IMO scrap the melody and keep the drums. I know exactly who keeps uploading those low quality flute samples and trust me, they don't sound great. This is up to you though. Your drum work is on point, so its salvagable. Keep at it!
Ummm.. don't know about this one, but work on it! Never stop the grind! The best advice I can offer is for you to chop up the melody in a different way or scrap it and find a new one.
Chill hiphop vibes, i feel you. Im not a mixing genius, tho the vocals are a bit brash in some areas. Might want to use a compressor. Really good work here, keep at it!
This is nice, but you might wanna change your mix methods. It sounds more like chillwave with the amount of reverb you stacked on the drums. Also, cutting out bad frequencies is paramount to a good mix.
@SERg1992 please post some feedback. Trying to bump up your tracks by just typing random crap is not appreciated. I don't make the rules around here, but just post "good track" or "needs work" if you can't find stuff to say.
Bro this is fire, the kicks tho dont need to be that loud in a simple statement. Loving how you didn't just use 8 bar loops for your drums. I need to start making my drums variate as well. Keep at it!
Thanks for the free sauce. There is also some good free piano vsts out there - Versilian Upright Piano and LABS Soft Piano. Just thought I'd share.
About this track, it is well made, but for an ambient genre song, its too stuffy and suffocating. Maybe run the finished product through your DAW and add some reverb and stereo. Just to make things sound clearer.
Love your mix style, it sounds like mine a bit. Nice the know I'm not the only one who mixes like that.
If I had to give one pointer, the beginning is nice, but the piano lacks substance. Your main melody shouldn't be a weak conversion. Lets say that the first half of a bar is a question and the second half is an answer. Its like giving the wrong answer to the question and that makes the conversation weak.
In simpler words, it sounds like it is supposed to be a counter melody. Very few low notes and no chords in sight.
I apoligize for giving such a weird description, but thats how the piano melody made me feel IMO. Great work though, you blew this out of the water.
I agree with reerees on this one. Maybe a more specific solution is to randomize the velocity on the hats, or make a pause in the hats and put an interesting perc in its place. If you want, I could recommend you some great packs with percs that are easy ear candy. Otherwise, good job.
Like the idea you went for. The drums might need work tho, unless you are going for more of a lofi/hiphop style. For the hat on shot you choose, I would duck it by about 7 dbs. So it just carrys the tempo and doesnt stand out. Your snare also was kinda weak, so you might wanna layer it. All in my opinion, though. You are pretty nice at doing this style.
Hey this is some really nice work you did here. I assume you made it from scratch, too. I really liked the way you styled your drums. Off beat, unexepected... can't say its top notch, but you could really polish that style and make it your own.
The mix isn't that great, but this is a track you can comeback to later and refurbish it. The snare, chants, 808 and SFX are all panned left and the rest of the beat is left in the middle. What I normally do to check if my track isn't panned right is make the master track a hundred percent stereo, and fix anything that strays too far left or right.
Really great work, though. If I have this much to say that means I find potential in this. Keep it up!
Thank you my man! Honestly a guy named Ocean has good tutorials on YT. He shows midi progressions and the general structure to what needs to be in a Lofi track. There are a few cool tutorials out there for lofi luckily :)
