You decided to go with an electric rather than the acoustic, I think you made a good decision. Nice vocal performance and nice effects on them. Excellent recording overall, is it mastered?
I'm volunteering to add a bass line when you get to that point. Percussion, bongos, and more percussion, lol!!!! That's all I have to say about that.
Cool track man. I've only driven down the Jersey Trpk and this beautiful song was not the first kind of music that came to mind, lol, but I wish I had it with me! Seriously though, this is relaxing but a nice upbeat feel to it, it put me in a good place. dl and fav, thanks!
That's different, but I like different. Intense is a good way to describe this. How many tracks or individual noises are on this? Not my usual listen, but I did chuckle at the voice samples!
Your drum tracks are always interesting, what do you use to create them? I like the short punchy guitar chords and the synths seemed to add some more tension to the song.
I've listened to this a few times now and there is a lot going on here, nice job! Kinda cinematic, I could hear this in a spy, thriller, mission impossible type movie.
Hey Wayne, I use Magix ( 15 ? ). I keep on using it because it easy, fast, but unfortunatly maddening at times for not doing what I really want - I have to settle for a somewhat passable version to what's running around the inside of my mind kicking over the furniture. I'm not sure if this makes sense or not, but, many musicians put accents on the beginning of a series of bars - I do it at the end - this could very well be the Irish ( or fun time lunacy ) influence. And, my base/drum co-cordination sometimes run counter to each other and then meet together for an important accent. Then, for flavour - a loop in the background seemingly running amok by itself but really fits nicely ( sometimes in the fourth dimension - which is time acording to Stephan Hawking ).
Ok, I just read what I had typed - that's a bit odd - it's the bit of vodka and amaroula fault.
Anyhow, thank for dropping by and reviewing. I just wish I had more time ( and sense be it good or bad ) to create more.
I was getting into it when it stopped, hey, what happened to the rest of it, lol. I would like to here that you continue working on it and finish it as a full song. The didgeridoo had a cool funk going on, more, more.....
Hey there Wayne - when I started this, I said "just love that digerydoo". I got that far before I said " MAKE IT STOPPPP !!!!" lol
I suppose I shall have to revisit it when I am able to tolerate the sound.
Thanks theHumps! You are correct, it all depends. In this case I didn't spend too much time on it and it could probably sound better. Truthfully, I think the logic is where things were more dicey. Greatly appreciate that you liked it and I welcome your review. Thanks!
Nice job with the vocals on this, pretty slick! Think they could be louder in the mix, maybe just move the keys to the side a bit, give the vox a little more room, just a suggestion. fav, very cool track
My first track of the morning, just perfect to get my day going! Liked all the changes in this and the overall dymamics of the song. Very upbeat, positive vibe here. fav and dl, nice track!
Firt off, this is a nice song and I think a good choice for you to cover, it fits your vocals. I like the way you arranged this, nice dynamics overall. You vocals seem to get a little lost when all the instruments increase, around 2 min. Sounds like the electric guitar you have is mixed too close to the vocals or may be a bit too loud.
What I like to do a lot with my rhythm guitar tracks is to widen the stereo field a bit(or a lot depending on the song)so they are mixed to the left and right of the vocals. I really try to leave the center open for just the vocals and try not to have any instrument with similar frequencies competing with it in it's place in the mix. Kick and bass are ok down the middle, they have lower freqs and don't clash with the vox's freqs.
I'll even widen the stereo field and then pan the guitar track quite a bit left or right. I do this a lot with songs that only have a couple instruments to fatten the tracks up and fill the entire panning range, left to right.
I'm babbling now, lol, hey nice song Chris, hope any of this helps! Nice vocals again.
Dude keep blabbing haha i need help :p
I've been doing exactly what you saidd mann!!! Honestly thanks loadsss!! haha its helped thrack a lot :p Im gonna upload it again soon :)
Thanks for your help man!! and the listen and review ofc haha
Nice guitar hook, would have liked to hear a few more guitar fills cuz that one was pretty cool. Drums were pretty well done as well, overall thought it to be a pretty decent track!
Hi Wayne, thanks for the review here, Yeah I did have some things planed here for this track, but dont think i,ll being going back to it at the monment right now, for I did lose the entire acid track on it and wnat to presue more interesting music! but thanks again for takinn the time out to review!
Cool track guys, liked the whole thing! As it built up I got into it more and more. The dub change at the end was an unexpected transition. Well done man!
I agree with what rawhead said for the most part. These types of songs are not only fun to make but are quite enjoyable for us, the listener, to get into and take a couple minutes to let the mind go someplace it often doesn't go to. Ambient as well. Cool track to listen to.
Very cool track man, very entertaining. I don't usually listen to this kinda music but this was a great listen. Liked the intensity, lots of cool changes. Gonna dl and fav! Thanks man!
Hi Wayne, thanks so much for taking the time out to review the track, yeah this was a mini experment to use a harmonica as a lead instrument.I grew up with the sounds of Arrowsmith and it wound up in vain that they would do, Still fooling around with a sasy lyrical idea also with that.
Thanks again and will diffently put my ear to your tracks!
I'm going to have to rerecord it before I start layering. My timing/rhythm has never been very strong, and it's made worse by my newness to the guitar.
My fingers still aren't strong enough to play for more than 30-60 minutes at a time on the acoustic, so it will take awhile before I'm confident enough in this to start layering. My current plan is to record some electric with a click track (to keep me on beat), and use the acoustic as an intro, outro, or bridge.
Somber subject matter but I think writing songs about our experiences in life that really cut deep is is nice artistic expression. It can also be good self therapy dealing with tough situations like the death of a friend. Cool tune T.
i didnt even think this track wuld get that much love considering its not finished....but alas im always amazed by the looperman ommunity...thanks for the review and ill make it downloadble!!!..if u do something to it lemme know :).
Too bad Ronnie James Dio just passed away because he would be perfect for the vox for this track!! Nice changes in this, also liked the harmony leads, nice touch!
Thanks, I love me that egyptian scale! It's really just a recent riff I made to give an impression of desired style, hoping to spark someones interest in collaborating. Thanks for enjoying the riff though (it is pretty brutal ;)! lol
Well alright!!! This sounds great man, nice crunchy guitars and a cool bass line to match. I really hope you can get some proper vocals on this, great as is but with the right vox this would kick some serious butt.
Hey, nice track zappo, just a pleasure to listen to. I really liked the guitar work in this especially the lead, which I think could have been louder in the mix. Some nice changes in this too.
