on Dark Reign by Darkreine
i like the feeling a lot Dark. i like how you "wash" a sound over the mix here and there. it is very effective. i can really let myself be taken over by this mix. great work. keep going brother.

on New Born Hero by GoldenOokami
by 1:05 in you have found your way nicely (IMHO) i think you might look for a different sound in the opening (and for subsequent usage). i like the active quality - the counterpoint of different lines. a lot to work with here. all the best! Dan

Thanks Dan. I appreciate it! I really enjoyed this track. I'll keep in mind for a different opening, if I am to do a similar track like this again.

i like your mix a lot. the notes when piano first comes in under sax are really neat. kind of non-tonal sound which I like (as you may know!) beautiful sax playing. i assume that is acoustic (if not - I am seriously amazed).

Thanks, Midisparks. Everything is (in a way) artificial. It was all the Fl studio presets. I simply tweaked certain things to give it a more natural sound. I am happy to see you enjoyed this track. Hopefully I'll be able to continue to amaze you. :)

great sound. when the drums came in I thought it was going into a groove, but you had a different idea. when it transforms into that slow-motion section it is an amazing dramatic turn. brilliant playing and concept here. congratulations.

on Un names trance track by TaraToxic
i like your effect in the second section, and how the gentle piano line can be a bit more prominent there. it is an interesting genre - trance. you have a good feel for it I think. i also like your build into final section. nice work!

Thank you, Dan, for the listening and for your kind words!

Yes, I liked to add that hip-hop groove in the end just to change rhythm before the final diminuendo...

Thanx again,

Stefano

on The Pain Will End Instrumental by MrShores
beautiful lyrical intro. i am really hearing the rap over this one so I think you have succeeded. introducing classical feeling with strings, extended melodic sections is innovative fresh sounding. the "shouts" remind us we are still in hip-hop land! the dissonance in piano at the end is unexpected bite! nice work.

on When you dont get it at home by benjizo
great feeling. all the vocal mixing is first class - the chorus and the lead (IMHO). I guess you would bring it all down and keep the drums going for the rap? lots of possibilities here. great work. congrats!

beautiful rich string sounds and writing at the opening. really sets a mood of anticipation. the second section is a surprise! the flute almost recalls Native America. beautiful writing Marko!

on The Love You Left behind by 12string-darkreine by ElectronBlue
it's really neat when a collab flows as this one did. you can feel the positive energy and the natural flow of it. the strings are a nice touch and give it a nice lyrical quality. nice guitar work. always a big fan of bringing the voice up in the mix. always something more to do of course! nice work!

Cheers midisparks glad you enjoyed the vibe. I tried the track with and without the violins and it won hands down with.
Yea I always like the vocals upfront especially if the vocalist is good like darkreine. Glad you like the guitar. I was trying to capture the guy crying over his lost love. Don't know if that worked but it sounded good lol.

topvega replied 5th Jun 2013 - 12 years ago
Thanks bro, glad you liked it and I appreciate the feedback on the song in general and especially on the mix. I think I have come a long way in the Mixing/Mastering department. Was brand new to the whole recording and mixing thing. Was pretty lousy at it for a while. Seems like I can get a decent mix now. As for vocals, that is all that is missing. I pretty much consider this one done. I will attempt to figure out some vocal melodies for this and maybe write some lyrics but I am no singer. Maybe I will get lucky and someone who can sing will jump in on this. Everything I have done is open for collaboration.
Thanks again.

on Food For Free by Spivkurl
your sounds are like characters, spiv - full of personality. i read Behnam's comment above - he is right - it conjures some imagery - perhaps some animation. but it also has a hypnotizing quality that is twisted, disturbing. a lot of levels to your stuff - congrats my friend!

Thanks mate. Yeah, I was playing around with organic sounding drum tracks and electro synths back when I produced this track. The fusion is pretty intriguing, I must say. Cheers for the words, buddy.
