This is pretty interesting, kinda freeky in a way. Very cinematic as well, maybe in a science fiction thriller!! The sounds complete a great mind trip and really stir the emotions, you just have to stay away from the brown acid when you listen to this one, lol.
I like it, very creative soundscape, the bass has a nice low tone that you added, sounds great in the headphones!!
I wonder if I shouldn't put in a disclaimer "Warning - this track draws from the Post-Industrial branch of Ambient Music: Not to Chill Out to." As a deliberate attempt at Ambient music, my goal here really is to create auditory hallucinations and some sort of altered state of consciousness in the listener. It's working for me - and I suspect others too if your "stay away from the brown acid" comment is an indication. Thanks for the review and favorite! To your offerings at first available moment!
Very enjoyable track and a great one for your first here!! The production is very good and I love the tabla, the sitar and your vocals which are strong.
This is pretty slick! Like the overall feel to this, dark, mysterious and the vocals fit perfectly. They greatly add to the tension that seems to underly this composition. The production is outstanding as seems to be the case in all your music. Fav!!
I try to get out the maximum of my limited technical resources ... everything's done with freeware ...
but over the years I learned a lot about production technique, and I have a solid musical education, all together it's enough to know what I have to do to reach my goal ... ;-)
thx for listening!!!
What can I say that hasn't already been said, this is just great my friend, put together perfectly. Everything is just so right about this on all levels. I think your best work I've heard so far, very impressed with this!!
On "ted.com" there is a great talk about how a researcher, who studied crows, found out how smart crows are and how there social structure is so complex. Very smart birds them crows!! I read your reply to Anomelie's comments on crows and had to add my 2 cents!
Hey Wayne - it's been hard not responding with crow and raven stories with every review as I have so many! For example, their ability and need to play. Two winters ago, on one snowy day I watched 4 crows sliding down the neighbors roof on their backs. When they'd bump into and stop at the gutter, they'd flip over and fly back up to the top and do it again. I swear they were all giggling crow style the whole time.
This track actually took a long time, and I played with the original jahknow loops for over 5 months before it started to click. I agree with your assessment, and am a bit nervous as I feel I've raised the bar pretty high for myself with this one. But then again, in watching my own evolution with this medium, it's pretty obvious that each track is somehow better than the last. Learning curve still in effect. So glad you dig this one, and am delighted by your review. Thanks!
This is a great song, loved the guitar and flute working together. I really dig the latin sound in general and this just grabbed me from the first measure. Nice mix! Instant dland fav!!
I like all the synth sounds you have coming in here and there, interesting. JJ Perry? Another influence of yours that I have no idea who they are, lol! I'm looking forward to hearing this finished!!
btw, St. Vincent is being featured on an NPR station this weekend, I think an hour long show! I think the show is called "World Cafe".
Hey Wayne, thanks for the tip on St. Vincent and for the encouragement here and in your emails. I'm glad you're on here. Hope to listen to your latest stuff soon! Hmmm... maybe tonight...
I can feel your emotional state in the song, very telling. Are you playing the piano, keys on this?
Have you ever gone for a walk, got so caught up in your thoughts, then you suddenly snap out of it and realize you've just walked a great distance? This song had that drifting effect on me, I just melted into thoughts while listening to this a few times. Nice ambient track, meditative, emotional, soothing...
The guitar is so cool on this tune, sounds great! I liked the distorted lead, it just speaks to me, lol!! Really though, this is quite great, like the waltz beat!!
Hey!
Glad you like the track Wayne! This is one of my first guitar solo so it has some kind of sentimental value for me.My cousin told me some bends were a little off but...who cares, lol?!?
Hey, this is really cool Ray! Think you should go with the flow on your approach to constructing your songs. Loved the vox!
I spend as little time as possible recording my live tracks, guitars and vocals. I think when you go back and try to adjust the flow of things, you can take away some of the spontineity and lose the initial idea and feel of the song. I'll go back and fix mistakes basically. I can spend half an hour to eight hours recording the tracks then about the same time on the engineering and mixing of the tracks and I usually end up posting a 2nd or third mix.
Could they be better? Probably, but I'll be working on the next one tomorrow. It really frees you up and lets you be more loose(in a good way)about your music! You'll be surprised by your creations and we will all benefit by listening to them!!
Thanks again Humps. That is good advice. It makes me kind of wish I had and could play some live instruments so that I could really capture that natural essence you do with guitar tracks and such. Spontineity seems very important, I know you are right about that. It is difficult doing it digitaly. Perhaps I should be recording myself keying the notes on the keyboard instead of sequencing them with a mouse. I will try that.
Thank you. I also like your sound so thats a great compliment coming from you. My engineer is one of the best I've heard... Definitely a greater pre-master mixer
Nice, nice and more nice!! This is quite a professional sounding recording, totally lovin the guitars on this! So great to hear some good old guitar driven rock and roll!!
thx Wayne!!
I only use freeware to produce, but I invest a lot more time into mixing than into recording, to achieve the best possible sound ... and a little experience helps a lot!!
thx for taking the time to listen and review!!!
A big smile came to my face at about 18 seconds when the first synth came in!! Sure is different but I like it! Happy, bouncy little beat, nice track Spiv!
Hey, glad I could make you smile with this one! Yes, definitely different. Happy and bouncy, I'd have to agree. Thanks much for returning the favour of a review! Take care friend!
Hey Davey, welcome to looperman! This is a very well constructed song, nice changes, nice production, lots of energy! I played it at a loud volume in a residential area, think I made some friends, lol!
Excellent! Someone taking the advice given in the song, LOL. Well, I'm really pleased you enjoyed this bro and thanks for the welcome here too. I used to be on Dance Industies but have left now. D.I. gave me only a very mediocre rating for this track which totally contradicted the very positive user rating I received so, apart from the new web layout which was far worse than the previous set-up, I decided to call it a day and BREO, who use to be with D.I. too, recommended I join Looperman! --Davey--
This is pretty sweet Jamie, a little different beat than I'm used to hearing from you! The intro was really well done and had me into it right from the beginning, especially the harp! The horns really added a lot too. Thought the mix was pretty dang good!
Nice track, should be in Scorcese's movie Kundun. It has a very proper atmosphere for the concept. I'm a big Tibet supporter so I really commend your effort!
Angry waffles with attitude, lol!! Great job throwing this together quickly, very creative! I've heard plenty of great potato songs in my day but not many waffle songs, pretty cool!
Thanks, Wayne - I appreciate the review. As I said before, I'm pretty new at this DAW thing, so it gives me a lot of encouragement when someone with more experience tells me I'm doin' a few things right. I seriously doubt that I'll ever be up to par with the rest of you guys though. But it's fun, so....
