Definitely some pretty weird shit but I like weird shit! Kind of David Attenborough horror show, small furry animals getting chomped....

on Took my Congas to Jazz Class by EmmaniFreeze
Love the dance between the drums and the congas. That keeps things moving at just the right pace. Has a beat sensibility to it, jazz plus lofi plus chill out. Great track.

Very cool evolving track, great sonic choices. It's kind of threatening but beautiful at the same time.

Agree with dimestop on the vox, sounds great. But I like this just as it is. Different again with interesting ambient glitch backing track.

on Just When You Think by Micky
So I had to go back a few times trying to pick the Dr John part! Love his early psychedelic stuff gris gris gumbo. always look forward to an installment from you, definitely a fan of your style, vox and aesthetic. Top class!

Oh this doctor, I remember getting real goosebumps when Zou Zou Mamou sounded in that voodoo scene in the movie ANGEL HEART. Well, in my song it honestly, certainly, I promise, definitely has no other function than that it fits tonally ... just buzzed around in my head. You can bet a crowfoot on that.
Certainly very pleased that you like the track - thank you, Zootman for stopping by again.

Greetings to NZ,

Micky

on Moss Mother Part 1 - Sun by ValveDriver
Fantastic and unbelievable re the vst guitars! Great drama and build and release of tension. I spend a lot of time alone in the bush (part of my job) and I love it. I have always thought of nature as a mirror that reflects back whatever you bring with you. To me the bush and mountains are peace and wonder and respect but then here in NZ we don't have things that went want to eat you! Which this track sometimes feels like!
ValveDriver
ValveDriver replied 17th Jul 2022 - 3 years ago
I would love to have a job where I spend all my time alone on the mountain. But, unfortunately, I'm temporarily outside of the PNW where it's all flat praries. When I get back, maybe.
Where I'm from we have bears, mountain lions and large elk herds. Granted, the elk don't want to eat you, but they don't want you on on their territory either.

I'm glad you were able to connect the emotions of the song with what was intended. I guess tha means I did what I set out to do, huh?

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment. It means a lot.

Take care.

on Another 2 Days by BaoBou
Dude if this was my track I'd be very happy and call it done but then I'm an imperfectionist. Great guitars, tone on that lead is sexy, groovy as hell all round.
BaoBou
BaoBou replied 15th Jul 2022 - 3 years ago
Hahaha I am just like you, I don't like obsessing too long over a track, but then I also know that when I come back to it later the false notes in the vocal, the uneven bits in the drums etc, all those will piss me off, so better to fix it now while I still have the energy ;)
Thanks for listening and commenting, very much appreciated my friend!

on from the wasteland by xstokes
You're an artist my friend. Love the atmosphere you created, drums simple but perfect, lovely pad type thing (what is that?) and the poem is beautiful. And the sound quality is crystal. Too much.

on the eyes of the beloved by Shaman77
Your voice has this cool gravitas (hope that translates). Basically, I think you could sing a recipe for chocolate cake and it would sound meaningful! The rythm of the words fit well with the track. Agree with Danke though, vox could be a bit louder in the mix maybe. I've been really enjoying Pennywze's music too, you did it justice I think.

on Maybe We can Try by Jynxz
Got me with the intro and the beat straight off. I really dig your stuff cause often its just not run of the mill at all, different sounds, different muse. Funk but not funk. You ever hear these guys (Rise Robot Rise)? Sometimes your stuff reminds me of them.

Wow... Thanks for sharing. They sound like a mix between Cameo, Frank Zappa and perhaps a polished version of Parliment. I'm definitely going to pass them on. I have no idea how I missed them. Oh yeah, the 90's I was drunk high or somethin LOL.

Thank you for your listen, comments and for turning me on to

I don't know what half of them are either (genres)! I'd call this one wild but tight. Or something. Great track, you lifted me up and brought me down to for a safe landing. Shame about that...could have kept going up.

Kia ora Zoot,

I have nothing against the guys that
know the qualifications for all the Genres.
I'm just barely hanging on keeping up with all
the toys you can use in a DAW. I'm just having a
blast making music and listening to all the ideas
and creativity you guys are posting here on LM.

Chur, for your listen and encouraging comments.

She'll be right...

on REQUIEM by weston63
Hey Nick, this is beautiful and very creative job well done. Who would have thought opera and dnb?! Gorgeous. But it works a treat in my opinion. Fantastic sound too. Couldn't find your email but thought I'd let you know just in case, posted an accoustic thing called thinking and talking. Not me singing, and I don't think it's anything special but maybe it might tickle your fancy. I can send stems, there's only a few tracks. All the best, Chris.

on Herbie by Jynxz
I have this Herbie album, Headhunters isn't it? Crazy album it is! He also plays keys on one of my favorite miles Davis albums In a Silent Way. Your version is pretty different, much smoother but still got that funk. Very cool in fact.
Jynxz
Jynxz replied 26th Jun 2022 - 3 years ago
Yes... The album with the computerhead Keyboard player on it.
The Headhunters were the musical group behind Herbie Handcock.
They specialized in African and other exotic Percussion instruments. At the Herbie Handcock concert I attended they did about a 5 or 10 min solo of just Percussion instruments. It was amazing.
I'm glad you didn't find my rendition of the track offensive, after running that track through my my head for 50+yrs I've got at least 10 or 20 versions of it in there but, this is the one that came out.

I appreciate you giving the track a listen and for your encouragement with the Fave.

Chur Bro

PEACE...
