a nice swing to it but mine is totally different from that.
the use of cello in a very low key way for your beat works for me big time. the stick rhythms toward beginning is very creative work. the voices and vocal mixing throughout is interesting, sounds good, words super clear. it is a very subtle mix, not in your face with the sounds, but there is a strong psychological impact. your remix seems to be a winner. big congrats. look forward to checking out more of your tracks. regards.
Thank you, Ive been slowly refining my style and working at the vocals as of late, so its really appreciated when I get some feed back, Im glad you like what you hear cuz theres more to come soon.. thank you for the listen
nice opening. the orchestral hit and the rap coming out of it. very well done (IMHO). great words. i like your line "my brain's writing checks that my body can't cash" . beat's got some intensity. a little bit of vocal tuning and effect might add additional interest and sharpness. nice work!
it is a nice moment when the piano comes in toward the end. and there is a point where a synth carries a piano line up and away. that was great. nice work. thoroughly enjoyed!
amazing, brooding mood that you establish. your choice and mix of instruments is very subtle, smart. the rapping is solid. great job! thoroughly enjoying!
This feeling like a very Irish gladiator! At least at beginnings. Now it is just a very happy gladiator. That little bit of silence is such a nice touch. I like ur little vocal hit now and then. It is working. Nice mix. Thoroughly enjoying!
i love the sound of the melodic instrument. what is it? the whole "rolling" sound, kind of a strum, is very fresh. what a perky groove. great break to a second section. really enjoying. keeps up the energy and always adding something new to keep interest. nice work! keep going! peace.

Thanks for your comment
It is made very simply with a little reverb and a little delay in the second piano part is still a little filter on it and that's all.
No secret here :-)
